Have built two, with Nova bridges. Lovely and light, hold tuning well. Great stuff. @Andre_Passini is a member here.

What's the scale length on this one?

I bought John’s Helix, picking it up at his house. Great guy, he gave a really good deal and was nothing but welcoming. Highly recommended!

Lovely 🤩, next build going to be glass?

Why did he want a single pickup so high up? It looks a bit odd to my eyes, but then, it's not my guitar, so tough!
He has a double humbucker Strat, but only uses the neck pickup. So he basically wanted to just have a guitar with just the single …. I obliged
Wouldn’t be my choice, but hey ho…

Anyway, I routed the pickup / control cavity and neck …. Now up to him to finish.
The logo is laser engraved - such a great way to get a nice logo.

So my mate has this Warmoth Strat neck, and wanted a body with just 1 neck pickup and hardtail bridge. Needs to be light, just wants an oil finish …… and importantly wants to do all the sanding and finishing himself. Those happen to be my least favourite activities…. So said sure…
I ordered some White Limba, I quite like that as a body wood. Very close to alder in tone (also relatively soft) but with nicer grain.
The entire process only took a few hours, so just posting a few pics of “my bit”, and will post once my mate has finished things.

Interesting “whatsit” build, I want to say it is ugly, but in the most beautifully ugly way….. if that even makes sense.

Thanks for the trade and the few hours spent talking about bass! Great way to spend a Sunday!

I doubt there are much better basses than the import Laklands for the price. I am hugely impressed. GLWTS

Agreed the BEs are ridiculously well built. I have a BE4 Exotic and just (finally) got a matching BE5. Probably the best built basses I own, and nowhere near the most expensive. 600 quid is a steal.

Such quality work, lovely thing to see.

Totally forgot to mention, but we did quite the sizeable festival gig in summer with our Faithless Tribute ….. The Faithless.
Bass is my own Infinite Custom MS5 build with Flatwounds and EMG DC pickups. Lots of OC and Future Impact of course….

I have them on 4 of my basses, undoubtedly will be some patches of rust…. But tone is good so not bothered.

Great cabs, I still use 2 L212s often…

Many years ago I had a Stingray 5, that had been stripped and then resprayed with the thinnest of coats. It totally opened up the tone, which is why I never paint my self builds (just oil). This will be so much more open sounding than a normal Ray. GLWTS!
