  1. Thanks for that, I've sent them a message.

  3. Thanks for the input, will keep checking eBay and put a wanted ad up.
  4. Tried eBay, only ones are in the states. Cheap prices but once you add shipping and import duty and vat it adds up. If you had a problem with the neck there'd be no point sending it back!
  5. Thanks Grangur, they look nice but still outside my budget! Hoping for something cheap and not too nasty.
  6. Anyone know if there's anywhere I can mighty mite necks in the EU? I'm looking for an unlined fretless neck and the allparts is outside my budget, the mighty mite looks good but I can't find anywhere to buy it except in the states. Cheers.
  7. Hi, Just wondering what people do when they're in a position where they have no-one to jam with? How do you keep up your interest and progression? I'm living out in the west of Ireland, for the summer there's music to be played in the pubs, people around for a jam, but in winter there's no-one, and I really mean no-one about. Last winter I tried advertising, trying to get a band started with out any joy, so this year I'm facing up to the reality that it's going to be months before I'm working with anyone again. When there's gigs going there's new songs to learn and I always feel I'm learning the most as a bassist when I'm playing with people not recordings. How does anyone else keep themselves inspired when they're between bands? Thanks all.
  8. Useful comparison might be what else can you buy new for the same price. If I was looking for a new bass at the price of a mex Fender I'd think I'd try a Sandberg Electra, just on looks alone.
  9. I think maybe it helps to have a frame of reference for awful and for superb. I have a MIM jazz, it's not as bad as some basses I've played by a mile, but I've played far better basses (that were out of my price range). If basses were cars, it's not as bad as a fifteen year old Micra, nor is it a top of the line Merc, it's more of a five year old Mondeo. Just like a Mondeo, it'll do what you need it to, but it's not going to set your world on fire.
  10. Thought they looked more jazz width than precision. My ideal combination, p body and jazz neck, and great looks as well. Hope you enjoy it. Thanks Adee.
  11. Nice bass. How wide is the neck at the nut? Haven't been able to find out on their site, (might have missed it). Cheers.
  12. Thanks for all the input. I'd have to say that I really don't think it's the pick-ups, i've messed with them on the jazz, and one of the p's is a p/j. It's the sound of the basses themselves, the jazz has a light bright sound, both acoustically and plugged in, which was why I tried flats, but it still lacks the bassiness of the other two. Can't help thinking that either plywood has great bass resonance or maybe it's something in the chunkier precision neck? It's just that the jazz is lovely to play, but the sound from the p's is making me play them more. Thanks again.
  13. Just wondering if anyone can shed any light on this for me. I have three basses, two p copies and a mex jazz. The jazz is a far better bass but lacks the bassiness of the other two. The acoustic sound, and therefore the amplified sound is just lighter, I'm compensating with the eq but still not able to get same richness. The two p's have plywood bodies so I'm surprised that, to my ear, they sound better. I doubt its the strings, one p has rounds, the other flats, and the jazz has flats. Is it to do with the woods, or is it a precision vs jazz thing? Any thoughts welcomed. Thanks.
  14. Thanks for the input. If I go ahead with it I'll make sure its earthed. Was looking to get an aged look to it, only way to keep it shiny would be regular rubs with brasso, but I don't mind dull with a bit green. Thanks again.
  15. Ok, this might be daft question but I've a hankering for a copper scratchplate, would it interfere with the electrics? Don't want to go to the hassle of making it only to find out I start picking up radio 4. Thanks all.
  16. I think with cheap gear you can get lucky, on the other hand you can end up spending your hard earned cash on something that is almost useless. Most often you will get what you pay for.
  17. I bought one from gear4music for about £100, it's fairly unplayable. Arrived with rattles on most of the frets, only became playable with a massively high action, pre-amp has almost no bass to it and the neck is like half a baseball bat. Put me off buying cheap new gear for ever. Cheap secondhand is better imo.
  18. Just got my first fretless, and I'm quite surprised to find it isn't impossible to play. I was expecting to be blundering around like a fool, but I'm able bash out an almost in tune bassline on it. I'm sure it will take a good bit of time and practice to be able to play it well but I'm really enjoying it already. It's an old beaten up unlined p/j that's in need of some serious tlc, but £70 well spent. Anyone got any fretless tips?

  22. Sorry, but I have to say it..... Smoke on the Water.
  23. Nothing by Oasis or U2, just wont do it.
  24. Not a scam, just a fake so. Hope no one gets over excited bidding. Could be a nice bass if it goes for a fair price.
