  2. Last year's thread - https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/486962-nw-bass-bash-2024-sat-may-18th/
  3. Scarcity plays a part. I could probably sell my G&L Tribute LB-100 (or my wunkay) for more than I bought them new, that's the way it is right now because G&L seem to have gone utterly AWOL in the last couple of years as far as the UK market is concerned.
  4. If you say so. To be honest, I only see nods to each other, rather than slavish copying. Just looking at the regular headed M2/5/7 versus the MTD, the bridge end of the body is different (the taper to a point - an exaggerated version of a Ken Smith, perhaps?), the top horn is a bit sharper, the bottom cutaway looks a bit different (slightly less deep), the bottom horn looks a bit different too and the headstock is different (in the case of the 5 string, the 2/3 arrangement is also reversed). Looks more like influence than out and out copying to me.
  5. It's fan fret time... as someone alluded to in a thread about fan fretted basses, Sire have unveiled their new M6 range: Looks like fretless is probably on the table also, dunno about lefties yet. Skeleton official pages (subject to change and probably removal when things go proper official) 4 - https://sire-usa.com/products/refn1ay3zbjam3bq-36831494282 5 - https://sire-usa.com/products/refn1ay3zbjam3bq 6 - https://sire-usa.com/products/refn1ay3zbjam3bqs So have at it - the headstock's gone, they're using their own body shape (adapted from the M2/5/7), so you're going to have to find new things to complain about
  6. It would appear that part of Great Britain has broken off from the rest and is floating away...
  7. PM me your deets if you want it. You can even have the rusty bit of the thread, for free! (man, the zooming in makes it look so much worse than it is)
  8. So that's what that round, sticky-out thing is for!
  9. Really? I was using an SB-2 on neck pickup only and a sound engineer asked me if it was active because it was so hot. Each to their own, I guess!
  10. SB1 won't give you a trad P bass sound with that split MFD. LB-100 would be closer to trad P territory.
  11. Any shape you like with a P shaped pickup in it. Not P sounding enough for you? Change the P pickup.
  12. I'm surprised you even know what a string tree is...
  13. I've got one lying around, I'm sure. Standard round Fender style like, nothing fancy.
  14. Hmm, I'd be inclined to let you off with a warning in that case. You made a good effort to get everything else bought before the cutoff if the string tree is the only thing missing. And if I had a quid for every time I've come back from the shops and said "aw bollox, I forgot <item>!". Any objections, court of dubious opinion?
  15. Hee hee, some fun from Saturday night: 20250118 Nine Lives Wilsons Holiday.mp4
  16. I'm in two minds about this. On the one hand, I have sympathy and can understand the frustration of being thwarted by the omission of such a tiny, yet crucial part. On the other hand, I am also in the waiting room for a bitsa (I'm actually waiting for the cheapo donor bass to arrive - been on backorder since September last year!) and I took the time to make sure I had all the parts I needed ordered before the end of the year, so why did I bother? Is this your first bitsa? No spares box? Nothing you can pinch from some other poor unfortunate project?
  17. Err, it's someone's actual name.
  18. I had my amp crap out on me once at a gig, thankfully it was right at the end of the last song. Sorry folks, no encore! I do bring a small spare amp with me now so I can limp on with a single cab if the need ever arises again. I also once had my wireless bugs run out of juice because I forgot to charge them but that was self inflicted rather than an equipment failure per se. Quick switch to a cable and back up and running, but no wandering off for me
  19. I'd go so far as to say a blanket statement about any manufacturer or line of basses isn't worth listening to. Usually it's just a bunch of hearsay campfire scare stories about "QC" - do one!
  20. "Almost"? It's 100% sad.
  21. Heh, had a bunch of D'addario strings to register and turns out I had nearly 5000 points. Wanted a couple of straps (I like each bass to have a strap, I CBA swapping straps around). So I used my points to get em for "free". All within the rules and above board (being both an allowed accessory and use of music vendor loyalty points), but a nice little frisson of officially sanctioned "stuff coming through the letterbox" activity nonetheless.
  22. Ordered and paid for last year - no problem Strings - no problem
  23. I still think you should buy a new bass which is fretless from the get-go. That way it's a lot easier to get rid of if your fretless adventure doesn't work out, and you won't have compromised an instrument you like.
  24. I'd give Thomann a polite prod, they're usually pretty quick to respond. I'm guessing DHL haven't bothered their backsides to pick it up yet. Weekend doesn't help.
