  1. Who can say what they are really worth?

Like Si asks would there be £1200 worth of difference?

I love Wals and I love Fenders, but do feel the prices are a bit silly for some models.

So many bassists have been clamouring after Wals and enthusing about them over the years, the new Wal team are aware of this of course and I'm sure that this has influenced their price structuring. Who can blame them.

I suspect it will not affect the used value of the originals.

On that subject thinking about trading my old Wal for an american vintage jazz or maybe precision, any one want to discuss a deal. I am not absolutely sure about this, it may be because i'm bored on a miserable grotty monday afternoon, so consider it a tentative feeler.

  2. I'm not going to check out the site today as I am feeling lonely and depressed and my wife isn't here to keep me in check.

The last time that the same set of conditions occured I found myself bidding and winning a bass that I didn't need on ebay. Don't think all my bodily parts will remain intact if I have to break the news that I've ordered a new Wal bass, when she returns this evening. Although I could try saying that I had just ordered the entry level model, with no extras.

On second thoughts, I will just have a quick look.

  3. Played a private function in Ware last night.

I really didn't feel upto it after a rough week health wise. Got through it fairly well, a couple of minor mistakes, but given the level of sweating, coughing, shaking and sneezing going on, not bad. I still made less mistakes than some of the guitards, although I did have one of those hideous "I can't remember how to get from verse to chorus moments on Hotel California".

A couple of weeks off now and then a depp with Mice with Glasses at the end of the month.

  4. that's a cracker Peter, good set of pics as well and nicely set off in front of the dry stone wall. Both the guitar and the wall make we want to revisit the lakes.
I would have to sell my Wal to fund the guitar and the long drive though.

    Tempted.

    All the best, Gary

  5. I purchased a set of wizards for my squier vmj, they went in with no alterations required Although I did put them in the wrong way first up and wondered why the pickguard wouldn't go back on. Was about to set about it with a file, when fortunately I realised my mistake.

  6. Good luck with the sale.

These are cracking basses, I have one in my collection. Seeing your ad spurred me in to getting it out of its case for a play.
What a joy and still in tune after a year or so of languishing in its case. Even the case is impressive.

You have cured my GAS for a another precision and I will probably gig the yamaha next week.

    All the best Gary

  7. Sorry to hear that Edward.

Maybe it's a confidence thing or a perceived lack of confidence. Make it clear that you really want that audition and let them know that you are confident that you can do it and you are just what they need.

Once you get an audition, get prepared, turn up on time and don't over play.

Stick with it mate, you will get there.

    All the best, Gary

  8. Hey there gicut.

What was the problem then, cab or amp?

I've got the shuttle six teamed with two 2 x 10" mark bass cabs. Been using it for about a year now.
It has been faultless, apart from my first gig withit, when I was using my active fender. The signal kept breaking up when playing hard. Once I had reduced the gain and increased the master volume, all was ok.
Deffo needs setting differently for active basses, I have the gain set alot higher for my passive jazz.

Sorry if I'm stating the obvious, but just thought it might be of help.

    Cheers Gary.

  9. A mate of mine has offered me one of these basses and I know nothing about them, I know I could do a search on the net, but would appreciate the opinion of forum members.

What I do know: Alan Woody Rumblekat signature bass.
    Korean built.
    Hollow body.

    Perfect condition.

    Original hard case.

What I don't know: Value. Build quality. Playability etc.

I was thinking of getting it for my daughter, who is struggling a bit with the neck length of her squier jazz.

    Any pointers greatly appreciated.

    All the best, Gary
