1.
Can't see the pickups

I can't see the pups either. Any idea of weight?
No you can't see them! I can upload pictures of the pickups if you want but they're just the standard pups that come as factory standard in the american special precisions. Body unloaded weighs almost dead on 2kg
2. Up for grabs again! I have a Fender American Special precision body in black, the loaded pick guard with the original pickups, the grease bucket circuit and the chrome control tops. The body does not come with screws, the neck plate etc. This would make a great p if paired with a nice neck! The body in immaculate condition no chips or dinks just some light swirling. The scratch plate still has the protective film on it. It's almost unplayed. Never been gigged. Will consider splitting if there's enough interest. I also have the tuners going as well. Looking for £235 + Shipping
3. Having a parts clear out! x1 Hipshot HB7 in black £12 x1 Fender style Bridge £9 x9 Fender Mexican tuning machines taken from American Specials + 4 bushings. Looking for £18 for a set of 4 or £6 a piece.
4. I've chosen to move my beloved Tony Franklin precision on. I've owned this for a fairly long time and believe I'm the second owner. It's done a couple of UK tours and been used on a few of my bands records. The previous owner replaced the neck plate to a standard 'F' logo as apposed to the TF. The strap buttons have also been replaced with schaller strap locks. After time they worked themselves loose so they have had the wood glue + wood filings treatment. They're now rock solid. This bass has been gigged. It has some dinks from general gigging and use almost every day. There is one significant battle scar between the selector switch and the volume pot. Some idiot knocked it flying at a gig and it had the unhappy ending of pairing with the top of a flight case, it' about a 1-2mm deep as much as it pains me to say it. The frets have some general wear as well, nothing too serious but just thought I'd mention it! This will be reflected in the price. I've upgraded the bridge to a Full Contact Babicz bridge. This has allowed me to get a super low action. The locking screw on the G string worked it way lose during a gig an that was the end of that unfortunately. I'm sure a replacement will be easy to source, it's not actually effected the function of the bridge what so ever. I can not stress how the action makes this almost effortless to play. The tuning machines have been changed to Hipshot HB-2s, the E is currently fitted with a original fender one as I was using a Xtender that's now been moved to another bass. I'll have a look for the other hipshot machine, alternatively I can put all the fender machine heads back on and knock some money off. - Same goes for the bridge actually. Overall this has to be one of the nicest fenders I've had the pleasure of owning and playing. It generally feels like a quality instrument in the hands. The Nitro finish is outstanding to quote "It's so shiny" - Drummer. The neck is superb. Nice and slim, really fast and no tacky feeling from the finish. The actually tone of the instrument is fantastic. Especially the J pup with the P pup. 5. No need for this now! I also have the tuners going as well if there's any interest. Looking for £225 + Shipping It comes in dead on 2Kg on the scales, the angles makes it look a little over!
6. Once I have landed tomorrow I'll post a sound comparison to the new flex steels, NYXL's and maybe the XL's if I've got any floating around. Sorry it's taken so long!
7.
That is beautiful Dan, you must be really chuffed with that.
For my first ever build, I'm over the moon! Thanks for the kind words.
8. So I spent the weekend putting her together. See the results below! Seriously impressed I must say. The neck is laser straight, got a nice low action. A true breeze to set up and the thing growls! 9.
Great stuff. I'm a great fan of Warmoth. Bit pricey but very good products
Very true! Was finding it hard to source the right coloured body so I pulled the trigger on a warmth body. Build starts this evening!
10. Lindy Fralin pickups on the way and a Fender American special neck sorted. Hopefully I'll start building this Thursday!
11. So I've finally decided to start a thread for my first build (reference photo below). I've been lusting after a 70's mocha brown precision bass for years now so thought this would be a great thing to have a go at building. So far... I am Currently waiting on delivery for my Warmoth transparent brown alder body. The electronics and pick guard are sorted. I still need to source: • 70's styled neck + tuners etc • Pickups (Lindy Fralins) • Pickup covers • Bridge • Thumb rest • Screws etc
12. I'd like to try out a 4 string set please! Got a couple of tours coming up. Would be great to compare them to the standard D'Addario nickel wounds I'm currently using!
13. You wouldn't part the neck out would you? (worth a try)
