In the Thomann images, these have Made in China on the headstock, rather than Indonesia.

How does that type of Fender pickup compare to a Gibson mudbucker?
I played a 70’s SG bass in Wye Fret a couple of weeks ago and now I want a mudbucker bass!
I've got a Vintera Telecaster Bass and it's a hard pickup to define. It's not overly muddy, certainly has more focus to it than my old EB-3, but it's not as articulate as a P Bass. It drives my amp with very little effort. "Built for power, not for speed" is how I saw them described once.

I've got a white Matt Freeman Squier precision with Seymour Duncan upgrade that I'm looking to move on for about £350 in a hardcase.
Excellent condition, hardly gigged, non-smoker etc etc etc
Bargain. I've had four of them over the years, one was my main gigging bass for years. I bought one at the end of last year but I've gotten used to lighter basses and rounder radiuses in the intervening years so could really gel with it unfortunately.

Where are you based? I've seen someone selling a mint Chinese Classic Vibe P Bass in Sonic Blue for £300, but they're up in Lochgilphead which isn't really near anywhere.

I'm looking at something with a Pau Ferro fingerboard but I've never tried one before. The colour of the wood notwithstanding (I find it to often be too light and streaky for my taste but the one I'm looking at is quite dark and even), what's the grain and texture like compared to the traditional rosewood? I've tried instruments with Indian Laurel fretboards before and really didn't like it; it felt very dry even when it had been recently oiled and had a very open grain that you could comfortably stick a fingernail into.

Indeed, but the idea of Leo Fender was not really moding, but fixing an instrument by changing the problematic part with another faster than fast and not spending time on repair: a typical moto from the post war society and the consumerism.
In this scenario though, the 51-style neck would have a squared off heel rather than a rounded one like the later Precisions, so would have required a fair bit of work to make them fit. It's a rosewood fingerboard too, so the more likely scenario is a reshaped headstock IMO

I have a CV 70's with the same hi mass I swapped it out for a Hosco vintage bridge, all holes lined up perfectly except one of the outer ones, but I found I could still get the screw in and irlt was fine. Hope this helps.
Not wishing to derail the thread further, but I put a Hosco bridge on a Sonic Blue 60s CV P and 4 of the holes required filling and redrilling. I've yet to find a direct drop in for the Chinese CV bridges.

Photo of case please ? How is it different to a regular squier ? Excuse my ignorance of Matt freeman please
Pictures of the case as requested. I'm not sure what constitutes a regular Squier, but these were made in the same factory as the original Chinese Classic Vibe range, so is of a similar standard. It's modelled on Freeman's own 70s P Bass and has a hotter pickup than the Classic Vibes had, as well as a separate maple finger board (no skunk stripe).

Because these are period accurate, hence the RI.
Those tuners wouldn't have been used in 62, they'd still have been reverse gear tuners with a different shape baseplate

I've been up in the loft and discovered that I've got the box it was shipped to me in, so postage is available.

2011 Squier Matt Freeman Precision Bass in black. Bought from @casapete at the tail end of last year after having been looking for one for a while, but I'm not gelling with it. It's a little heavier than my other basses at 4.4kg which is part of the reason. It's all original and in very good condition; there are a few minor dings and some buckle marks on the rear which haven't broken the finish. Comes with a semi-hard case, and can post if required.

Bit of a thread refresh this one, but did this ever get sorted, or does anyone know of some alternative replacement tuners for this bass, as I’ve got the same model and I’m looking to replace the stock tuners, preferably with a nickel finish.
I know Schaller BMLs are straight drop-ins for the Chinese CVs, though I'm not sure if the screw hole positions are different on the Indonesian ones.

Same. Rare as rocking horse jobby. I've wanted one for years but have never seen one for sale up near me.

So, I had a bass refinished last year, but when I received it, it was a bass in bits, and the body was without a finish (it had been fully removed by the previous owner), so the refinish was judged by Challenge Jurors to be a repair.
There was some debate about whether my refinish was a frivolous and unnecessary vanity project, or necessary to bring it back to factory originality. However, the jury concluded that it was allowed.
So, precedent seems to allow a refinish where it is a genuine repair.
Mine is just a change of colour scheme. I'd booked it in a while back but the work will be done and paid for in March when the guy doing it has availability.

I'm getting a bass refinished in March; is that allowed?
Squier Telecaster Bass...wow!

Just noticed that the body has contours and chamfers. The slab body can be hard going at times.
