  1. Not sure if this has happened to any of you but last week I attended a gig and the bass players amp died during the second set.  As a fellow bass player was in need, I popped out to the car and brought in my head and cab (Markbass and Barefaced). The band and pub were very pleased to say the very least.

Last night I had a gig there and usually only bring one bass but some Jedi force told me to bring a spare.

Just as I hit the first note on the second song the D string broke!

WTF.!  I have a spare. Phew! Quick change over. All is well but had to play 2 sets on the heaviest flatwound Labellas. Aching forearms and tired fingers today.

So pleased I had a back up plan. First time in 30 years it has happened.

    Anybody else got any stories?

  2. I had a rehearsal tonight.  Not feeling very well, had been in bed all day with a high temperature so I guess my tolerance levels were lower than normal.  The drummist was really getting on my nerves tonight.  Playing every song too slowly, playing in between the songs, adding intros where there are none and playing it too straight with no dynamics, too much closed hi hat.  We are a slightly funky blues band and it just sounded very pedestrian.   When it's good it's great but other times....

  3. I'm by no means a prude as I love a good old swear from time to time.  However, at my gym they play hip hop far too loud with tons of swearing.  Not a fan.  Personally find it too aggressive in an already testosterone fuelled environment.

Asked them please could they either turn it down a bit or roll some of the bass off so I don't hear/feel it when I am listening to my music.  They said "we don't always play hip hop, we also play garage and r&b"

    Like there's a difference to me :)

  4. I did a cash bank transfer as I wanted to keep all my bass purchases on the down low for a while :)

its fine, just a bit disappointed that some people feel the need to bump up its condition.  It's all about managing expectations.

Its only a £30 pedal.  At least he sent it.  He could have kept the money and said it got 'lost in the post'
