3.
Standard Fender, then. Good.
Does that mean You're going to buy it?
 4. update - Quick google says 19mm string spacing.
 5.
Hi mate, What's the string spacing on this? Where abouts in Liverpool are you? would love to come and have a little play of it if that's ok? Cheers, Jake
You're more than welcome to pop by whenever Jake! I'm in the city center, just off old hall street. Got a surprising amount of time off work and Uni over the next few weeks so just let me know whens good for you! Not 100% on what the string spacing is, but I'll try and find out for you. Its a slightly "odd" feeling bass in the first instance as the pickups are a lot wider than standard P and J pickups so you find yourself opening your hand out a lot more if you're used to anchoring. Obviously less of an issue if you use floating thumb.
 6.
Oh how I'd love 5 minutes peace, have you been a fly on the wall at my house? Kids going nuts 24/7 I really can't afford it if I'm being honest Ste but would love to have a tinkle on it. Where are you in the 'pool?
Unity Building, right in the heart of it all!
 7.
Oh bloody 'ell, yet another Yam to tempt me and in my home town too!! Yamahas are quality, no question Bloody bargainous this is, c'mon somebody, you won't regret buying a Yamaha
If you want to pop on by for a play, or just a brew and 5 minutes peace, please do let me know!
 8. Oh christ, you're going to ask me to weight it now arent you! Um, I can lift it with one hand? It weighs slightly more than a bag of sugar, but less than my armchair. Its all relative.
 9.
Still have it for sale? Or a keeper now?
Its for sale Only posted the ad today!
 10. Thanks guys, This was over a year ago now would you believe! Its the only bass i've owned more than 18 months... I've since had a haircut, also. edit: I meant the video was over a year old, heads not in the game today!
 11. Hi guys! Not been playing much recently, but I do fancy getting into DB a little, so I thought I'd throw this out there amd see if there's any interest. 12.
I'll get over one Monday when I can, it's been a while since I last played at Hannah's. Used to play on a Thursday sometimes with a soul/blues/funk band.
I finish my exams next week man so shoot me a text and I'll come down with you?
 13. D'awh man, I think I walked past this monday on my way home from scream and heard some smooth grooves flowing out. Wondered who was playing. Exams next week but maybe the week after!
 14.
Hello all, I have had my left handed bass for approx 20 years now. I got it for my 16th birthday, its a 70's Yamato copy of a Fender Jazz bass. (I think it may be one of those pesky Lawsuit guitars??) I've always looked really odd playing it, I'm only 4ft 11, so its practically as big as me. Sadly its been in its bag more than plugged in, as due to a badly broken wrist about 5 years after getting it, I couldn't bend my hand enough play it for a long time, so it got loaned to my lefty cousin to use- at least it got some action! I can play again now, and *just about* remember the notes to The Black Crows 'Hard to Handle' and some basic rock n roll, but thats it. I can't remember enough from way back when to play along with my boy, and don't have time to re-learn. I have 2 left handed sons, so kept it in case they wanted to play, my youngest, 9, has taken up lead, though my daughter, who is 18, plays a 'normal' bass... (she's right handed). I'm here because I have searched the internet, and can't find much, if any info about it. I have a friend interested in buying it off me, but without knowing its worth, I'm stuck! So I'm hoping you guys will have the knowledge I need.
There's enough geeks on here to help you out im sure! And massive kudos for getting the kids involved. Good luck and enjoy!
 15.
I really like these, even down to its cheaper stablemates such as the 414x etc. There's just one thing that stops me getting one. Why oh why does it have the 3 position switch? Who uses the J on its own? Really?! If it were VVT or had a pan pot, it'd be fine. I could mod it, but my soldering skills suck, and my soldering iron's rubbish. I'd have to factor in the cost of parts, solder and a new iron. Suddenly a 414x doesn't look so cheap anymore
I have a 424 and the J on its own is plenty meaty enough. If you're used to 70's positioning then I can understand your hesitance. I'm pretty sure this is slightly further from the bridge resulting in a really tight but still useable tone.
 16.
Thanks it's all in hand. no worries.
Then why are you denying us looking at bassy goodness, concept or otherwise?!
 17. regardless of that answer being satisfactory or otherwise - thanks for keeping your head, Ken.
 18.
no not you at all this prat knows who he is.
If you've been PM'd something offensive let us know man, otherwise colour me confused...
 19. I think I did my first ever trade with Cai, It was all downhill from there... But a great guy to deal with none the less!
 20. Absolutely gorgeous! Not sure about the headstock, but that's being super picky.
 21.
So I bought an Aguilar GS 410 a few weeks back from a kind basschatter and have had it sitting in my house without hearing it since! Today I received the call to say my Ampeg Skunkworks ltd. edition SVT was finished in the repair shop, fully revalved with new JJ 6550s and serviced with a whole lot of issues that I've been struggling with fixed. Now I just got it home and, living in a flat, am unable to crank it... but I couldn't resist turning it up just a little and at volume '3' with the low mid set to 220Hz cranked. All I can say is OH MY GOSH! I am playing tomorrow night and am ridiculously excited about this! I will post a full in depth review of joy when I return! I'm just so excited that I had to post this!!!! Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Enjoy her! That sounds like a fantastic setup! Go on, give us a picture or two!
 22.
1024 definitely better, but is it £500 better ?
IMO, no. But If I had the extra to spend I'd get it. I'm so full of s*** sometimes.
 23.
+1 Some reservations as to whether the 1024 is worth the price hike over the 424... see posts passim.
I really liked the 1024x and ended up buying a 424... Value wise the 424s can be picked up at amazing prices, but the 1024 is a better bass IMO.
 24. I played a couple at the bass guitar show in London and 100% agree with machines. Really substantial feeling basses. Go for it!
