  1. It's always been the case - early adopters of anything "new" get shafted, that's the price of having the shiniest, newest stuff.
  2. Heh, and I bet they've never seen a mock chop...
  3. I know it's 47 days to go, but tonight I dragged out my holdall of ironmongery (stands) which hasn't been touched since I moved house 5 ish years ago. Pleased to report that I have enough stands for the number of basses I'm taking. Happy days Spooky coincidental fact - there's a 'Spoons song called "47 Days", but it's not about anticipating a bass bash.
  4. Oh, f those people.
  5. It looks very pretty and all, but it's a bit form over function for me - I'm certainly not put off by a jack socket protruding somewhat from the face - the knobs and switches stick out way more after all. Hope you get it sorted.
  6. WD-40 is good at getting rid of sticker residue, so maybe it's also good at getting sticky rubber off of things too?
  7. Not this again. No, you don't. You'll think you do, buy it, have it for a while, think "why did I buy this again?" then flog it off for £90 to someone else, and the cycle continues...
  8. Some sh!tstirring going on in here today. This thread was never going to end well.
  9. Sounds like the times we've played beer festivals - far and away the main focus of the attendees is beer, we're background music to most. Some people stuck around and listened, but most were just going about their beery business. That's OK, we knew it would be that way.
  10. Too clever for me - it was a WTF from this correspondent here also. I just couldn't be arsed getting into another internet bun fight*. *All arguments on the internet are bun fights, regardless of the seriousness of the topic - before anyone accuses me of diminishing a very serious subject.
  11. Careful who you attribute quotes to - @tauzero was quoting @MacDaddy...
  12. The head is removable in my combo amp, so it can be hooked up to any cabs if necessary (or just listen to the angry little box by itself)
  13. Quarter Pounders vs. Regular/Hot, should be an interesting comparison
  14. £100 will buy you quite a few top end of consumer pickups if you shop around: DiMarzio Model P EMG GZR Geezer P etc Cheaper stuff - Warman maybe? Never tried them personally, but heard good things
  15. Why do we do this to ourselves? Why do we let them do it to us? How far is "too far"? They (instrument manufacturers in general, not just Fender) seem to have a knack of extracting just the right amount of michael such that significant numbers of people don't vote with their wallets.
  16. Yes, it's still gear. Only exceptions would be unprompted gifts or replacing broken items.
  17. Sure, but it would limit what I could take down with me. If I'm going to this much trouble, I'd want to take the whole shebang down with me (6 basses, amp, ironmongery/leads).
  18. I'm already making the circa 1100 mile round trip to attend the SW Bash - sorry, they got in there first! Whether or not I can face doing another circa 1100 mile round trip the following month remains to be seen. Ask me after, if I and the car survive the first one!
  19. Paid up member here...
  20. Heaven forbid!
  21. Jealously reading everyone's gig reports - holidays etc. means no gigs until 1st Sept, last one was July 22nd. I'd better get a bass out and play it, lest I forget which way round to hold it or something...
  22. Poor, misunderstood Les Paul bass It was roundly scoffed at the first time I took it to the Moffat bash. That soon stopped when people played it.
  23. That sounds better than my usual way around the usual hotel breakfast rip-off - coffee for breakfast... Can you take payment in advance in some way? If you prefer cash on the day, no worries, I'm sure I can find some between now and then.
  24. Well, that's my hotel/bass storage room booked for the night before. Things just got real! Any word on entrance fee yet?
  25. Economies of scale, innit? These pickups won't be made on some assembly line, probably hand made by one person, one at a time, and time is money...
