1.
Here you go, 30 pages of discussion covering everything you want to know - http://basschat.co.u...ge__hl__dubstep Get reading! As a side note - Enter Shikari. The bass player plays clean bass only. No effects at all. All the Dubstep stuff is done with a computer and synth by Rou. Disappointing!
Thanks for that. I have a good read about it Yes I also know about Shikari playing playing clean notes except for this song! I know as it is in numerous live video as Rou (Vocals and electronics) is away from his gear when the breakdown starts.
2.
Is this what you're looking for? https://www.youtube....h?v=wUpGfj9ZJMA
Not really. I'm not into all that wahs and stuff to be fair even though it is a pretty cool device. The tone is not quite right too, it needs to be gritty and low. This sounds cheesy in my opinion and is not quite the sound I'm looking for. Thanks any way
3. All right this genre may not be popular around here, but I'm really interested in getting that sound of an electronic bass sound. Yes, I know there are synth pedals, but they sound really cheesy and from the 80's. I want it too sound deep and rich to give that feel of Dubstep or Drum N' Bass and the overdrive/distortion pedals are too much and too high. I know about the hot hand and I'm not really interested in the wahs or doing stuff like Skrillex but stuff like Pendulum instead. The main reason is that I just want to something different as I like to do different things alot on my bass, whether one minuet I'm playing some Brit rock, the next metalcore so to add a whole load of electronic genres would be cool. To get that sound would be great as I could play lots of different stuff and experiment more and play stuff from more bands like Pendulum and Hadouken! but also stuff from bands that don't even use a real bass like Modestep and Chase & Status. So just the plain clean simple sound instead please. Here are three good examples of what sound I want to get... Hadouken - Rebirth (Starts at around 2:00) This is the sound I would most like out of all of them, it is the perfect example. It keeps that Drum N' Bass feel but uses a real one! Not a phoney synth one! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E8R1sYWEKEw Enter Shikari - Arguing With Thermometers (The is different pedals used in this but the sound I'm interested in starts at 1:25) I liked this one from hearing it and I think it is really good and it has a similar sound to it, but it is more Dubstep, but I do like a bit of diversity. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DUnNW-nbots Pendulum - Tarantula (There is a regular bass at the start then there is a synth one later starts at around 0:50) I think this is played by using a synth one (or it was created by using one, they play it more rocky libe to be fair though) but it is still a cool sound in my opinion and I want to do it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zVch_PK7SOY The first two defiantly use real basses as I have seen them live and I'm not to sure about the second one, I don't think it is as I think is uses a synth bass but I can still play it with my bass right now. Any advice on how to achieve this would be great as I don't have much knowledge on pedals whatsoever, but I know a combination of them is needed, but which ones? Thanks very much Ciaran
4.
That takes me back! I had completely forgotten about Enter Shikari. At the time I thought they were hopeless posh boys, but one of my mates learned the guitar part to Jonny Sniper, so I learned the bass part and we used to jam to it. I always quite liked that song despite being quite embarrassed to admit it. Some of it is quite naff, but some of the parts where the guitar is picking out those little lines with the bass driving beneath it, and the lockup between the guitars and the drums...are actually quite good!
Yeah, Jonny Sniper has some quite good stuff and I do have to admit the lyrics are a bit naff but I think that Chris Batten is actually a good bassist to be honest. Some of it is quite hard and fun to play! Like Arguing With Thermometers (again some naff lyrics) the chorus is brilliant piece of bass work and with the pedals he uses he gets a proper dubstep sound out of it! It makes me happy
5.
iPlayer, dear boy. http://www.bbc.co.uk..._Guitar_Heroes/
Silly me! I always forget about iPlayer! I'll be sure to watch it then
6. I have never heard of him (I'm 16, I have a terrible music taste so but get angry with me please) but this does sound interesting! I bet it was great and interesting. It makes me feel bad that when I go to see band live all I do is mosh (I only really go to those types of concerts anyway)
7. My dad was telling me to watch this if it came on BBC 4 like you can watch the old Top Of The Pops, if I see it again I may give it a go but even if I knew Slipknot live in London in 2002 would have be too much to resist so I would have watched the samething!
8. Radiate - Enter Shikari, love the heavy electronic synth intro and is a lot like their older stuff Homesick (album) - A Day To Remember, love this album! Ever song is great May not be what the average basschat user listens to, but I'm 16 years old with a terrible music taste
9. I couldn't find any tutors dedicated to bass only ones that teach guitar first and since being at school I don't have time to travel for 45 minuets to get a lesson so I had to teach my self and I know I could be doing better with a tutor but I'm making progress.
10. Nothing yet but know I'm going to be listen to Lostprophets as I'm seeing them soon.
11.
All 6 strings are like this!!!! (strings too close together) - it's the nature of the beast!!!!!!
Oh, sorry I have never owned one and I'm still a noob sort of when it comes to this.and I couldn't even tell that it was a guitar XD
12. I really want one of these basses badly as I has tried the VM 77 jazz and I love but it is close to the CV precision and I maybe will go for a MIM the choice is too much!
13.
Nah, a healthy dose of Man Up is a lot more effective. But you have my every sympathy. My left thumb lost an argument with a kitchen knife on Sunday night. Made practice last night quite interesting!
Yer! I'm a bit of wimp really and a hypercondriac as well! Well I had a bit of a argument with the cupboard in my bathroom to get mine minor injury but hey what I'm going do!
14. Oh dear! This is why I would never buy online! You get a product that doesn't suit you because you didn't try it out first! Oh well it is still a lovely looking bass and maybe people might remember with it looking like that! Only kidding mate people that forget about the bassists are d*cks!
15. Its not that important of a practice and I have work to do anyway and I think I may have over exaggerated the situation and its not that painful now but it is still a pest to play with. But thanks to all the advice anyway.
16. Right guys I have injured my finger (don't ask) and it has become painful to press down on the fret-board making some song difficult to play being it my strongest finger and I use it figure out wear to place my other fingers. If it was any other finger I would be okay even if it was my right index finger cause at least I could use a pick. Could anyone give some advice on what to do to help or just some exercises I could do for the time being. I need this as soon as possible as I'm going to band practice tomorrow so I need to resolve the situation. Any sort of help would be great. Thanks
17. It really bugs me as I search for something and most of it comes from the US
18. I do agree with a lot that's being said as I find tab (especially on songsterr) can be wrong but it helps me learn a song but I'm sure if I learnt it by ear it would sound much closer to the real thing but I don't have time to do it by ear.
19. I managed to find them on big bass tabs but its really stupid as is it not the whole purpose of music to create and share?
20. Hi guys I have noticed a problem when looking of feeder bass tabs on ultimate guitar they all all appear to be taken down! When you try to go on one this message appears... "This tablature has been made unavailable in your country at the request of the rights owner." Its the same for all the guitar tabs and chords, so what has caused this to happen? I think it is copy right that has caused but its only feeder that is like that. I'm not really bothered getting them on ultimate guitar as I can get them else where on the internet but I would like to add them to my favorites on the ultimate guitar app.
21. I love Muse and when I first heard it I didn't like (mainly due to Chris playing a synth guitar and not bass like a boss) but when I heard it again from start to finish I loved it and I can't wait for the new album!
22.

Even though shows what the modern person thinks of bass players it still made me laugh!
23. Someone else said to me why "Why do you play bass in your band?" then the guitarist then shouts me to play Hysteria again. But I think it just because I'm in school I get this sort of response but it doesn't bother me really.
24.
we often hear of peeps putting P necks on the J body but ive never seen a J neck on a P body unless of course anybody knows different ....
The Mark Hoppus Fender signature jazz bass is kinda one of them as it a P-bass with a J neck or you could say it is actually a J bass with P pickups to be fair. Either way I wouldn't chose it because it doesn't have a tone nob.
25. To be fair I didn't play bass to be a hero I did it because I liked the instrument and I still do, its just people just tend to ignore it as you can barely hear it over the guitar as I told my brother to listen to a a bass in a song and he couldn't hear it but it all I look out for in a song really. I should have added their are notable exceptions like Flea form Red Hot Chili Peppers for example.
