1. Its done! Did the mods, worked first time. Well happy, the old BBM's back on the pedal board. Here's the photo
 2. Thanks to everbody for the nice welcome, its a great site. Off to the shed to modify my BBM with the info I gleaned from a post by dannybuoy, great stuff. Have a Cool Yule, Cheers Cammie
 3. Antex 25 Watt, all you will ever need. Been using the same one for over 15 years now, just replaced the tips now and again.
 4. Go on the old evilbay and get yourself a proper scope for £50 or so. Far better. Theres plenty there for reasonable bucks.
 5. This just what I've been looking for! I was about to sell the BBM. To the shed and fire up the soldering iron. Yee ha!!!
 6.
I can appreciate that if you are wanting to run an additional cab it's worth replacing the driver BUT if the amp section has an additional output can you not connect up an additional cab? I know many Peavey amps can run at 2ohms... I don't know for sure, just thinking out loud.
The amp doesn't have an additional speaker out (internal speaker is hardwired into amp )and according to the spec's its 4 ohms minimum. Its one of those D class power amps, so I'm not going to push it 'cause knowing my luck! Looking forward to the next gig and seeing the the guitarists faces. I'm up against 2 100w Marshall half stacks, should be fun!
 7.
Why you replacing the speaker? IIRC these came with quite a formidable Black Widow speaker installed (dead easy repairs if they do go wrong), which is a very good driver and matched to the enclosure. Most folks who I know have owned these have NEVER sold them and they've given 15-20 years of service with never a problem... and I agree they are bliddy loud!
Hi there, I'll probably replace the speaker as I want to hook up my peavey 115 and that would make the impedance too low for the amp to handle. The Data bass's speaker is only 300W 4 ohm and the amps capable of 450W @ 4ohm. I agree the Black Window's are good speakers, we use a Peavey PA system and have only blown one speaker in 16 years!! which I reconed. Cheers Cammie
 8.
Sounds like a shortbread advert in here. Truckstop
Hi Truckstop, its called the Doric, totally incomprehensible to anybody south of Stonehaven!
 9.
These are great combos. They are surprisingly loud aren't they? One thing to be careful about - the amp is quite powerful and it's easy to damage the speaker if you push it too hard. I used one for years and might well be still using it except for the weight. Frank.
Hi Frank, it is bl**dy loud!! 450W into a 300W 4ohm speaker equals disaster methinks. I'm going to replace the speaker with an Eminence 400W 8ohm jobbie so I can hook it up to the Peavey Tour 115 as well and make our guitarists puke. Should be fun!! Cheers Cammie
 10.
Aye aye, far aboots in the 'shire are ye?
I'm in deepest Keith Hall aside Inverurie min!
 11. Just scored a Peavey Data bass combo off the old evilbay for £190. Checked it out for an hour or so, bl**dy loud! Hmm I'll give it a go on sat night at a wee pub gig. You know whats coming, half way thro' Teenage Kicks, it starts cutting out! Great, the DI out is still working so we are saved. On checking the amp at home (former eletronic tech in previous life) the speaker connections had vibrated off. Simple fix. Anyhoo anybody out there use these amps? problems? opinions etc Lets know your stories. Cheers Cammie Ps My usual rig is Marshall DBS7400, Peavey Tour115 and SWR 2x10. Basses AriaPro2 SB600, Laser Electric Classic, Beatle bass copy, all Lefties
 12.
An hour with no replies - must be something good on TV. Not a lefty, but welcome anyway! David
Hi David, thanks for the welcome. ABBA's on the telly that'll be the reason. LOL.
 13. Hi there, been playing bass for a while. I'm a lefty and still looking for a decent lefty P bass. Been playing with a covers band in Aberdeenshire for 17 years now. Any other lefties out there? Gies a shout! Cammie
