    [s]For sale, the set of Rotosound superb strings that were on my db when I got it.

    They were new on when I bought it and while they look, sound and feel really lovely for pizz playing I need to be able to play arco at times too so have switched them for a set of spiro weichs.

    The E and A are tapewound monel and the D and G are nylon wound and look a bit like gut strings.

    £120 for the set new, these are barely used and in excellent condition, no parting of any windings and just a little 'furring' of the tail-end silk.

    we now have frets, the neck carve is almost there (he now has my '78 to borrow so he can fine-tune the carve) body has been sanded back to clear coat only and looks rather lovely as-is

    [s]For sale, the set of ti jazz flats that were on my fretless ray 4 when I bought it, I've not given them any use besides working out they're too light for me and they were new on when I got the bass...

    Cut for a 3+1 stingray tuner layout and looking/feeling essentially new.

    The tailgut is on my list of things to do (along with a new bridge, tailpiece and a few other bits when I get some more cash together) it shows no visible signs of metal fatigue or any sign of having been touched in decades but yes I've heard horror stories and it's definitely on my 'to-do' list :D

    It's very nicely built and very sturdy indeed, there's a massive convenience to having the fixed length endpin to just slot in when you setup, I've only had a very brief go with it and soundwise I need a more sustained time to play in a quiet house and do a comparison to be able to hear the full difference :)

    1 on front but you can barely see it
    1 on back where the body attaches to the stand, and
    1 at the top of the headstock.

    '78 p bass - looks and sounds perfect, occasional seasonal niggles and no current back-up in case of disaster
    2016 Shuker p bass (incoming - clone of my '78 for greater seasonal stability and a few modern appointments)

    Orange OTB500 - backup head in case of disaster (currently being repaired...)

    ...body and neck have now had tinted lacquer applied so I popped in for a look and the neck looks absolutely stunning! The body looks beautiful but is darker than I was wanting so it's getting redone much lighter...

    and here's the back, the basic carve is done, next step after fretting is the more delicate carving for which he'll be borrowing my 'donor' bass so try and get the carve feeling as similar as possible :)

    Having tried Tom's Duke with his Walnut endpin I'll be getting one for my own db once I've fettled one or two bits on it, probably oak as she's even sounding but of mellow tone...first job is to repair her current endpin and then try her with some spiro strings to get a better idea of what she sounds like to know which wood to go for :)
