1.
i need this head but have no means of getting it
It's a beast! Definitely the best head I've owned. I had an Aguilar DB750 prior to this and although it was amazing in it's own right it just wasn't Ampeg
2. This is still on sale. I am in York from the 16th until the 23rd for viewings and hopefully a sale! Ed
3. Thank you for all of the interest. This has now been sold! Ed
4. Price reduction to £600. Based in London, can travel to York.
5. Hi all, For sale is a 2008 American Standard Jazz Bass which I bought new. It plays well, sounds great and has been primarily used for recording. It has a couple of minor dings and a tiny bit of buckle rash which hopefully shows up in the photo's. I'm not interested in trades, cash only please. Sale includes hard case + keys, Fender cloth and the allen keys that came with the bass. This bass has a satin finish to the back of the neck which makes it easier to play and less sticky than the gloss finish. I am based in North London however I do travel up to York every now and again to visit family so I'd be happy to bring the bass up with me next time if necessary. Here is a BGM review of the bass incase you're in need of more information, I quote 'If you’re in the market for a Jazz Bass, add this one to your list: it’s well constructed, plays well, and looks and sounds great' http://www.bassguita...=37:bassguitars Thanks, Ed
6. Yes the cabinet has two vertical 'rails' on the back. You can just make out part of one in the 5th picture. They aren't metal though, they are rubber. They do the job of protecting the cabinet but aren't quite the same as the chrome ones I've seen on other cabinets. I apologise, I've just realised I don't have a full picture of the back of the cabinet. Unfortunately I'm not back up in York now until around the 25th of July so I can't get any more pictures until then. Ed
7. This is still for sale. Not bumped/updated for the last few months as I've been really busy. Ed
8. Price drop and post edited to include a bit more info. Ed
9. Hi guys, I finished touring a few years ago and have decided to sell my rig as it is now just gathering dust. AMPLIFIER FOR SALE: The SVT 2 Pro is one of the last US made models I believe. It has that classic Ampeg tone (especially through the cabinet!) and it has been a dream. Unfortunately given I'm not playing large venues anymore I have no use for this amp and it's overkill as a practice amp. It's been rack mounted all of it's life and as everything was always mic'ed it has never really been pushed to it's limit. £700 for the amp. THE CABINET IS NOW SOLD - This cabinet is US made and I believe it's from 2005/2006 judging by the serial number, so it is fairly young compared to quite a few other 8x10's I've seen on the market. It is also capable of running in dual mode. I am the second owner, the first just used it in his living room. I bought this in late 2008 and toured it for just over 18 months. I imagine it's done around 100 gigs but it has always been mic'ed up and never pushed to it's limit (I used in ear monitoring systems). It comes with a padded case. It's in fairly good condition, however the loss of the rubber studs has meant the base is a bit torn up. It is all cosmetic however and I'm sure it wouldn't cost much to repair and the rest of the cab is in great condition. The equipment is based in North London. Viewing advised, I like buyers to know exactly what they're getting. £475 for the cab thanks, Ed

Advice please!

Thanks! I think you're definitely right. I could potentially end up with a little bit of extra cash, or at least break even if I sell the Jazz (v good condition American 2008) and buy (second hand) or import the Aerodyne. As opposed to spending money re routing the Jazz and devaluing it at the same time.

Advice please!

I do actually. I have an SVT 2 Pro and 810, but I'm not always able to carry them around, so I should probably head to a shop and see what it sounds like through other amps. Plus for smaller gigs I usually just bring a DI. Thanks for the advice so far! Didn't Duff McKagan use a modified Jazz? Ed

Advice please!

Thanks! I've compared some prices and it might be a better decision to sell the Jazz and buy the Aerodyne from a financial perspective as well. The Jazz is in very good condition and has only been used for recording. Ed
13. Hi Guys! I apologise if this has been covered before but I can't make my mind up! The other night I saw Jetblack playing in Camden and the bassist had an Aerodyne Jazz played through an SVT. Sounded amazing! I've heard the Aerodyne before and I love the tone. Now I have a standard american 2008 Fender Jazz and I was wondering whether to sell up and buy an Aerodyne? OR have the Jazz modified and put some Pbass pickups in it? I've heard of people doing the latter, particularly before the aerodyne came out, but I don't really know the pro's/cons of it. Any help would be much appreciated, Thanks! Ed
14. Hi there, I recently moved to London to start University and I'm looking for a tutor in the North London area (I am N22, close to Muswell Hill). I've seen a couple of ad's but I don't have a huge amount of money (being a student and all!). I'd class myself as an intermediate player with a fair amount of gigging experience (did 300+ gigs in just over two years with an originals band) but it was predominantly punk/pop. So I'd like to broaden my horizons a little more! Not looking for anything too Jazzy or alternative but I'd really like to work on getting the best out of my instrument. For a long time I relied on the availability of top end gear and good sound engineers but now I don't have that luxury. Let me know if you know anyone! Thanks, Ed
15. Hi there, I've just moved to London and started a course in Geophysics at UCL and I'm looking to join a rock covers band. I've spent the last three years playing bass in an originals outfit called Elliot Minor. We charted 5 top 40 singles and had a UK No.6 Album as well as playing hundreds of gigs all over the world, but the nature of the industry and the band has lead me to focus my attention elsewhere. Nevertheless two months into the course I have the gigging bug again! So I'm looking for a band that plays classic rock, rocked up covers of modern pop songs, indie rock, basically anything that gets people moving! Ideally I'm looking for fairly regular pub, wedding and party gigs that pay a few bob. Good tunes with some focus on image (don't mind whether it's 80's hair metal outfits or hives white tie black shirt) would be ideal. I have a grade 8 in Cello and Singing although I haven't done either in a while, but I'm sure I could resurrect the voice for some backing vocals! I can play finger style and pick but prefer pick for the faster stuff. I currently own a Fender Jazz, MusicMan Sterling, Ibanez ATK 500, Ampeg SVT 2 Pro and an 8x10 (Although I intend to downgrade if necessary). I also own a Peavey PA 2 power amps, subs, 12" tops and 15" tops although I'd have to check the models of everything, it's been sitting in the home studio for a while as Elliot Minor quickly outgrew it. I also have a pro tools rig (use MacBook Pro, Digidesign 003, go an electric kit and various other bits of gear attached) that I share with my brother (drummer, touring musician) but that is set up in a home studio York at the moment. Oh and I'm 23! Thanks, Ed Email: [email protected]
16. I have my SVT 2 Pro in a large rack housed inside a shockproof flight case (lift off lid jobbie). I've left a space above and below the amp but I've still needed a fan to draw air through. Ed
17. Looks like I'll have to try out the Orange Terror. Doesn't look like it will stack up to the GK 1001 volume wise, but surely with the right cab it could handle a decent sized pub gig!? Thanks for the replies! Ed
18. Hey everyone, I've posted various replies to threads on these amps but I was wondering if anyone had experience of a more direct comparison. I'm moving down to London in September and need a replacement for my Ampeg SVT 2 Pro and my Ampeg 8x10. I'm looking for something that is lightweight, can handle itself against a drummer in a pub gig without PA support, value for money and good for rock! Although I love Aguilar gear, and have tried the AG500sc, the Gallien Krueger just seems so much better value for money. I saw one go on here not so long ago for £300!!! What are peoples experiences with these amps and has anyone compared any of them directly? Thanks, Ed
19. Hey, I am thinking along the same lines. I currently use an Ampeg SVT 2 Pro and an 8x10 but I need to sell up as I'm moving to London. I went to the gallery and am now torn between the Aguilar AG500sc and a Gallien Krueger 1001RB-II. I'm primarily into rock music but I intend to play a wide range of covers. Personally I preferred the Aguilar but I was worried about how it would cope/sound in a rock band. Glad to hear it works in that setting! If I ever need more dirt I do have a couple of Sansamps. Ed
20. Just like to add the Ibanez ATK's are great basses. I bought one as my first bass and I still tour with it. I've dropped mine, had a strap snap while doing a bass throw, done hundreds of gigs with it and it still sounds and plays great. Ed
21. Personally I love mine. Use it with high end (ACS T2) in-ear head phones and I haven't noticed any unwanted noise. I use it with my MusicMan Sterling and Fender Jazz. I'd recommend one, but then again I've not tried any other similar products. Ed
