  1. Hi,

I’ve had a USA jazz loaded with some Aero Type 1’s for a few years now and have loved the sound. I had no reason to question the noise I was making with them. Highly rated pickups.

Recently I got re-issue Mexican Jazz with some decent upgrades one of which was the pickups, it’s loaded with some Nordstrand NJSV4’s. God it sounds good. Lots of bark and really makes me smile.

So I’m thinking of trialling some Nords in the USA and do a bit of a comparison.

Out of action for a while after a hand operation, so whilst I deliberate and torture myself of the possibilities I thought I’d put it out there.

Anyone else experience of both, tonal observations?

    Cheers

    Tony

I meanwhile got my MS-3 and I like it a lot. I was always considering the G-System but stayed away due to additional costs with racks and cases. The size was a counter argument as well.
The MS-3 is the perfect Mini-G-System for me.
The effects quality in the delay/chorus range is excellent. I found even the OD - not the DS - which is digital working for me. The bass octaver tracks fine for me as well.
Excellent features are the "Current number" and "Assign" which allow you to stack effects and to trigger additional settings either on/off or momentary.
A sort of EHX Freeze is available as well and great when using the momentary feature.
"Assign" allows you to go from Clean to a whammy with Fuzz and Delay. Endless combinations possible.
Programming on the device is intuitive and straight forward.
Summary: my board got dramatically reduced - no Digitech Whammy, no Nova Delay, no Chorus anymore - all sold. Only the drives and filter are left.
    Cheers
    Wolfgang

Congrats Wolfgang. Seems like you're the first on here to get their hands on an MS-3 (although I think Sibob has one on order too?). If you get a chance to A/B it with a B3n (my current goto multifx, which I'm a big fan of) then that would be very interesting.

I totally get what you're saying about it being able to streamline your pedal board! I know that dedicated pedals are going to be (or should be!) individually better for their specialist effect (particularly as they can EACH cost what my Zoom B3n costs). But I'm not yet convinced, for most gigs below professional level, that any member of the audience is going to notice the difference between dedicated pedals and a half decent multifx for the bass player in the wider live band mix.

So any more thoughts on this now it’s been gigged and abused. That’s also open to anyone else who purchased.

    😀

Not sure you'd justify a GT-1B and a Zoom B3n but it's a good unit. Regarding the fiddly editing.. that's all resolved with a USB cable and Boss Studio app. Dead easy and hugely in-depth.

Disappointing then that to date, there's no artist patches or indeed any uploads on Tone Central other than the two starter libraries - which are a bit 'random'?

Intentions are to have just one unit ideally. 👍

  5. I can’t believe I have only just stumbled upon the existence of the Boss GT-1B! So now I’m intrigued to hear people’s experiences and thoughts. So digging this up.

I do have a Zoom B3n, i find myself more recently using the Tech 21 Flyrig as I find the analogue amp sims just do it for me. I wish it had some presets though like the zoom, so I don’t have to faff in a live situation. What are amp tones like on the Boss? Use?

  6. Hi,

What are the best non pro options for capturing live audio and video.

Im presuming nobody gets anything of any real quality via a mobile device?

What’s best bang for buck? Anything out there under £200 smackers? Cheaper the better.

i was thinking good options for capturing the odd rehearsal or some of my bass playing bad habits !!

    cheers

    Tony
