I guess all these folk pining for their old school 15" cabs have someone carting them around on their behalf, yes?

Pronounced wen-gay apparently. Does that help? 😆
I know how it's pronounced, that doesn't stop the rude, adolescent part of my brain running riot...

My eyes see "wenge" and my brain sees "wedgie". I'm such a child.

I have a few you can use if by some quirk of space-time physics you can't put 479 guitars in a Mitsubishi colt.
Thanks man, but I found a source of the Rotosound stands I like for a fiver cheaper than most places, and they have ALL the colours, so the order has been placed.

Yay, a week to go! Today is planning day - do I have enough stands?
EDIT - EEK, I do not! Glad I checked!

In either case, freedom for me comes from a wireless link from my bass rather than a cable.
I know, right? I only went wireless last year - dunno why I didn't do it years ago, it's so much fun! People listen with their eyes, so you bet I go on walkabouts during easy bits in songs

Why do you think I have a Sire D5? That itch has to be scratched sometimes...

I get some people will never part with their amps. I guess they like hauling cabs. I guess they like having ringing ears. But for me amps are so 1985.
I'm happy that you're happy, but you couldn't help having a wee dig at folk at the end, could you? If you're looking to make friends, or convince people of the value of your revelation to them, this isn't the way.

A busy weekend for Nine Lives, two shiny new (to us) venues to play!
Saturday it's the North Bar in Peterhead, Sunday it's the Pittendrum Bar in Sandhaven.

Yeah... We played with them at the Dopethrone gig and they're really good and a nice bunch of guys. Their logo is like a magic eye though. You've got to know what you're looking for!
Ach, I was just being a devil. Have a great gig!

...and as variables go the overall sound of a band will be far more dependent on the muppet (or not) running the PA rather than the bass players choice of 10s or 15s!
Someone above mentioned only ever using 12s as the sweet spot. I can see merit to that argument (merely becasue 12 falls between 10 and 15) but I think to say you ONLY use one size of speaker is a bit limiting. At the end of the day half the fun of playing electric instruments is trying different things be they pickups, pedals, amps or cabs. It's just interesting that certainly on this forum the choice of speaker size raises so many passions (there's possibly a rude joke in here somewhere... 🙂 )!
Well, in an ideal world, free from constraints (for example monetary or physical space) then I'd be trying whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted. Life's not like that. Limits exist. As I said before, the reason I won't touch 15" cabs with a bargepole is mostly because they won't fit in my car. It has nothing to do with them being 15s, they just don't fit into my life and the way I want to live it.
Also, frankly I'm just not that excited about amps and cabs. To me, they're a necessary component in order to make noise and that's about it. Apart from the 30W practice amp I started with, I've only owned 4 amps and 4 cabs in about 20 years, and almost always one at a time.
Amps. Cabs. Eh, I'd rather buy another bass.

I'm still using my iGig case. I must have had it for getting on for 15 years and it still looks relatively new. Such a shame you can't get them anymore. It is a bulky case however - I'm considering getting something slimmer when I fon't need all that extra storage space the iGig offer.
A Mono would be great, but they're a lot of money. But fender's FB620 look's like very good value
https://www.andertons.co.uk/fender-fb620-electric-bass-guitar-gig-bag/
I've owned one of these and I can't abide them, because the front pocket can't take A4 paper without folding it. Got rid when I sold a bass.

I love jazz basses but I've never been thrilled by the bridge pickup.............. I want to change.
Jazz bomb pickups, right?

If you want to source one, you might want to give Merchant City Music in Glasgow a shout - they seem to be far and away the UK's most prolific Reverend dealer.

What is the be all and all..............in your opinion.......?
I despise Jazz basses, and I'm not a huge fan of bridge pickups of any kind, yet the bridge pickup sound of my Reverend Triad is one of the finest sounding bridge pickups I've ever heard. As soon as I tried it in the shop, I was very impressed.

There's nothing unique about either of my bands. Making music these days is like pissing in the sea.

15" cabs don't fit in my car. 12" cabs do. So purely from a practicality point of view, I'll stick with the 12s, thanks.

Honestly, I'm more of a dark fingerboard guy. As such, if anyone's up for a neck swap, let me know!

The same happened to me when Thomann were doing the Squier 40th Anniversary models at daft prices and also when some company were selling the Yamaha Sessioncake for just over a tenner. Basschat filled their boots on both counts.
It was Kenny's and yes, I have one of those too for exactly the same reason

9.5K - is that all?
"The (Reverend) Jazz Bomb bridge pickup features warm mids and a focused attack, enhanced output, and still percussive when you dig in. Hum-free. 43 gauge wire, ceramic magnet, 14K ohms."
Not that DC resistance is the be-all and end-all of pickup power...

Bit f*** me that's a bloody nice bass @neepheid 👍
It's a fair cop, guv'nor! But I was doing so well, having managed to visit Merchant City Music and successfully not buy anything...
