2. Our live set is diversifying and a fretless is becoming very useful, tried it with my fretless ray but the sound is just too different from my Shuker Nr1 so I'm scoping out a fretless PJ to complement my Nr1 & Nr2 Shuker P basses...then I really am done...I think...

Here's the top wood, Burr Elm rescued from the great Sheffield tree cull by a friend of Jons'

The body will be swamp ash again to keep the core sound similar to my fretted P basses.
Seymour Duncan SPB-1 as per my other basses but adding an SJB-1b at the bridge so I can mix it in occasionally for that extra mid fretlessy-ness.
Ebony fingerboard cos Jon has found a lovely piece of dark Ebony.

3. As my first Shuker P turned out rather spectacularly (http://basschat.co.uk/topic/276145-shuker-p-bass-78-clone/page__fromsearch__1) I managed to convince my lovely wife that a second one would be a good idea :D

Teensy bit different this time, same finish, same hardware and electrics, body made from the same piece of swamp Ash but this time with a flamed white Ash droptop and a stained Sycamore pinstripe as well as a Rosewood fingerboard, I love a Rosewood board...

this will be the veneer for the top

oh god... I'm in love.

THAT is just perfect. If it sounds and feels maybe 10% of how it looks, it would be a superb instrument... wow.

6. [s]For sale, my spectacular 90s Stingray fretless!

The serial number dates the bass to 1994 (yes it's 'that' age when the bridge had the string mutes!).

It was originally a fretted bass but a previous owner has fitted the bass with a 1997 EBMM fretless neck. The two have married perfectly and have produced a magnificent bass.

The neck is constructed from a rather nice piece of birdseye maple as were most Musicman basses in the 90s, the fingerboard is, as expected, Pau Ferro as all MM fretless basses.
Condition wise this beauty is virtually pristine with only a minor scuff under the forearm and a couple of tiny marks on the end of the headstock, I've tried to capture these in the pics (see below).
Currently fitted with schaller strap lock buttons, comes with its original hardshell Musicman case and is currently fitted with La'Bella 45-105 flat wound strings. I can also happily leave the minotaur leather strap in the case as it looks especially dapper with the bass ;)

Weight 9.8lb.

I bought it because I couldn't afford a Wal fretless and it really does sound and feel superb, nails 'the Pino' and several other fretless tones with ease.

Am only selling because the active-ness of the sound doesn't quite work with the deep passive roundness of my main Shuker P bass for the band so I'm wanting to have a fretless PJ built to match :)

Bass is in Sheffield and I can ship within the UK. Most likely no trades as I need cashish to fund my fretless build :)[/s]
