1. dont suppose you'd trade for my Ibby SDGR1000?? http://basschat.co.uk/topic/220164-ibanez-sr1000-efm-nt/) cheers dan
2. wowie, this is stunning! GLWS
3. Hi mate, just took a closer look and it is a tiny piece of glue below the G string tuner. So tiny I've never even noticed it, barely visible in person but can feel in when running your fingers down the back. hope this helps cheers Dan
4. PRICE DROP: £430 plus postage Hi guys, up for sale is my Ibanez Sr1000 FMT. I brought this from Bigthumb almost a year ago and it has been my main gigging bass since. Used to be ibanez's top range bass and you can defiantly see why when you pick it up and plug it in for the first time. Fantastic skinny neck, easily one of the smoothest I've used. It is 5 piece SR4 Maple/Bubinga neck through, Flamed Maple/Maple wing body, MN-4 bridge with 19mm string spacing, 2 USA custom Bartolini soapbars, and Vari-Mid III HQ 3 band EQ. The finish really is lovely, looks even better in person and the pick-ups and EQ control make this an exceptionally versatile bass. Slight buckle rash on the back and small dents around the jack input, nothing that affects sound or playability at all (pictures detailing to come). Will include original hard case which is also in good condition and completely usable, though the flimsy bit of material that holds the sides together when the case is open has come apart, probably an easy fix but one that escapes me! (Pictures to come ) Reason for sale is GAS, what else!! Trades, try me! Thought ideally am looking for a nice P bass or P/J (maybe a Jap?) (Original thread here: http://basschat.co.u..._1#entry1497572 hope you dont mind me linking the original thread 2pods) pics@ http://www.flickr.co.../105961248@N03/
5. arrghhh a beauty!! looks like im going to have to try shift my ibby!!
6. My new band (http://www.jimmyroetrio.co.uk)plays in Eb standard however I find it exceptionally annoying to continuously detune and retune during a set even with a pedal or Dtuner so I've taken to playing the whole set in the lowest turning required. As long as your comfortable transposing the other songs in your set you wont find it an issue and it saves time fiddling in which you could probably throw an extra song in by the end of the set. One thing worth thinking about though is your string tension because dropping between tunings IMHO can lead to buzz and a lack of attack to the sound if your dropping to say D when your only using a 105 or 115 on the would be Low D string.
7. Another great link below full of fantastic definitions for you techies out there http://www.sweetwater.com/expert-center/glossary/ Also, for my music tech course revision I made a table of definitions, standard recording techniques and essay answers on subjects such as synthesis, samplers, amplification etc. If anyone wants it or thinks it would be helpful feel free to message me and I'll send it too yah Cheers Dan

9. Get your amp moded to post EQ? My Markbass F1 comes standard Post EQ DI and tbh I've never been unhappy with the sound.
10. I don't know if there's already a thread for this but I couldn't find one so I decided to start one. I've been finding more and more really useful websites for assisting theory I was thinking we should make a thread with all the links that could help people so we have a reference point. Here's my contribution: http://www.musictheory.net/lessons Thanks Dan
11. Seems a bit of a weird way around things :S Best way I've found to train your ear to learn phrasing and pitching is by using other songs you know the key/pitch of as a reference. For example, you know the first note of "play that funky music" is E so by memorising it you know that when you hear that note its an E.
12. I'm seeing Robert Glasper on sunday night. Literally cannot wait. Anyone else seen him this year? Shows as good as I've heard? All the videos are great but the bass seems really low in the mix Dan
13. How I interpreted zoning out in this sense is focusing completely on the groove rather than your own individual playing. I suppose in principle they're both the same however one seems slightly more useful in live situation ;P
14. Interesting points being made. I like the idea of being able to be able to perform automatically and really focus on my place in the piece as opposed to what I'm doing but the waking up bit seems slightly scary I suppose what makes some players so good is their ability to focus on the groove while maintaining concentration on there part. I'll get there one day... ;P
