  1. Reviving this old post as part-penance, part-information sharing To paraphrase the saying: Good things come to those who... give up trying to fix something and leave it in a corner until they speak to a guy at the gym. Having not got anywhere with the red tape involved in posting an item for repair to the Netherlands, and briefly sticking my head above the parapet a couple years later with another request to Darkglass support to which they couldn't help as the model wasn't produced anymore so no stock to repair was available, it turned out in the end that the answer was staring me in the face for years... another persons face in fact! As it happens a fellow gym-goer's father is a retired electronics engineer who mastered in sound engineering (or something like that) and likes to tinker with old amps, speakers etc in his now perpetual free-time. After four painful years of having to stare at a very expensive doorstop this chap spent 10 minutes looking over the board, 2 minutes googling, and told me to buy this > ICEPower-700 Exactly the same board as is in the V1 MT900, just available from somewhere else. Popped the blown one out, fitted the new one in, and gave it a go. So happy to say it hasn't skipped a beat since it got fixed. Performs just the way it always did - although it now plays second fiddle to the V2 MT900 which is in the main rig I always make a point of running the V1 for a good portion of a rehearsal just to make sure it can keep up and that there's no other issues waiting in the wings from it's previous idiot-borne demise. Double bonus is that the new board comes with a 2 year guarantee! Hopefully, if someone else is unfortunate enough to have suffered a similar issue they might happen across this thread and find the information useful.
  2. Oh dear... My apologies to all who have provided excellent advice here. I should have absolutely, most definitely, acknowledged your kind responses in a timely fashion; but as such I have not. I shan't provide explanation as to the why, but I will stand here and take my licks for the poor showing of forum decorum. *screws tippy-toe into floor and looks coy* Sowee... To update all on my endeavours. I took all your advice - plugged things into the correct places, turned things on in the correct order, turned volumes up, then down, then down a bit more... then the vocalist shouted at me and I turned things up a little. All in all everything works great! Had a quick bit of a flashing DDT clipping light issue on the PA which was easily resolved with some trial and error on which input was to blame. Of course it was the lead guitarist! But we've settled into our new space really well (bar the single-glazed wooden framed windows that I swear will fall out eventually) and everything is working as expected. The drummer is most pleased after years of only being able to practice for 3 hours once a week, half the time of which was setting up and breaking down the kit, to now having a permanently set up kit and the option to pop in whenever he wants a practice/jam 24 hours a day! So thanks again for the tips and stuff. I did inwardly digest all of them and all advice provided is appreciated greatly. I will now await a good berating on BC etiquette. As penance I will also pop along to a very old thread discussing my bricked Microtubes 900 with a recent update to the positive!
  3. Hello all, A promising opportunity has arisen for my band to make use of a space for rehearsal for an egregiously small monthly fee dwarfing quite considerably our outlay for our current room, which means we would give up our 12 years long slot in a wonderful, acoustically treated, 500sq/ft studio fitted out with a high-end PA and desk. We will have to setup our own PA in the new space of course as it is not a space intended or made for musical endeavours. Due to our local music venue closing it's doors recently we have been able to obtain a Peavey Power Amplifier and 15" speakers, desk, stands, cables etc... etc... These bits of kit were never used together and the venue owner wasn't able to give any insight on if these were a suitable match. Now none of us in the band understand the magic smoke that is power ratings for these kind of things, and I'm really friggin' dumb; so can anyone advise if the following equipment is fit for purpose. Please can any advice be explained as if you were providing a teachable moment to a 5 year old, which coincidentally is my approximate reading age. Peavey PV-1200 Power Amplifier (link to manual > PV-1200) Peavey PRO-15 (MK1?) 4ohm 600w speakers (Cannot for love nor money find the manual for this model, only the 300w 8ohm MK2 version) Behringer X2442USB Mixer I'd really like to know if putting two guitar modelling boards, 3 vocal mics, and an ambient backing track module through this setup to play modern metal stylings, at not entirely cranked volumes, is going to cause damage to, or small fires within the equipment. In case you wonder, my bass will be running through a wonderful Ashdown ABM 8x10 EVO separate to the desk because the flap is strong with an X7 and 900w DG Microtubes. Thanks in advance for any advice proffered.

  6. Maybe I'm just more of an idiot that I previously thought, but I cannot for the life of me work out how to get OPR form without needing an EORI number which I can't get because I'm not a business...
  7. What? … Jesus-frigging-Christ, what the hell is all this nonsense?!? I thought I was confused before, but our own government’s website shows there’s always another rabbit hole to fall down. the way I see it is: 1. Get on a plane with it to the Netherlands and sleep on the doorstep until the amp has been fixed 2. Find someone in the UK to repair it 3. Accept I have a very expensive doorstop
  8. Hi all, After having the support band blow up my Darkglass M900 V1, which is out of warranty, I need to post it to a place in the Netherlands for repair which was recommended by the guys at Darkglass. I cannot for the life of me work out what form, code, docket etc to use to not get shafted with import/export VAT etc. The repairing company have already told me that if the paperwork is not in order it will get returned without any further assistance. Has anyone else had to suffer this, and could you point me in the right direction/ hold my hand, please? Ta
  9. Hi guys, Anyone technically proficient able to posit what will be damaged in this scenario: Support band bassist plugs his amp into my cab via speakon cable whilst mine is still connected via jack input. Horrendous mistake. Immediate regret. Both amps dead. Plug fuse and internal fuse checked and still intact No lights or life in my Microtubes other than a “turning on” electrical sound when flicking the power on, and a faint electric ticking sound. Support ticket raised with the excellent Darkglass team, but just impatient and wondering how badly the MT has been bricked?
  10. Messaged regarding the Hyper Luminal. Ta.
  11. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U2qoCR1e3FM If you've got a minute or nine please give our new track from our 2nd album a listen - Dice Of Fate Fans of nightwish, Kamelot and Avenged Sevenfold should like this. Apologies for the state of the lyric video. The singer makes the videos and has a habit of over-producing stuff. I keep telling him. "Simpler is better" The Album should be finished and released around December/January.
