1. Thanks for the input everyone. ezbass - dangerous suggestion that! Ha! chris_b - I must admit, I have been impressed with the Lull basses over the years!
2. I see where you're coming from there chris_b. As I said in my original post, I've bought a jazz, but I keep coming back to my P bass. And I love my P bass as it is. I'd just like the option to have some of that Jazz bass honk I suppose. That's what's got me thinking about the pickup addition. Adding the extra pickup must give me that honk. Surely.
3. That sounds like a cracking idea. Hadn't thought of doing that. Thanks pal!
4. Good shout. No idea...had a quick look, but couldn't really make much sense out of their product range.
5. Whatcha'... Just wondering what 5 String Precisions are out there in the mid to high-end price range (I guess that's £500 and above)? i know Fender make one that's £1500 new. Then there's the odd Lakland. Mike Lull do them, and Overwater, both around £2k. Any others nearer the £1k mark? Thanks J
6. Oi oi people, I'm thinking about getting my Highway One Precision made into a P/J. It's something I've been throwing around in my head for years. This isn't something i'm 100% sure about doing yet. I simply love my P bass just the way it is. But I've hankered after some Jazz honk for yonks. So, in an effort to appease that, I finally bought a Jazz bass last week (which is a beauty). However...one week on, and oodles of bass lines later...I still find myself smiling more when I'm playing my P bass. Don't get me wrong, the Jazz is AWESOME - it does things the P never could - but, it seems I'm a P bass fanboy at heart. ...cutting a long-winded story a little bit short... I'm thinking about biting the bullet and having the Precision P/J'd. Couple of questions/concerns...

Will I lose any of my basses current tone if I simply add J pup at the bridge? I'm guessing not, because I could always dial roll the Jazz pickup off and go with the P pup solo'd, right?
What pickup would be a good pair with the Kent Armstrong Hot Vintage P pup? Or, would I be best off installing a pair of new pickups that are more suited together, rather than trying to marry something to the Kent Armstrong pup?
On the "which pickup" front...I'm definitely after traditional tones. And I'm not sure why, but I'm quite taken with the thought of Aguilar or Nordstrand pickups. In fact, I see both do P/J sets ready made. Anyway, I guess I'm kind of just looking for some input from you kind folks. And I thank you in advance for any thoughts you might have. Thanks for reading, and have a good one. J

8. Ovi just bought my Sadowsky VTC kit. Easy chap to deal with, even with the location differences...no problems at all. Thanks very much Ovi. I hope the VTC kit brings you many happy hours of bass playing.

11. Had a cracking transaction with Matthew. He bought my EBS Octabass. Paid promptly. Didn't mess me about in any way at all. Top chap! Thanks pal.
12. Hi, Bought this about 5 years ago to have installed on my Metro bass at the time. Never got it done...the bass is long since gone! It's literally only just been taken out of the bubble wrap to be photographed. This'll allow you to add a tone control to a Sadowsky's pre-amp that doesn't have one. Pretty neat. They're currently $75, with $50 shipping...and then UK custom charges (mine were about £15). With the current exchange rate, that'd see you paying about £115... Mine is £80 delivered to mainland UK (happy to ship elsewhere for the cost). Any questions, etc., PM me. Thanks for looking. Jamie
13.
some fuzzes will work for you that sound awful to others! so best bet is to try a few the ehx muff never really worked in my setup, now the cog and the fuzzrocious muff sound great! also work a gander is the green carrot pedals pumpkin pie! 2 sick fuzzes, and for octave fun as well the Redwitch Zeus is fantastic!
Thanks for that stuff. Sounds like I won't have much beer money for a while 😜

15.
A Moog LPF eh? Now yer talkin.. I never looked back after getting mine. My favourite pedal hands down.
Yeah man...want to be able to create some pretty whacky sounds. I think the Moog is a must for that. Not going to lie though...most of this stuff goes waaaaay over my head. I'm just enjoying messing about with stuff. I play bass for a mate who writes sing/song writer kind of stuff. We've just released an album. Next one is going to be a lot more whacky...less conventional. We jammed a bit yesterday with my pedals and it was pretty exciting stuff. As for the fuzz stuff...think I'm going to get my hands on a Fuzz Against The Machine pedal 😎 I've noticed my Bottle Rocket is fairly noisy. It's just sending any and every sound mental. Even when I'm not playing...its picking up frequencies and going nuts. ...though, I think that was mainly when I had it after the Ibanez synth pedal. I can't remember for sure. Always have loved that Bottle Rocket though.
16. Thanks for the info and the input guys. I've messed about with my Mesa Boogie Bottle Rocket a bit and got a nice sound with that. But I'm no genius. Just sounds good to me. Got the signal going... OC2 > Mesa Boogie Bottle Rocket > Ibanez Bass Synth Sounds pretty naughty. Wouldn't mind trying out some other fuzzes though...and a Moogerfooger LP1.
17. Thanks for that pal. I'll have a goosey. Just watched a video with the Pump Lab Fuzz Against The Machine pedal in...oooph!!!
18. Hi gang. Bit of a long shot this one, but can anyone recommend any bands/artists with a similar sound to Cloudeater? Here's a YouTube video of them for those of you who've not heard of them... https://youtu.be/AquHBSvT0jc Thanks folks. J
19. Oi oi folks! Bit of a brain fart/dump coming up...apologies. I'm getting into some weird sounds at the moment. Most recently, the band Cloudeater, and some of John Davis' stuff with Nerve. Seems he's using a Zvex Woolly Mammoth for his fuzz. Now, I'm new to fuzz and what not. But, I've been have a gander online...seems the Aguilar Fuzzistor is a bit naughty. Can the more knowledgable amongst you help me figure out the differences between the Aguilar Fuzzistor and the Zvex Woolly Mammoth please? Or, of course...through in some other thoughts. Bit of context...i've got a Mesa Boogie Bottle Rocket, Boss OC2 and an Ibanez Bass Synth. I've not yet used the Bottle Rocket successfully with the OC2 and Synth...I want to get nice oh at fuzz in there, hence this thread. Thanks in advance for your help and input everyone. J
