Definitely the worst was playing the Marina Theatre in Lowestoft when I was about 17. My band had won a local talent show (£500, woo) and then got asked to play this showcase gig at the theatre with a bunch of other winners in different categories. What we didn't know was we would be playing alongside the Miss Lowestoft Carnival Queen Competition! Not the most ideal pairing...heavy rock and a beauty contest! The day went from bad to worse when our drummer announced he couldn't make it, so tried to contact a stand in but he didn't make it in time for the gig. We then had to wait backstage while the contest was going on for about four hours. The event was supposed to have been built up to be this big spectacular that we would close with the curtain dropping to reveal us 'rocking out' with a full electric set but in reality what happened was the curtain opened to reveal my guitarist sitting on this massive stage, on the empty drum riser DI'd into the PA with a crap acoustic vainly attempting to turn it into an acoustic set with the singer. I didn't even get to play in the end, just sat there! The place was deadly silent throughout and we received only polite applause at the end. At this point we got out of there as quickly as possible. It was like a comedy sketch or something...looking back it's hilarious

21 / Male / Four Stringer I like to do the whole rock foundation while throwing in some tasty fills thing. I play fingerstyle and like a retro tone. I also have a thing where I'll use my plucking fingers as a plectrum and bash out powerchords/octaves. I also can't stand slap bass, especially when it's used by people to show off. Main influences are probably Jack Bruce and Geezer Butler.

Currently looking at this beast for sale locally at a very cheap price. (Pic attached) Google isn't coming up with much useful information about it...I've gathered from the seller it's a 4 ohm cab but I can't find anything about the power handling of it. Does anyone here have any experience with this cab? Any info would be much appreciated!

Not in a band currently but this was my last one- www.myspace.com/sweetarlita We broke up last April I think. I miss gigging loads though so on the lookout for a new band!

It's always fun to see people's faces when I roll up to the gig with it! You're right about the lack of places to open her up...I think the only time I had it on anywhere near to full was when we played the Waterfront once. Thinking of going the Orange Bass Terror route and a 4x10/1x15 rig I can split for rehearsals/smaller gigs, and take the full thing to any bigger gigs that might come along. The Ampeg fridge is awesome but a pain in the arse to shift about.

Hey guys. Been lurking on the forum for the last couple of weeks but now it's time to get involved in discussions a bit more I feel! I'm 21 and have been playing for around 10 years now. Played in various bands in the area but currently without due to working stupid antisocial hours (friday and saturday nights...best I could get at the moment) Main gear is a 2006 Rickenbacker 4003 in Jetglo > MXR Bass D.I.+ > Ampeg SVT450H > Ampeg SVT610HLF. Currently trying to sell the 610 in favour of something smaller and lighter...can't justify having the giant fridge at the moment. Nobody's biting yet though...might have to keep it after all Looking forward to getting involved -Matt
