Postage charges on Ebay
queenofthedepths replied to markytbass's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Final value fees are not charged on postage/carriage. Lower the price. Raise the postage. Go figure.
I've seen Chinese basses ("this instrument will bring lifetime of good luck to your house" ) where they're asking £1 + £199 postage... ebay could simply put a stop to this by charging fees on postage as well - I'm sure the only reason they don't is because it'd discourage worldwide sellers, but they must be losing loads of money at the moment... -
Behold my beautiful bass porn :D
Or... keep the bunk beds and stow the 5-string and fretless on top bunk for easy access.
Yeah, I've got a triple bed at home but since I've got 8 of my guitars (7 basses and a classical, that is...) here, I don't have any stands at home so everything at home has to live on the top bunk It's far from easy access though -
Isn't it better to give people false expectations and then prove them completely wrong in a good way? I mean, they're not gonna leave the gig just coz they don't like the look of your bass! I did my last couple of gigs with my 6-string and maybe people thought I was trying to be John Myung and then they saw me play and perhaps I changed their minds

Tips for writing bass lines?
queenofthedepths replied to Baseballfan1456's topic in General Discussion
Even when you're just playing root notes or something similar, you can get your guitarist to stop for a bar and just play the same riff on your own - bass runs are immensely cool without having to be complicated/difficult -
Beat me to it! And with a much better reply.
Ahaha thank you - do off topic posts really not count? How strange...
As a newbie would someone indulge my probably idiotic questions. What is the significance of a `bump` message? How do I put basic gear list in the message box like others? What does PM stand for?(not gordon brown!) When does `newbie` become `regular`contributor? Help an older bassplayer become less confused! regards jhk
1. If you go on View New Posts, the most recent posts are shown at the top - after not being posted on for a while, a topic will move down the list and eventually no-one will notice it, so the purpose of bumping is just to move a topic back to the top 2. If you go on "My Controls" and then "Edit Signature" you can type it all in there 3. Private message! 4. Just keep posting! Have some fun!

Practise in the dark so you can learn the feel of your fretboard without having to look at it
Thnaks for the replies...may I ask where you got a suitable sized box?
Buying basses on ebay usually Sorry if that's unhelpful I have no idea really...
Hello there. I'm selling my bass on ebay and want to know the best way to ship it. It has a hardshell case, but should i put that in a big cardboard box also?? Or is the case ok on it's own? Thanks!
Definitely wrap it up and put it in a cardboard box - otherwise you risk damage to the case!
Guitar shop as in "everything there has at least 6 strings"?
Hahahaha! Fortunately not - I do have three 5-strings in here (and 2 more at home) and one 4-string (come Christmas there'll be a bass lamp to add to that!) - only one 6-string, 7-string, 8-string and a classical guitar

Hellooo
This forum is nuts man - there are more people in Bristol on here than anywhere else, even London!
You're not wrong

Jeremy by Pearl Jam- help needed
queenofthedepths replied to Old Horse Murphy's topic in Theory and Technique
+1 Stick to 4-string and it should go down fine - you might wanna consider playing it with a pick if you don't do that anyway - I play it on my 8-string with a 20p and it sounds much better than fingers -
Just bought an Ibanez 5-string fretless off this guy - it's an absolute delight to play Awesome guy - brought the bass out to my house and chucked in a set of strings! Very happy to deal with!
-
Lovely guy - would certainly buy again, given the opportunity!
Dont buy this one!! Its the guitar version and also only the gx15 now I think thats the lighter model but Im also sure the price isnt that different from the GX40 so it depends what level of protection you want. But you want the (if you want the strong one) GX40B Strangely the B stands for bass...
Oops! AIDSelicious - I assumed they'd have bass ones there too but apparently not -
Play the easiest 3 you've run through, refuse to play the other 3 and insist on playing Rawhide, Stand By Your Man and I Walk the Line. If he argues, remind him the rugby is on and that's a game played by gentlemen, and a gentleman wouldn't have treated you the way that he's treated you. Hamster
+1 You've got nothing to gain by not doing it and you'll probably regret it - I always say establish the blame as early as possible, so let your mate know he's let you down and then if you play well you'll look amazing and if you play badly you can say it's his fault
-
I'd just go ahead and do it... if you don't play too well, it's gonna reflect badly on his band
