  12. It is a tough choice. I played 5 strings for years and have only gone back to 4 recently. I do miss the low notes occasionally and do tune down a fair bit. Sayig that I am more at home with a 4 and the weight is better on me old back.

  16. Well despite the rain and floods here in Cornwall last night we all managed to get to the Red Lion in Newquay last night. It was this bands first gig there so everyone was a little unsure of what to expect. There was no need to worry. The local crowd were great and everyone seemed to be really into it. We had a great night. There were a few interesting characters too. Like the old guy who asked our guitarist to play an E chord while we were setting up. He dutifully strummed an open E and the guy smiled and said what a great chord, then shuffled back to the bar! lol Amp/cab wise I used a scaled down setup. I have just sold my BF midget T, so used just my Ashdown LB550 and a BF compact. I really missed the midget in the first set but after a few eq tweaks and a little more master volume for the the second set the compact was awesome. Phew. (reason for selling the midget is I have just pulled the trigger on a super twelve, I wanted a one cab solution, this seems to be a perfect setup) The journey home was interesting. After a few detours because of flooded roads I finally got home.
  17. New tort scratchplate ordered from the USA. The Bass Doc never responded to my pm. I read elsewhere he is very busy so thought it best not to hassle him. I found a new in packaging Fender '62 one for less than £30. I have also ordered some brass off cuts to see if I can reinstate the grounding strip under the bridge.
