GOTTA LUVIT! my favorite color scheme. have you had a look under the plate? sometimes these nats are great looking without the scratchplate as well.

what strings did you go with? I'm dying to try some flats but not at the expense of the mystery rounds kicking donkey on mine.

    ...$60 really? wow!

Not peeked under the plate yet, but will do at some point. If the finish is anything like the first pics in this thread then that would be great. Not sure I could live with the screwholes though.

The strings are Rotosound RB 40-100, which seem to be my favourites at the moment.

As for the price, starting price was £60. Bidding went frantic in the last seconds and I managed to slip in there with £117 which did the trick.

Sounds like you had a better night than me Dave, and I didn't get home until 2:30 and it was only a 15 minute commute.

I'm bummed out over last night. I need a hot gig under my belt to boost my spirits.

Hey I'm crossing all fingers you get one soon. You mentioned a HD gig, surely that'll be a party 😎🎸

    Zodiac BXP incoming 😎🎸

Should be with me this weekend, all being well.

    Whoop whoop

Well she's here. Great condition, very nice neck, strings need replacing and action lowering. Sounds good though, I have to say. Looks gorgeous imo.

Will spend some fettling time tomorrow if I get a chance.

    And yes, pictures too 😎🎸

On the other hand, the compressor was one of my favourite elements of my old SMX head xD  I never used the preshapes much either. I'd love a lightweight SMX-type head with the graphic, compressor and eq balance.

Not a fan of the preshapes or compressor myself, but graphic and eq balance are the things I use the most.

Will do, Jack. :D Actually, the weird pics are due to the mass of the Trace. It has an effect on the local space-time continuum and this can be picked up with a digital camera. If it were only a few grammes heavier it would actually disappear entirely and reappear in a parallel universe. Or something.

The rear port is in fact a black hole.

    Great amps. GLWTS.

For me the TE sound I want is clear, full and punchy. I found the extra facilities on the SMX (tube pre and compression) didn't add anything for me and maybe even took something away. From a simple ergonomics perspective I prefer the longer travel of the Series 6 graphic EQ sliders. I went for the 200 watter because it doesn't have a fan (excellent for studio/low volume practice) and is feather-light compared to the larger UV lit, fan cooled models. Oh, and it's the loudest 200 watt head I've come across to date. With the pre gain set at about half way I barely need the output above 2! I doubt the output control gives a linear increase in volume but I'm not brave/stupid enough to see where its limit is.

    What this man says, basically.

I also have an AH200 head, mounted in a shallow rack. The reasons above exactly match mine for needing this amp in my life. It's also dead easy for servicing when required.

My GP7SM250 also gets a lot of use, but there's something about the Series 6 that just does it for me.

Paired with quality light cabs, you are good to go.

  7. I think anything called SMX indicates the dual band compressor. You can also get these as an effcts pedal, rare though.

SMC models have a single knob compressor, akin to their Ashdown brethren. However my experience is the TE version works better.
