1. Bass, bubblewrap and cardboard usually comes in at just under 7Kg when I send.
2. Non competition feedback: I use Elixir strings all the time. I mostly play Warwick basses and like the slighty "dirty" tone of the combination. Warwick are known for their "growl". Elixir gives a Warwick a perfect tone with the growl but meat behind it avoiding the zing that some strings give. Elixir feel great under the fingers. After playing strings for a couple of months I've had other folk say my strings sound old. I think they sound the same as they were when I fitted them. To me they're still giving me the sound I want. Not everyone wants a zing of the "steel just out of the packet" and Elixir delivers on this. Right now I'm looking forward to replacing the flats on my fretless and hearing the tone of Elixir on ebony.
3. Reply from Warwick: Thank you very much for your inquiry and it’s nice to hear from a member of our Warwick family! I have to inform you that unfortunately to supply our customers with a new neck – we need also an old one. To keep the originality of our instruments we can only make an exact replacement of those parts and it takes a place in our headquarters in Germany or in some cases it can be done by experienced luthier from one of our contracted dealers. If any further questions – please do not hesitate to ask, I’m here to serve with a helping hand Warwick GmbH & Co Music Equipment KG So, I guess they copy the serial number from the old neck to the new one.
4.
Does anyone know if Warwick sell replacement necks? This could make a great bitsa at an affordable price (if Warwick's necks are affordable).
Enquiry made with Warwick. Somehow I've got my doubts about this being affordable against buying a used Corvette.
5. Fact 2 is also true of Overwaters, so I heard. I have heard that someone working there did it on one occasion.
6. I don't generally go as far up as Daventry. But I'm happy to meet up.
7. If the guitar related stuff was simply moved out from the "Other Musically Related Items" section that would be a major improvement IMHO.
8.
Perhaps you should have tried a Warwick then.
You're right. It would at least I would have found out if their Streamer sounded anything like my own Streamer.
9.
Try and dig out the link to the Bass Bash last week Rich - unless you think my playing of your bass will put people off that is Seriously though, this is a very nice bass to play, and has a very nice sound to it.
Thanks Lozz, but that will never do. Someone might actually buy it!!
10.
Dam Rich, Selling your P bass and quarter pounder pickups. That's the perfect combo.
Maybe. But the pup in the Precision is really good. It's got a great growl to it. I'm only selling as I'm making a choice between this and a Westone Thunder. I've decided I possibly prefer the Westone. The problem I have is too many basses, then I don't really develop an intimate connection with any single bass. I read threads where folk talk about that "one special bass". I don't have a "single bass"connection, but if I I'm to develop one then I need to cut down. Maybe I'm stoopid. Maybe I'm chasing rainbows. I've got some great basses. But the world is full of great basses and I can't own them all.
11. Hi there, Here is a rather nice Precision. It's in great condition and has the metal tag on the headstock for the 60th Anniversary. In the pics this has flats. I'm changing these for rounds for the sale - still good strings. There's no buckle-rash, just 3-4 small scratches near the jack-socket - see pics. This bass was one of those in Lozz's neck comparison test at the Herts Bass Bash. I'm happy to ship this and can add in a gig-bag in the deal. I'l be sorry to see this go really. I'm based in Bishops Stortford, Herts, but travel a fair bit, so may be able to deliver. I'm happy to send this anywhere by courier at the cost of the courier. Price now dropped to £315 For More pics click here http://s1175.photobu...Fender-P?sort=3 Or there are some thumbnails below. Thanks for looking Rich
12. I was in there yesterday. It was my first visit. I played 3 or 4 Fender basses. All I can say is to me they all sounded rather "samey" and that was similar to the sound in the video; rather "metallic" to my hearing. I was looking for a more Warwick-like growl. I know this is probably down to the string selection. The young guy there told me they change the strings on all the basses they take in. I guess if they use the same strings and those have a strong metallic rasp to the sound they will sound all the same to some extent. This is one I rather do like the sound of though: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s8wErLFNuNk
13. Hi there, You're looking at my black Fender Jazz Deluxe MIM. It's in great condition, with one small ding near the jack socket - see pics. The controls are Vol, Blend, Bass/Treble, Mids. It's got a new battery and good strings. The tone is deep and meaningful and it's comfortable to play. The weight is 4.3Kg, or 9.5lb I'm in East Herts, but I can send by courier for the cost of shipping. Now I've added a Hard case too... not great, but it's robust with metal corners. For more pics: http://s1175.photobu...JD-black?sort=3 The ding in the bottom left corner looks a lot worse in the pic than real life. Thanks for looking
