1. Hi - that looks nice -would you be interested in a lakland jo5 with j retro...like this..
2.
Not going to buy the bass but just curious where in North Essex you were. Have a bump!
cheers... I'm in Thaxted
3. bump and price drop... if this doesnt work I'll have to put new B string on it...
4.
nice one yours is a 2006 i think?
Yep it is - well spotted.
5. My clearout of stuff I dont use continues with a Johnson 5 string fretless jazz. £65 (no case) Solid enough piece of chinese wood. Best bit is the neck. It has a really nice feel and though from a distance it looks unlined (which to my sad mind makes a fretless look cool) it has actually got very faint lines on it - so its good for people new to fretlessness. I've had it a a couple of years but its not played much and in good nick - still got the plastic on the scratchplate. So what's the catch.... well.. the B string has all the sustain of a bass drum. Its the flappiest B I've ever not heard - this is probably because I haven't bothered to change the strings from the unknown flats it came with. I'm sure new strings would help ....or else use it like I do as a good place to rest your thumb as you mwah away on the remaining four strings. Prefer local pickup (North Essex) if possible. 6.
feast your eyes on this, ladies and gentlemen ...... think I might have a brother/sister to yours... LE HH black with gold... but a 5 string Got this in a BC swap - its a great bass and has converted me to MM's.
7. Thanks fellas and Mrs Smashie......I do think you are all pretty smart to recognise these things. Very impressive. Must admit the body shape looks like the Hohner and the finger rest fits and the neck fit on the back. The dots are abalone like too and the placing of the bridge looks the same. The bridge on mine is def different though - standard P model unlike the hohner - maybe added with jack sockets and fake sticker. I dont know how consistently they made these either but to my (and Mrs Haruki's) eye the shaping above bridge isnt quite as marked on mine. Its strange that the headstock is so different and Fender like. Maybe its a mongrel. Looks more hohner than squier tho.
8. Last year I bought 'Can't buy a thrill' to bring back some memories and its as good as ever. Glad to say my 18 year old son has taken to it as well....
9. Hi - I've got a question for the bassschat experts....any ideas what this might be - is it really a squier? I bought this off ebay and was told it was a squier... but I have my doubts (and I was in a hurry to get a maple necked precision copy for my son).... Its old and the machineheads are oxidised and the maple fretboard has got that darkned sort of stained look. The neck is quite thin (and with no skunk stripe). Plain neck plate. The body seems to have quite a shiny hard brittle surface that has chipped at one point -is that nitro-cellulose?. I presume pickup and electronics have been added? I took the neck off to put a shim in and found some writing - is that japanese chinese korean??? Any ideas? All advice gratefully appreciated. 10.
Do you think an Explorer bass would fit in it?? Been after one but cant find one anywhere!!! Paul
It might do. Once Katy got out - I did notice its not quite an even triangle - never quite sure which way round explorers go.....but no its probably too big...I can get a precisions in at an anagle but there are bits of excess bag that flap around. Strangely I have actually found somebody who is looking for a case for his Flying V - so I'm afraid mines off to Wales anyway. bw M
11.
Noirpunk has just bought a flying V bass off my sister and he may be still hunting for a case... drop him a PM and see
Cheers - thanks for tip off. m
12. I appear to have ended up with a gig bag for a Flying V bass (though I dont recall ever seeing a Flying V bass)- I got it after swap over a year ago and it is now starting to annoy me. A normal bass does fit in it but.... Its a good quality thick Kinsman case - sort of triangular at the bottom and about 18inches across at the wide end. So is there anybody out there searching high and low for just such an item... I'd be happy to swap for a normal shaped gig bag or money to buy one. martin
13. Strangely the only westone I ever had - i bought from new - was a westone 1a .... guitar ... It has been pretty much neglected since then... though my son did play one gig with it....
14. Bit of along shot but I dont suppose you'd fancy 2 for the price of one... MTD kingston(?) 5 string... its the passive one the p bass on the right... mixed/dubious heritage but with basslines pickup/badass bridge and prob slightly more distress than is natural (NOT THE blingy Musicman)
15.
If you're prepared to go a bit lower on price, I would be interested, and can collect this week.
whoops just seen this - have sent you a PM....
16.
Hello matey, how does the pwer amp handle two cabs? i have a 1x15 and a 4x10 with horn. seems like a fair deal im in essex too. regards ziggy
Ive used with a couple of 8 ohm cabs (2x10 and 1x15) and its fine. Your welcome to come and have a look/listen send us a pm = i'm over near stansted. m
17. Sad to let this go but I dont use it anymore its just too big for me.... Trace Elliott SMX 12 band preamp. This was the top of the range preamp in the pre-Gibson era of Trace. It does about everything you could want a preamp to do and produces that fantastic Trace sound. Includes... 12 band graphic - with mix Valve/solid state 2 Trace presets. 2 band compressor 2 effects send/return (one of them stereo) Stereo outputs can be used for bi-amping etc. and some other stuff round the back I dont understand (but I've got a copy of the manual) Its in a Warwick 4u shallow rack bag. Hollywood power amp 2x500 into 4ohms. Bought this as a temporary measure as cheap power amp... and its still working ok. Its very light (much lighter than the Trace) and has got flexible output options. Can be bridged - though I ve not tried. Most importantly its got a row of pretty lights that go up and down when you play.... £275 for the lot. Its too heavy to post so have to be pick up from North Essex or something.
