Hermes Next Day is dodgy at the best of times, absolutely NO chance at the moment.  A delay of 3 days is common.  I posted something first class signed for last Friday, and it is yet to have arrived.

Pah! Amateur! 🤣🤣 I posted a parcel with Herpes on the 18th Oct and I'm still chasing it! 😮😁

  2. I've tried out a number of pieces of software to help me learn tracks and the one I found best is the "Amazing Slow Downer". Yes I agree its not the best named package but it does a lot more than it says on the tin. 🙂 The website is HERE. You could use the trial version to see if its what you're looking for before paying. It's about £50 so not cheap but after trying others out I was happy to pay for its simplicity, quality and convenience.

It has a simple interface which allows the usual pitch / speed changes but also you can set loops to practice specific riffs, adjust EQ to help hear the bass. The two elements that sold it for me were the quality of the sound when you really slow a track down. Its not perfect but didn't break up as much as a lot of the others I tried. The other one is that you can save several presets to one track. This means I can come back to a song, recall a preset that changes the pitch / speed / selects a specific loop / apply the EQ within seconds. Great if you want to gradually build up speed on a riff, you can keep increasing the tempo and then save it as a reference point.

Are these pickup Nordstrand made  for Sadowsky ?

    Hi @tom

That's a very good question and the answer is......(drum roll)......I'm not exactly sure 🤔 I've done some digging around and found the following which may / may not be of any help:

    • The pickups in my bass only have Sadowsky marked on the cases (unless another knowledgable Basschatter can point to any identification / manufacturing marks?)
    • Doing an internet search brings up some history but nothing conclusive - In this 2001 link from Talkbass from Roger says they've only used DiMarzio, Basslines and EMG up to that point.
    • image.png.af9d239185053e48787a0754d47cf759.png
    • This thread from 2014 says that Nordstrand were offered for a while as an option (quote #6) which infers to me that it would be more likely to be in a NYC custom and not my Metroline (could be wrong though)
    • image.png.3154b5c9af5eabc18ee0fec9d907da00.png
    • This thread from 2009 narrows it down a little to show that Sadowsky/Nordstrand setups started around the time of my bass being built so it could be a possibility but I cant be sure. 🤔

So in conclusion I think my answer is pretty inconclusive...sorry! I do know that whoever made them they were good enough to get the Sadowsky approval and do sound very nice 🙂

  4. Ian has just bought my Status S2 from me. He came round to try the bass and we spent over 2 hours playing and talking all things bass. 👍 He's a true gent and I'm very happy to recommend doing business with him. 😁 Have fun with the bass Ian.

  5. It's a shame no-ones gone for the "Pitza Kustom" as I thought it worked very well as a complete unit. I've now started to strip the bass down into its components and will be using some of them on other basses / projects. In the coming weeks I'll probably put the remaining bits up for sale on here 😁

I've marked this post as SOLD so it gets locked.🙂

  6. For sale (or trade) is my Sadowsky M5-24 Modern 5 string and lightweight “hard” case. This is one of the Japanese Metroline made basses and not Warwick or NYC. Lovely bass and I have enjoyed our time together but I’m looking for a change in the basses I have……

I would give it a 9.5 / 10 for condition with only a couple of small marks that I can see and have added pics. Current Warwick Metroline M5-24 are costing around £2,400.

Make & Model: Sadowsky M5-24 Modern (Japanese Metroline)

    Made: Approx. 2009

    Serial Number: M3170

Body & Top: Swamp ash body with a 59’ sunburst gloss polyurethane lacquer on body

Neck: Bolt on, maple, gloss polyester lacquer on neck, graphite rods

    Scale Length: 34 inch

Fingerboard: Maple. 24 frets – 2 octave. Side and front dot markers

    String Spacing: 19mm

Hardware: Machine heads and bridge in chrome. Strap locks fitted

Truss Rod: Dual action – fully functional

Pick Ups: 2 Sadowsky soap-bar pickups

Controls: Sadowsky with VTC – 9 volt active pre-amp. Volume, blend, treble, bass, VTC (variable tone control) with push / pull for active / passive

Strings: Fitted with D'Addario, Pro Steels XL, EPS300-5

    Case: Lightweight foam “hard” case

    Weight: 8.8lbs / 4kg

    Website Links: https://www.sadowsky.com/sadowsky-instruments/metroline-basses/24-fret-basses/

Shipping Weight: Approx. 10kg / 22lb. Shipping will be at cost. Msg me with your postcode and I will get a price.

Trade wise I'm pretty much sorted for basses at the moment and would prefer a straight sale but I could be interested in a Fodera Emperor, JCR, Sei etc., 5 string with active electronics, 24 frets, 18 / 19 mm spacing. Try me, you never know!

I’ve got good feedback on here, see the link in my signature. Any questions, ask away. 🙂

  7. For sale (or trade) is my Status S2 Classic 5 string and original Status hard case. Lovely bass and I have enjoyed our time together but I’m looking for a change out of the basses I have……

I would give it a 9.5+ / 10 for condition. No dints or marks that I can see only some slight surface swirls which I couldn’t get to photograph! Current price list shows the S2 bolt on costing £2,625. Status have closed their order book for the moment as they have a lot of orders to complete so there could be a long wait for a new one.

    • Make & Model: Status S2 Classic, 5 string, headless
    • Made: Approx. 2014
    • Serial Number: 02143670
    • Body & Top: Mahogany body with walnut centre tone-block, coloured pin-stripe and book-matched figured maple facings. Natural satin polyurethane lacquer on body
    • Neck: Headless, bolt on, graphite woven, gloss polyester lacquer on neck
    • Scale Length: 34 inch
    • Fingerboard: Phenolic. 24 frets – 2 octave. Side dot markers only
    • String Spacing: 18mm
    • Nut: Zero fret & headless system
    • Hardware: Machine heads and bridge in black. Strap locks fitted
    • Truss Rod: Dual action – fully functional
    • Pick Ups: 2 Status soap-bar pickups
    • Controls: Standard Status – 18 volt active pre-amp. Volume, blend, treble, variable mid frequency, bass, switch for mid cut / flat / boost

  8. Way too early to go! Sad to hear the new as he did build both "out there" and useable instruments. I remember seeing some of his melt top creations and immediately added it to my "wanted" list. It took me a number of years to find one (in the States) and bring it back home. Played it regularly for about 5 years. 😥
