  1. I've used DHA pedals, VTDI pedal, Orange Terror amp, Randy Jackson Markbass head and then an Ampeg PF500 etc all to get that near impossible wish of a lightweight, loud Ampeg valve head sound.  Then in a moment of unusual personal clarity I thought 'what I really need to buy is a fudging valve amp!'  D'oh!

    I discovered/bought a PF50T shortly after that!  Couldn't be happier.

  2. Yes. Maybe. YMMV, etc

The past is the past and there is only the now.  It all depends on what you want it to do.  I love the look and feel of classic cars (especially a Mercedes 280SE) but I wouldn't have one as my everyday car.  This will give you a close approximation of the look and sound of the old classic amps but with modern reliability.  Plus at just over £400 new with warranty you can't go wrong.  However, If you want to spend £2,000 on a 50 year old amp that will get easily damaged in transit and you will struggle to get parts for, knock yourself out. I would love an old B15 but it would never leave the house.  Which would be a crime I'm not willing to commit.

  3. It will probably be a good 3 months before you are gigging. So start by booking yourself up some gigs now. In the mean time pop along to some local jam nights as a band. I have done this. Very valuable. Film it too so you can pop it on your website/social media to make yourselves look busier than you actually are. As said before, it will help overcome nerves too and iron out/flag up any weak spots too.
