    Hey, It's my brother's 21st Birthday on the 8th of August and we are looking for a covers band. I am looking for a band that plays mainly rock covers, has an edge, whether it be an image or style. Most of the audience will be around 18 - 25 years old. The band we wanted (http://www.mullit.co.uk/) were busy and couldn't do it. They played stuff from Rage Against the Machine, Green Day, Kaiser Chiefs, Video Killed the Radio Star (can't remember the artist!) and some older classics. They were all lively, young and a bit eccentric, and have spent the last 7 years gigging every night in a ski resort so they are good! We are basically looking for something similar. Something really special that will get peoples attention and have a great stage presence, and have enough chops to impress the metal heads around! I'm open to all options though. I saw a band in LA called the Spazmatics (http://www.myspace.com/thespazmatics) who were the funniest guys on stage. So anyone with a difference is good! Me and my brother play for a band called Elliot Minor (www.myspace.com/elliotminor) so we can help with backline, PA and staging if necessary. Thanks, Ed

I play in a 5 piece (drums, two guitarists with mesa stacks, keyboard player with synth, and three of them sing) and my tone sounds really harsh on it's own, but sits beautifully in the mix. When i practice on my own I use a Fender Jazz. With the band I need a Musicman Sterling and a cranked Sansamp. Ed

Unintentional, I just used their words. The reality is, you can try to isolate the frequencies in which an instrument sits. For example, the 'bass select' looks like this: [attachment=25587:Picture_1.png] It can be tweaked, depending on the sound of the bass, and you can save your eq settings. Not exactly isolating the bass, as you still hear parts of the other instruments, however it does help if a particular line is difficult to hear. Ed

    Not sure where i should put this, but I just want to say the Vox Amplug is an incredible piece of gear. I use this together with Transcription ( [url="http://www.seventhstring.com/xscribe/overview.html"]http://www.seventhstring.com/xscribe/overview.html[/url] ) which is essentially a software version of a Tascam Bass Trainer. It allows you to highlight certain areas of the track to repeat, slow down, change pitch, [color="#FF0000"]*isolate the bass (or any other instrument for that matter)*[/color]. And all your markers, loops etc can be saved so you can open up the track and work certain parts immediately. I believe there is a trial version as well so you can check it out. Using a stereo mini jack I just connect my laptop to the Vox and use a good quality pair of headphones. It's all battery powered (including laptop, obviously!) so you can paractice anywhere and it's completely silent. Plus if you are like me, and have all of your music on your computer, it's a lot easier than loading up individual tracks onto an external unit such as the Tascam. Transcribe works out at about £32, and the Vox Amplug is £40. Which totals £72. That is still cheaper than a tascam bass trainer. Ed I have never used a Tascam so feel free to voice your opinions! [color="#FF0000"]Edit * It doesn't actually isolate instruments, it just attempts to by isolating frequencies, obviously you will still hear parts of other instruments that occupy the same space.     Hi Everyone, I've decided to sell both my Aguilar GS410's as I have bought an Ampeg 8x10. They are in good condition, and are still in their original boxes (albeit they have been made into cases, with holes cut to allow access to the cabinet handles). I've owned these for about two years and have ALWAYS played with in-ear monitors and full PA support, so I have never needed to push them. They have been gigged many times, and this is reflected in the price (bargain!!!), however they are extremely well built, and I have never had a problem with them. This is an extemely good buy for anyone looking for quality gear at a low price. The cabs are rated at 700w and they are 8ohms. I am prepared to sell them separately for £300 each. I am based in York, and anyone is welcome to try them out. The rest of the tweeter is original. They work perfectly now. Ed

    Yeah I love it, I've added a hipshot and now I use it for pretty much everything. So easy to play. But I did use the Jazz for a couple of the slower numbers, however we aren't gigging for a couple of months while we sort out the next album, so I'm freeing up cash for christmas. Having 5 younger brothers isn't cheap! Ed

    Hi Everyone, I bought this beautiful instrument from Guitar Center in June while over in the USA on a 'business' trip. Although I love the sound of it, it just doesn't cut it with the band and I keep going back to my MusicMan Sterling. So unfortunately this has to go. It's been hardly used, other than in my bedroom and a handful of gigs when I tried it out. Other than a few scratches where my belt rubbed on the back (you can see how little they are from the photo) there are no major dings or dents. Bear in mind the bass has caught a few reflections so don't be put off, if you are unsure I am quite happy to take more photo's!     8ohm Cabs. Just to clarify, the cabs have been used a fair bit. However I use in ear monitors on stage, and a blend of DI and Mic for FOH so I have never needed to push them.

    Hi everyone, Thanks for the interest. The head is now sold. I believe Birdy still has one for sale, check it out if you're still after one of these, it is one hell of an amp! As for the cabinets, I have pulled them off the market. I am getting them checked out by a friend of mine (amp/cab technician) and replacing the diaphragm's in the tweeter's before I resell.
