1. I've just sold a fender jazz to buy my Warwick. The Warwick is awesome but I'm already finding myself looking for a natural/maple jazz....that's what fender does for me,always need one floating about its a curse.help me
2. I had a vintage modified 5 jazz for 2 weeks (5 string wasn't for me back then) and thought the build quality was really good, better than my mex p Bass I had. Can't comment on the B though as had no experience. I really do think go secondhand for a good deal on a 'better' bass, especially now it's a buyers market. Funnily enough, have just got a German corvette 5 for a good price..hopefully it will last more then 2 weeks! Bloody good Bass though
3.
Quite a random purchase is that!
your telling me. Spent hours trying to find how much these are new, there seems to be so many models and variations. I don't know if it makes it more valuable because it German and not Korean. In happy with what I paid
4. Thanks for all the kind words (for the bass). I must admit, coming from a musicman,I find this world of pick up blends quite strange. I guess you just find your 'sound' n leave it there, and wack it to neck pup for bassier lines. Need to spend some time alone with her ;-p
5.
Was it though? Although 70's Fenders generally get a bad rep I owned a 78 Jazz that was actually very very good. I bought several vintage Fenders during the 80's for peanuts as nobody wanted them lol. Personally I think you are kidding yourself with this investment chit chat...you just wanted to treat yourself to a nice Fender bass
You may be right,it was the first time I've seen a 'vintage' fender up close,I went abit weak at the knees. I might go play it tomorrow,to destroy the myth, but I can't decide if the myth is that they are amazing old classics,or over-priced crap?!
6. I've never known anything about Warwicks or ever wanted to really but after a day of research I have just returned from a quick shopping trip, and now own one. It's a German made Corvette Active 5er in swamp ash, can't wait to plug it in tomorrow. Seems really well made and the adjustable nut and string spacing seems ingenious. Now,what does this fifth string do...
7. I don't have a Rick but I have a hartke lh1000 and you don't get much more simple than that, only 4 or 5 knobs but I think you can get a really good variety of sound from it. If your local, you are more than welcome to come try it! Simon
8. Lots of sound advice here, just got back from a road trip to buy a Warwick 5er so will have to forget the 77,was abit of a dog anyway (must keep telling myself that)
9. Now £300 ono need this gone as just brought a Warwick 5er. May trade for a nice 2x10 or 2x12 Simon 07533 371648
10. The worst thing about using my 810 is due to me having a pick up truck,I'm the only one who can take it to gigs, meaning I can't have my standard 5 pints before we play ;-p Looking for a 2x10 for small/home playing, and it will fit in the boot of a taxi. Talk about getting your priorities right!
11. Yeah I guess your right and from what I've read it wasn't a particularly good era for fenders, quality wise. Sure did look pretty though, would look good hanging on the wall, but then I guess the 1400 would look just as good in my bank
12. No no,this isn't an excuse to my misses to buy more basses,no really! I went to my local music shop for a perve yesterday, and was surprised to see a 77 jazz bass in sunburst,on a private sale. Firstly Iv always loved the idea of owning an old fender and as my username suggests,I think that was a great year for music (unfortunately 10 Years before I was born). It got me thinking,is it wise to buy it as an investment, keep it for years, hopefully knowing that it is only increasing in money. I guess it's down to condition etc,it's up for 1395 but I reckon there is room for haggling. The idea is buy it for as close to 1k as possible then sell it in 15 years for 10k ;-)
13. Hoping to buy the 5 strin version this weekend, have heard very good things about these, and they look stunning for a 'low end' bass
14. Hi all,I'm after aanother go on the 5 string bass but was just looking for a bit of advice... My main Bass is a 4 string MM Sterling so the neck is tiny, which I love,so I have always thought I would need a small necked (tight string spacing) 5 string like an Ibanez but I found on the VM squire 5 string that I was quite lost, playing the B alot when I was meant to be hitting the E. So I don't know wether I should get a standard string spaced neck so it's easier to hit the right strings or a smaller string spaced neck so the jump in neck sizes isn't so big....any advice?! Thanks Simon
15. Bump, now on eBay although Will except less from Bass chatters. Still want to trade for a 5er,common people it's a nice active jazz! Si
16.
17. Last bump before eBay,open to offers and can add my hartke hydrive 8x10 to a trade as my sell that anyway Si
18. Want to have another stab at 5 string for a new project type bump, or open to offers
19. Bump for a small powerful cab, that's on the list to purchase
20. Also,wouldn't mind another stab at 5 string,possibly.this ain't a bump!
21. Hey all, having a clear out of stuff. Selling this Jazz Bass as I never play it, to be honest my MM Sterling is just perfect so I don't really use/need this. She is in ok to good condition, I 'wire wooled' the shiny finish to a dull nitro looking finish as there was a fair few scratches. I think it looks awesome and makes it look quite reliced. To go with this look I brought some vintage fender tall tuners, which look great and hold tune perfectly. The neck has a good few knocks but plays great. 3 band active eq does the job well, great range. Would pos PX with a MM Sterling (cash your way) or a good 4x10 to go with my Hydrive set up. Any Bass.offers need to be slim necked, but I want another sterling :-) So,I good honest bass, well used but ain't we all?! Come round for a very decent espresso and a jam,see the bass, Simon HAVE A NEW 5 STRING NOW SO NEED THIS GONE now 300 ono 07533 371648
22. I see your point, I do like the finish as it is but I also like the matt nitro finish, I probs won't do it in the end. Candy apple would never my first choice but it was the only active deluxe Mexican jazz I had seen for sale in here, and I think I got a good deal :-)
23. Don't suppose you have a close up of the gotoh bridge/saddles do you? Can't seem to see it there, properly anyway.cheers mate
