And is the G string tuning post completely missing?
-
Any particular 250w heads in mind at the moment?
-
Oh.
It's green. It's in fab condition.
It's got the words 'Trace Elliot' on it.
It's got the words 'Series 6' on it.
What more could anyone want?

Try the Wilkinson pup, same as the one in your V4. They do ceramic and alnico versions, the V4 one should be the latter.

Interesting. Good to hear the valve drive adds more grit than earlier versions. Have they also modified or improved the compressor? That was always a weak point on my older ABM amps in my experience, could never get them to do anything satisfying (not very qualitive description, I know lol)...

I did order the Fazeley P Bass but it was not of sufficient quality for my liking, so I returned it. Neck had an awful texture, didn't even bother plugging it in. Colour was superb aaghh. However, I ended up buying an Aria STB PB on Amazon as a back up bass. My word, the quality is excellent, nice pups, ballsy tone, nice smooth and even neck. Only downside is it comes in regulation black with white guard, but that's going to change soon 🙂
I tried an STB PB and JB in my local Guitar Guitar shop. The PB was really impressive actually, regulation black with white though lol. The JB wasn't as good in my opinion, overall.

Am I not correct with both my Eden Metro combo and my EBS HD350 that I set the volume on bass to max, on the amp to zero and then feed in the gain until when playing my loudest notes (silently ) the clipping light just flickers. Then I adjust the amp volume up as required.
That's how I've always done it.

Well I'm not shagging that elephant again today - you'll have to have another listen tomorrow when there isn't a plane flying over.
I'm off to put The Toy Dolls on....
Oooooooooooooooh.......

Well according to my db scale, an elephant having an orgasm is 100db and a 737 flying overhead at 100ft is 103db.
Come again ? I missed that...

Any recommendations for sourcing a pickguard for my Zodiac? Its current one is black and cheap looking, a nice tort would do wonders...

Oh mama. The splendiferous ABM front end feeding an even more splendiferous all valve back end.
And at that price?

Well there ya go. A great find though, that bass. 1997 was certainly a good vintage 😎🎸

Going by my recent experience with a Jess Loureiro split-coil 51 Telebass pickup (which sounds absolutely excellent - warm, punchy and articulate), I can only imagine that his P/J sets would be equally stellar. He does a 'classic' set and a 'coil split' set, thus:

All hand wound with traditional materials - and his prices are very competitive, too.
Oh they look good, and very competitive prices. I'm currently looking at PJ options for a recently acquired Peavey...

Re the headstock, it looks like an early V4 to me. And yes, it could well be an older discontinued model that has passed me by.

Thanks for the pictures. Quite likely a retrofit job, but looks like it's done well. Seems they have put the 3 way switch where the volume was, and made a new hole further forward for the volume. VT and 3 way switch is a fave setup of mine, hence my love of Yammy BB's.
Looks good to me.

A Vintage V4 with PJ is certainly unique. Would be interested to see pictures of this if possible. I rate the V4 highly.

Great find there! Looks lovely.

Taking the model number from one of the eBay pics, and trusting Google, I ended up here...

If that helps anyone. Could be wrong though, of course.

I'm tempted, to find out what the deal is. However collection only is not worth my while to be honest.

I heard this on Radio 1 earlier and love it. Me and the wife's heads were bobbing away in the car. I thought we were listening to another station too be honest.
They've been popping up on Radio 2 as well, recently. They've clearly passed me by before, but really like this stuff.

That’s James Gadson. He was the guy back then, he certainly did a lot of sessions in the 70’s and 80’s.
I think he was still gigging locally in the LA area up until a couple of years ago.
A nice little read about his career here.
Great link and an interesting read, thanks for that.

Vintage V4 gets my vote. Plus they have some new colours now. How exciting.

Out of the two items, I'd say the case is probably worth the most.
