  1. The clearout pt2...

Here we have my obc210 cab, only got this recently, it looks like it could be new so I robbed the roqsolid cover from the obc115 to keep this looking smooth and lovelty, only had chance to use it a couple of times in rehearsal but it sounds fantastic!

They don't make these anymore (in either colour), not a clue why as they sound superb, admittedly making a black orange cab sounds a bit nuts but, hey ho

why sell? need the space, I have this, a 115 and 2 410 cabs, they're all a bit heavy for my back now too so I'm going to have to jump ship to barefaced to avoid doing myself a mischief.

I've a couple of cabs for sale on here, if you want more than one we can definitely work out a combined price, especially if it helps a quick sale.

Happy to meet up within roughly an hour's drive of Hope Valley (S33 6SB), offers / pricing disagreement etc pm me, check out my feedback too https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/138660-feedback-for-andydye

We also gig up and down a fair bit so there's a possibility we might be playing somewhere near-ish to you (nowt in the diary for Wales or Scotland just now alas) so could sort out something, drop me a msg and we can compare geography

  2. The clearout begins...

here we have my trusty obc115 cab, I've had this for a good few years and it's been looked after, a few minor cosmetic blems here and there but it's completely sound. Speaking of sound, I fired it up the other day to make sure all was still well with it and it sounds lush, got a surprisingly sweet top end to it but plenty of heft and lush bottom end.

Might be worth getting a WIFi analyser app. It will tel you whether you are ion the same channel as anyone else close by. I use one to make sure there will

not be any conflicts with the digital mixer WiFi. Oddly I used it yesterday to check my home WiFi and found out that many networks locally were on the Dane channel.

Windows has WiFi Analyser, iOS had Airport Utility and I think there is an Android one too.

now that's an excellent idea, thankyou!

in other news...my g55 performed flawlessly at the weekend in the midst of a crusty festival in the woods with wireless pa shizz goin on too

There are two power settings for the transmitter. If it's in power save mode, the signal won't be as strong. Press SELECT for two seconds to go into setup, then press it again to go to page 2, and use VALUE to toggle between Hi and Lo. Of course, if it's already on Hi, that wasn't the issue. Press SELECT two or three more times to get out of setup.

thanks dude, pretty sure it's been on hi all along but it's something I haven't checked in a while :)

I’ve a box full of CDs, LPs, magazines where we’ve been interviewed or reviewed, plus t-shirts be they our own merch or festival tees where the band played. This only relates to my last band though.

so no storage hacks for keeping them straight and in order but so you can look through them with out causing a kerfuffle?

  6. Our originals band (The Fargo Railroad Co.) have been around for nearly 9 years now and I've been carefully collecting set lists, show posters, festival band/lanyards etc all that time, I now have a mahoosive pile of stuff that I want to keep so we can look back at it when we're too old to play and reminisce on the crazy times and the good times...

    Questions...

    Does anybody else do this?

    How do you do it?

I’ve been using a Line6 G50 for a long long time, probably 10 years. I’ve had no bad experiences or signal dropout although a previous guitarist had the same unit and I would cause his to drop out if I got between his transmitter and receiver even though we were on different channels. He moved his receiver to his pedal board and the problem was solved. I’d love another transmitter pack as I often swap fretted to fretless, but they are bloody expensive!

I've had mine for almost as long and it was fine for most of that time, it's only more recently that they've started dropping out and it's infuriating as I can't work out what does or doesn't make it happen, I've tried different transmitters, receivers, cables, basses, rooms, trousers, phone in pocket / out of pocket.

I'm going to gather all the bits of wireless kit that I've accumulated together tonight, I've definitely got 3 receivers on various boards and also maybe 4 or 5 transmitters somehow, I may have spares for the spares and if yours is behaving nicely I've probably got a spare transmitter and cable...

I used a Line6 G30 for years with no problems and only sold it as I wanted a bug type transmitter.  Unfortunately the used Line6 G10S I bought has constant dropout issues so is consigned to home use only (where it still has the issues).

I bought a Sennheiser XSW-D pedalboard wireless last year that also has a built in tuner.  It’s been rock solid so far and I’m very happy with it.  Might be worth checking out if you haven’t done so already.

Yesterday I was googling in desperation to see if anybody had anything in stock and the general answer seemed to be 'NOPE', suspect this is a general stock shortage due to the silicon chip shortage?

I was looking at Sennheiser and Shure, even contemplated the boss one but that had bad reviews for the battery door always flopping open, ended up finding a 'b stock' line6 g55 which should be arriving today and will hopefully NOT cut out

  8. Having done a bit of googling, it looks very much like the drop-out is a known issue with 'some' line6 units, I just appear to have all of them at my house for some reason :/

seriously considering jumping to Sennheiser, would've been Shure but they have discontinued their GLX products  :(

I had a Shure system and it was ok until it wasn't. I've used line 6 and experienced irritating drop outs on occasions.

My current wireless is a Lekato  WS50 which comprises a pair of 5.8ghz 'bugs'. £30 off an eBay seller and never once given me any sort of an issue.

I regularly gig for over three hours without a break, and they've always done this without needing a charge. The sound is entirely indistinguishable from high quality cable and I cannot imagine how any other system could possibly improve upon them.

I'm having this exact issue with my g50, I've tried swapping out the transmitter, and the receiver, it makes no difference and still keeps cutting out. v annoying!

Everyone will be recommending their own favourites.

Don't bother with the knock-off get properly branded Dunlops or Schallers.

I've used both (and my preference is for the Schallers) and they each have their strengths and weaknesses.

The Schallers need to be fitted properly otherwise you will encounter problems. That means enlarging the hole in the strap to accommodate the the lock part of the mechanism, and that the button sits in the base of the cup when the bass is hanging from the strap and not the open end, and then that you tighten everything up securely

defo don't get knock offs, totally agree!

My choice is schaller too, never let me down, although I do regularly check that the screw in the body are still tight on my oldest sets before the hex key ones that seem solid as rock!

In terms of sound, it’s excellent with no noticeable latency.

The battery packs in the transmitters are Shure’s own and they last very well on a single charge. They are replaceable as well, not that I’ve ever needed to. I did a four hour rehearsal last night starting with a freshly charged pack. I reckon that same pack will see me through tomorrows soundcheck and the whole gig as well before I need to change over to my back up pack. Another thing I really like about the Shure system is the clips on the transmitters are excellent. They are so strong and clip sturdily to a belt, back pocket, strap or whatever you want without the need for a pouch. A very well thought out and solid design.

oo, thanks for the info there, it does sound like they're an upgrade from my g50 mebbe then. I'm just switching over to peterson tuners though so is it easy to deactivate the shure tuner bit?

could you detect any sound quality improvement when you went to the shure?

how do you get on with the rechargeable packs or do you use AA rechargeables?

  14. I've a bunch of the line6 g50 setups across my pedal boards and they've always been ok for me, only once had an issue which was last weekend and I needed to change channel as it connected to the house radio mic frequencies...2 min fix

doesn't mean I wouldn't be interested in trying the shure stuff if it's the bees knees
