Michael, i was refering to your DJ4 as it has the Audere in it and my battery comment above was refering to the DJ5 IF i put a Audere in it. Sorry for the confusion.
Mine does not have the Audere in it or not that that I am aware of. Mine is 100% passive as far as I know.
 2.
Cheers. Can the bass be used if the battery dies? Thats always been my big worry with active basses. Not that ive had it happen.
Dave, the DJ is passive.
 3.
What are the stock Lakland pups like? As in Skyline DJ?
Mine sound lush in my DJ4. More than happy with it.
 4.
Yeah but i have a Fender not a Fender copy Of course, come this time next month ill be saying how much better Laklands are to Fenders.
Yeah but your Fender is like the original Beetle where Lakland have improved on the Fender design like Porsche did with the Beetle :):)
 5.
Very good. I'll bide my time......and then strike. EDIT: by the way, i had two that both worked :-)
HAHA I'll be ready for when you strike You may of HAD two but I HAVE one now, as well as a Darryl Jones :):)
 6.
Overcharging again eh
HAHAHA ok, forget the goats and its yours :)
When I do go back to 4 stings I expect I will buy a DD again. I dont really get on with 5 strings.
I fixed that quote for you
 7.
Hmm, maybe i should buy a Duck Dunn then :-)
I have one for sale, you can have for 4 goats, a can of special brew and a packet of space dust
 8.
Oi, thats bit off. what do you mean a "proper" bass player. Ive never been insulted in all my life (to my face anyway;-). Why do i need even 4 strings? I only use one pick. Am i supposed to pluck the thumb rest as well then
hehehehe well a proper car has four wheels, a proper violin has four strings and a proper bass has 4 strings. It's your destiny ...... my son. May the four be with you :)
 9.
Cheers guys (even Michael, thanks father ;-). I think ill have to sell the P5 at some point as it wont get used but for now i think under the bad is a good idea. Out of sight out of mind etc. Until the Mastercard bill comes in. Ive read so many good things about the DJ5 that im not bothered that its a Jazz. Nothing wrong with that of course but its what ive been trying to get away form for the past few years. Im sure im going to love the neck and thats the main reason. Nancy. When i first saw my P5 i wasnt impressed as i was hoping for a whiter white but i thought it played well And it does and for me that the important thing. If only i hadn't played a JO5 last month i would be more than happy to keep the P5. It will be nice to get back to Lakland though.
This is great news and you will love the Lakland. All we have to do now is fix the string problem and get you back to 4 and you'll be back to being a proper bass player soon again :)
 10.
Blah Blah Blah some rubbish about Fenders, white basses, too many strings etc etc Blah Blah Blah Cheers. Before you say anything Michael, yeah, i cracked a lot sooner than expected :-(
Your powers are weak old man, together with our Lakland's we can rule the whole of basschat. Now our Lakland's are fully operational, we can rule the forum together. Welcome to the dark side ...... my son :)
 11.
That's a really nice-looking SB310. On eBay it would probably go for a pathetic £150 +/- £25. At £150 that's a helluva lot of bass for the money ... if you can get it for £100 then you're doing really well. Mind you, these numbers are so laughably small (50 quid each way!) that it almost doesn't matter. Assuming that bass has no "issues", then as a player it will easily blow away any Encore-type copy of a Fender, IMO it will do the same for any Squier-type copy, and quite frankly it will also blow away any MIM Fender. It won't be fashionable and you'll never make much of a trading profit, but you won't regret playing it.
Have to agree with Happy Jack here 100%. For £150, you are getting a bass that is comparable to far more expensive basses. As long as the style and design is to your liking, then you should swap it up. Amazing basses.
 12.
I'd want it painted orange
I said to my wife last night that I want orange bass (only to match Hayley from paramore's hair colour) and she was not overly impressed. A bright Orange Stingray like Perry had would be lush
 13.
AnalogMan Mini Chorus with deep mod - perfect for me
Where can I buy this in the UK?
 14.
With the amount of free music available in west / southwest London, I can't imagine paying anything to see a band if they weren't a 'name' band.
I used to play in an originals band about 8 years ago. We went through the slog of playing up and down the country, building a following and didn't have that much of a problem getting people across the country to see us play. There also seemed to be more of a scene where people would go out and just see bands play live. I now play in a new originals band and we are just starting to get gigs from September to December. Boy is it hard work. Most venues want to know if you can bring anyone rather than reply on people coming out to see bands play and a lot are saying they don't book bands from out of the area. It's certainly a lot harder these days to get gigs.
 15.
I think it is better to use the one that sounds better If you are happy with the sound of the XLR out of your amp and you are not looking for new ways to improve your sound there is no reason to use a separate DI box. Technically speaking, if the DI box is inserted just before the amp input, the signal sent to the PA doesn't go through the first stages of the amp so you instrument is likely it sounds cleaner. It depends on the amp but with a good DI (something like an Avalon U5 for example) I would very surprised if you couldn't hear the difference. “Clean” doesn’t necessarily mean better of course. If you like the sound of an old Ampeg working near the saturation point, you may not like the ultra-clean sound of the bass coming out of a good quality DI. Personally, I love the sound of a very linear, zero-distortion preamplification. I have the feeling it is the real sound of my bass (and my fingers) but I understand it is not for everybody.
To be honest, I don't know what I prefer as I have not gigged the shuttle 6 yet. I was just wondering if there really was a peference to which is considered the better option, DI Box or DI on the head. I guess with all things, there is no easy answer
 16. Sorry if this has been posted before. Found this really nice clip of what appears to be someone busking with a bass. Not a fan of slap but this is done so nicely and subtle. It still remains its melody. Anyway, enjoy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iy3V2Tl4g3s...feature=related
 17. Sorry if a bit of a thread hi-jack but is it best to use the DI on the amp head (Shuttle 6 in this case) or to always use a DI box? If a DI Box is the better method then I to will be looking for a DI Box.
 18.
Last week a friend gave me her bass but I accidently dropped it and damaged it beyond repair so what I wanted is find what sort of bass it is and where I can buy an exact replacement she has gone to America so is as yet she doesn't know it's damaged Here's an image before it was damaged If it helps it has DeArmond and Pilot write on it. I really don't wish to tell her I've broken it so if I can find a replacement it would be much appreciated
Wow, your friend is yummy. Whats the band she's in? I think the best thing to do is to come clean to your friend and offer to buy her a new bass of her choice or offer to get it repaired. As already mentioned, she might notice its not the same bass if you try and trick her by getting an exact copy. My Lakland is mint but the varnish on the neck has faded away in a certain area and probably, I am the only one who would notice this. Her bass might have little things that only she knows about. Plus, if she's a good friend then she will understand and respect you for being honest. Good luck and let us know how it goes.
 19.
well this is the thing! i thought the same when i first got mine, that prehaps it had too much of a mid 'hump' but that changed when i got to gigging with it.to my ears it cuts through the mix better that way.sometimes you have to sacrifice a little something.like when i had my old trace ah300,the 'famous' pre set sounds were beautiful to behold when it was just you playing, but to my ears useless with the rest of the band, just getting lost in the mix.im not slagging t elliot by the way, because it done stirling service for 18 years without so much as a blip!just what i found with it.the shuttle certainly has that mid 'hump'i think most people would agree, whether its the right sound for you time will tell.im going to get drunk now cos its sat night and just sometimes its nice not to have a gig! all the best, jeff
I think your right and in a few weeks time, I'll get to find out as I do my first gig with it. Really can't wait. Oh and I see you have an Ibanex Musician. Very yummy bass. So, are you drunk yet??
 20. I was looking at getting an Artec Chorus as they look great but no idea if they are any good.
 21.
yeah thats what i like about the shuttle, the fact that i think it sounds good with everything set basically flat apart from the odd tweek here and there...simple..like me! i have used a single 112x cab for small pubs which sounds suprisingly good too.i have the tweeters set at 25%.i think its very true that what sounds like a good bass sound when you,re right in front of the amp playing to yourself is not nescessarly the right tone to cut through the mix and be heard at the gig!
The problem I am having is I am getting to much mids but can't seem to work out how to dial it out. Probably sound great live
 22.
Cutting some treble I believe! Alex
Sorry, your right, I am having a few difficulties with numbers at the moment
 23.
hi mike, in answer to you're question of my amp settings,i tend to run the shuttle 6,starting left to right;tube preamp at 1'o clock.volume 12'o clock.low 12.o5.mid at 12.o5.mid freq at12 and high at 9'oclock.as you can tell im not the technical sort but this gives me a nice what i term 'rich smooth non boxy 'tone.thats with an alembic stanley bass.think the whole set up is quite middly anyway but i dont like a boomy sound anyway.ive never heard a neox212 i must admit.jeff genzler said 2 x 112 neoxs would give a fuller sound than a single 212 he reckoned so i trusted his judgement and got em.one persons idea of a good tone may not be anothers i guess but im pleased with things.sorry i cant give you a more technical assessment.all the best of luck, regards jeff
So thats basically everything running flat apart from the high at 9 o' Clock which is just adding some treble right??
 24. Beautiful looking bass. I wish I had the money as I would love a Warwick in my collection and something like this would be ideal.
