Trace Elliot 1215smx Combo and 2103H Cab.

The time has come for me to reluctantly part with my Trace combo and cab. This time it's not a GAS attack, but a back problem and just my general decrepit condition, that makes lifting a real problem.

I purchased the combo new from the Bass Centre, when they were situated in Wapping. I can't recall the year, but could probably find the original receipt if necessary.
The extension cab was recently purchased from another forum member (Bottomfeed).

I was always pleased with the combo, but adding the additional cab created exactly the sound I wanted. A sound that to my ears was just right and able to really cut through the drums, keyboards and lots of guitars in the current band line up.

The combo is in absolutely perfect as new condition and is fully functioning.
It is the 12 band graphic model, with two preshapes. An input blend with a valve stage. Compression for both high and low.

I suspect there is no need to list the full spec, most of the features are hopefully visible in the photos. Feel free to contact me for more info if required though.

I still have the original instruction manual, which is very thorough in describing all the features and how to get the best from them.

The speaker cabinet is also fully functional, although slightly scruffy. No serious damage, just more worn looking, but still what I would describe as good condition. It comes with a cover, which is quite worn but does offer some protection.
It is rated at 200 watts - 8 ohms.

Both of these items are the carpeted versions.

Looking for £ 375.00 for the combo, which I think is a fair price given the condition.

    and

    £175.00 for the cabinet.

Would prefer collection. But willing to discuss shipping and costs, separately.

  2. Hi Mike.

I suspect it wouldn't be loud enough, certainly not with a drummer.

At one point I had the 100 watt 1 x 15", it had what I considered a lovely sound at low levels, but was very indistinct and muddy when turned up enough to compete with two guitars and drums.

    Cheers, Gary.

  3. Thanks I love it.

Although it needs regular oiling, because a previous owner allowed it to get sunburnt (I'm guessing that's the cause) and it starts to look a little bleached out, particularly on the lower horn. A quick rub over with a little lemon oil and it looks great for a few weeks. All part of the charm of an old instrument and it sounds awesome. People don't believe its a passive bass.

    Cheers Gary.

  4. Hi Stu.

My daughters partner (drummer) has been researching this and was telling me of a web site that goes into great detail, with specs and prices etc.

I can find out about said site and forward it on, let me know.

    All the best Gary.

  5. What a glum day, thought I would cheer myself up with some happy tunes.

Dug out one of those freebie cd's of summer tunes.
Lovely Day by Bill Withers came on, so I picked up my bass to play along and finding it a bit of a challenge. Not so much the notes, but the timing.

Anyway, enjoying it and its cheered me up.

    Who was the bassist?

How about the tunes you lot choose to help raise the spirits on a glum day.
Another one for me is Roam, by the B52'.

    All the best Gary.

P.S. maybe this should be in off topic forum, apologies if so.

I have decided to sell my Hartke 2 x 10" Transporter cab.

It is rated at 100 watts @ 8 ohms.

I have owned it from new, it is in perfect condition and has not been thrashed.

    Looking for £ 110.00.

    All the best Gary.

Decided to sell some of my old kit to fund another bout of GAS.

This unit was purchased new for a now abandoned studio project. The results from it were excellent. This is in perfect condition and working order. I am not able to detail all the technical spec, but sure it's available on line.

I am happy for any potential purchaser to visit for a test run, so long as they know how to use it, as I don't.

Have decided on £75.00 as a very fair price.

    Will now accept £60.00

  8. I'm using a trace 1 x 15" combo and find that it really does vary from venue to venue. But I usually start off with the graphic set in what I suppose roughly resembles the letter m, plus a bit of compression.

I think the biggest impact as far as punchiness is concerned has been the recent addition of a trace 2 x 10". I have always been pleased with the combo, but the extra cab has really made a difference. Not enjoying the weight though, most of the past week was spent in mucho pain from loading the car after last weeks gig. Think I will be selling it all in the next few weeks to add to funds for some mark bass kit.

    All the best, Gary.
