i have never really had preference when it comes to strings but I have a set on my Kubicki and they are way to bright for my liking, however i have the same set on my warwick streamer and they sound thunderous!
The kubicki is my main bass of course and although the eq is very powerful i just can't seem to find a happy medium with them, so i am thinking of changing the strings not sure what for though.
any ideas?
Forgot to mention strings are Fender rounds -

I've used one with a 4x10 Hartke cab with Aluminium drivers, sounded great and had plenty headroom for a reasonably sized pub. It is primarily made for sounding awesome at lower volumes, but I had no problems even so competing with a full band. As walbassist said though, it's got a nice, clean DI out.

There is a Hartke 4x10 in one of the studios we use which I really like, i am going to take my little bastard along next practice and see whats its like. Im just a bit worried that the needle is going to be constantly bouncing into there red!
Thanks for all your replies guys -
This thread has more bumps in it than primary school custard!

Sorry dude I haven't quite got the funds for it and if I did I would be asking mojobass to sell me my old one back
Try and put those pictures off the statii website on this post, they might help you they show more detail -
I think with any Status the perception is you either love them or hate then, especially when it comes to tone
It took ages to sell my S2 and i have regretted it ever since. But with more economic doom and gloom on the horizon and christmas just a around the corner i think anything is going to be difficult to shift.
You just need to be patient it will sell eventually -
Has anyone giged one of these yet?
I have few gigs coming up and i am worried it isn't going to be able to cope, I didn't buy it with the intentions of gigging it.
At that time I wasn't in a band and it was only for home and studio use. -
Bump for a nice bass, although mine took ages to sell

A tentative feeler to try and solve a major GAS issue i'm having at the moment.
Absolutely immaculate 1990 model with 9v electronics used regularly by me at gigs and rehearsals. Check out my bands website and face book for more pictures as noted in my signature. Just been recently setup by my local luthier, just effortless to play.
I would prefer that it was collected so you were 100% satisfied but will deliver it if need be again at the buyers expense. £950 secures the deal with a brand new hard case.
Be quick! i might change my mind! -

My Kubicki is in for a pro setup and my tech has just phoned me today to say he's having to replace the nut, which is fair enough I though it was in need of replacing anyway to achieve a better action and string spacing.
I asked him what he was going to replace it with and he said a white bone nut. I insisted it needed to be black because i want it to blend in well with the ebony fingerboard and white would just stick out like a sore d**k!
So he said he would source a graphite nut instead, but what is the difference between bone and graphite. Apart from the obvious! -
I knew that wouldn't take long to shift

Two things can cause that, either the action is way too high and the string is being stretched too much prior to making contact with the fret, or the intonation is out.

Cheers dude
dropped it at the techs this morning
its going have service and full setup a little expense i could do without but the tech did pick up on a few things that i didn't recognise, so it should be worth it in the end.
10 days lead time though! -

Sounds good enough to me -
I might be going mad or deaf!
But when my bass is in tune (Standard tuning) the G on the 3rd fret of the E string doesn't sound in tune
anyone else come across this issue? -
Maple glow has been dropped all other remain the same price

Have you considered Status Hotwire flats?... their certainly one of my favourites.
[/quote]
Yep but I fancy a change from hotwires, although they are reasonably priced -
For quiet a while I have been using Roundwounds usually status Hotwires but i Fancy a change
