Pretty much every one knows Cort builds stuff for most of the big names in the business. Their own line is well regarded and this is a very well put together bass indeed. I do like to bolt on a few upgrades though and this is no exception. This started out life as a passive Jazz. I have installed a guyper pre amp and its opened up the tone nicely. No routing needed so reversible if desired. Scratchplate was a plain white which wasnt a match for the fabulous metallic blue, so i wrapped the scratchplate in carbon fibre (durable and looks great) I have removed the BBOT bridge in favour of a Fender hi mass bridge. OPTIONS!!!! 1. The bass is currently sporting a pair of NoS wizard '84 pickups and mighty they are too. (£370) 2. Revert to the stock pickups (£300) All the usuals Pickup, tryout in Rochester Possible meetup as long as its not miles away. Courier at buyers cost (i have a box to ship it in). Scammers, dont even try you are not welcome, get a life and some sense of honesty.

I swapped out the original pickup for a high end herrick pickup. The replacement is a generic pickup with slightly less output as the original was too hot. I have the original bridge, but the scratchplate is now sr5 format which is slightly bigger than the sub5 so no going back, that said a sr5 scratchplate will now fit.

No dints or scratches, pretty much perfect. Cost of the hipshot, aguilar and bridge mods etc amount of £200 plus upgrades on this very good looking bass.. Here is a sterling sub5 in green with the following mods: Retrovibe stinger stingray clone pre amp Series parallel a switching Handmade matte green tinted pearl scratchplate (same template as a standard sr5 plate) Smaller footprint bridge. Shielded. As an aside for the interested reader, there is a route under the plate for a second humbucker in the neck position. Plays great and i have gigged it a few times , never missed a beat and is a nice looking bass for stage. 'bad' points one dint on lower bout two screws where the old 'big plate' bridge was. Its not perfect (reflects in the price) but its different and a nice sounding bass. The series / parallel switching opens up the sound which is an option you don't get on some sr5 even. Routing for a second pickup means the handyman in you can go HH or HS relatively easily. All the usuals: Postage: yes at buyers expense, i have the boxes.. Here i am selling an Ibanez SRX500. In an orange burst over a quilt top (not sure if its a thin veneer or a photo finish, either way looks great and flips in the light). When I bought this it had been in storage for a while and needed a recommission, a thorough clean and the pre amp was faulty. I have replaced the pre amp with an off the shelf two band, including a more durable jack socket which is a notorious failure point on these. Sound wise its a better option than the original as i find ibanez pre amp a bit hit and miss. Warm lows and without any distortion through to clear slap friendly highs. The bass is in excellent condition and action is low and neck is fast, no fret wear I have cleaned and polished the neck and frets. New set of strings (105/45) on her so nothing to do 'cept play it. Great Xmas present, cheaper than a new Squier etc and definitely a bass for a gigging musician, Tonally very wide ranging from jaco to hard and heavy. These basses take a de-tune setup easily. All in all a very champagne versatile bass for lemonade money. Controls are Volume, blend, treble,bass. Bolt on Neck is double octave (24 frets). Pics available on request

Here I am selling a beautiful pretty damn near perfect G & L JB. Tribute are so well put together i also have an SB-2 and a Kiloton and the quality is consistently excellent. I have added a Guyper 2 band pre amp and this gives an already punchy bass some extra kahunas. Swamp ash body means its a stout beast in the 4.5 kg area (crappy bathroom scales) but hells teeth its a beauty. Nice jazz profile maple over maple and black binding neck. Frets perfect Handsome bass this.. Ask for more pics if interested, i cant get the image size down to the 138kb limit..

Can vouch for the quality of this bass. Beautifully put together.

Price drop : £400 The sterling by Musicman Ray 4 range is the entry level into the world of Musicman, some of which are now getting out of the range of the working musician. In my opinion their build quality is excellent, fretwork is spot on. As a collector/player/modifier, I change things around on occasion making all my basses gig ready. This one is an example in point Pre-amp: The sub 4 has a spicy pre-amp, too spicy for some and is a common gripe. I have swapped this out for a OBP-2 aguilar pre-amp along with a new 5 way selector and the original was scratchy. Bridge: I do not like the big plate faux old musicman bridge. This has been changed our for the newer style like on the ray34's Hipshot: I love 'em, all of my 4 strings get them. Scratchplate: The blue colour is a tricky colour to get a matching plate for that looks credible. I have wrapped this plain white one using carbon fibre car wrap which look great and is hard wearing and durable. will also come with a blue anodized aluminium plate I made from a original stingray style one. So a ray4HH Aguilar pre amp, updated hardware in next to perfect condition. Whats not to like? 'cept maybe you dont like ray's..lol Usuals: buyer pays shipping and insurance, happy to meet up for a consideration towards petrol and coffee. Visits to Rochester for a tryout is cool too.

The kiloton is a great musicman 'zone' type bass yet passive. The MFD pickup range is as hot as they get and this is no exception. Beautiful trans 'root beer' finish over mahogany, currently not available at andertons, (not sure if it now unavailable permanently..). Smaller body shape (same as the SB-2) makes this good on the shoulders and in the just under 4kg area of weight. I have fitted a hipshot and the dropped D rings lovely on this. This is a nigh on £100 upgrade and with the list price being in the £400 zone, i think £325 is a steal. I can also re-instale the original tuner, and drop to £285. I have a thing for carbon fibre wrap on scratch plates and this is no exception, underneath is a tort plate, but I have added black carbon fibre which looks tasteful imho. No heavy dings or scratches, some very light signs of wear but nothing to cause any concern. Weight using bathroom scales is 3.5Kg This is a lovely instrument but not getting used (due to me switching over to 5 stringers) so a new home is needed. Happy to post at buyers expense, will always ship insured. Happy also to meet up within reason in Kent or M25 with some consideration towards petrol and coffee. EXTRA!!! I can remove the hipshot and drop the price to £275 Will also consider trades
