  1. Also just got notifications starting to pop up again!
  2. Fantastic bass and love the colour also! I nearly bought one of these ages ago but ended up with one of the Modern Player Telecaster Basses instead just because it was more 'different' then what my friends had at the time. However, did try one out and it was a pleasure to play and sounded very nice. Enjoy!
  3. Good question! Well until recently all the basses that I had ever owned cost less than £600 however my most recent bass cost around £1500 which was an Ibanez EHB1505ms. I do notice a difference between it and the more reasonably priced ones, however I would certainly be happy with just the other ones if I'm honest. I certainly don't think that you have to have only really expensive gear, particularly given the great quality available at around the £400 mark these days.
  4. Love this topic! My first bass was a Vintage (can't remember what model) it cost about £120 back in 2007. My bass tutor at college set it up perfectly, it was such a joy to play I do miss it sometimes. Alas when my little cousin started learning himself I gave it him as a present. The bass I replaced it with was a Cort GB35a which was a terrific bass... until it got stolen... still annoyed about that one!
  5. Cheers for the info, good to know!
  6. Just put my old Trace Elliot rig up for sale, which I do love the sound of but need something smaller and lighter these days, is there any word on how much these actually weigh in at?
  7. Update - part exchanged towards a replacement so no longer available. Due to me not gigging so much anymore I have decided to downsize my rig which means selling my beloved Trace Elliot, which has served me well through many gigs. Due to the weight this is pretty much going to be a collection only job - I live in the Dudley borough of the West Midlands. The cab is in good condition (to say how much it was used back in the day) I’ve got some photos below for you to look at and if you have any questions just drop me a message. Also included are the cover and original manual. The cab: Trace Elliot 1048H (4x10”) Now for the cab it is a classic 4x10 that packs a punch, it handles the full frequency range well and thanks to the 10” speakers it has the nice bite on the high end. Here are the specs: 800 Watts RMS, 8 Ohms. Four 10" (254mm) special design Celestion speakers. High frequency horn with variable attenuation. Two Neutrik® Speakon® and two 1/4" (6.35mm) jack connectors. Cabinet tuned, with central unobstructed slots, to 40Hz. Lightweight poplar plywood construction. Original classy black 'pimple' covered. Metal handles and protective corners. Dimensions (HxWxD): 26.9'' (682mm) x 24.2'' (615mm) x 17.1'' (435mm) Weight: 76.3lbs (34.7kg)
  8. Sorry for being a bit late to the party on this one (only just rejoined the site). My main bass at the moment is the EHB1505ms and I love it, the shorter scale length at 35" to 33" is really helpful if you haven't got massive hands. I adjusted to the fanned frets almost instantly, it's comfortable to play, and those Nordstrand pickups with the EQ sound amazing. Whilst I still love my old SR600 since getting this I don't really play it that much. Has anyone AB'd it against the 1005ms to hear the difference in pickups electronics? Whilst I'm really happy with it but I would be interested to hear the difference just to see what it is.
  9. As I will be looking to replace my rig in the near future I was interested in this, as I liked the look of their Microtubes amp (I've got friends who highly recommend them) and this seemed pitched as something more versatile. I do like the idea, but I worry that it's just a lot to go wrong - particularly with a first iteration. I'm also not sold on it being reliant on a phone app...
  10. Hi All, I actually joined this site many years ago when I was still at university, alas it is since long remained dormant. However as I am in the market to replace my amp (need to downsize) I thought this would be the perfect place for some advice and to hear about the latest gear and possibly sell my current rig. Anyway, I'm Nathan and I've been playing bass since about 2008. I studied my degree and masters degree in music, played in a few bands one of which did ok for a few years and I got to play in front of a few thousand people. I'm a slight oddity in that I trained as a classical composer but only ever performed as a rock/pop/jazz bassist. I occasionally make videos on YouTube now as a hobby and I keep a blog about the music I'm listening to. I hope to get back into playing more over the coming months. My current bass lineup consists of: Ibanez EHB1505ms Ibanez SR600 Fender Modern Player Telecaster Bass
  11. I must say after playing it the other day i am very tempted by it, had a great sound to it and felt fantastic to play But due to funds being low i would have to wait for the next part of my student loan
