1. hi, http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...7&hl=esp+b1 & cash? A musicman sound but with difference. let me know.
2.
I keep thinking I would love to play a 5-er as those low notes would be great for metal... so now and then I drop into the local music store to try some out, but I just can't get on with any of them. I can't put my finger on what the problem is, but none of them feel right. Has anyone else had this problem when trying to find a 5, or make the transition? What did you do? Just buy one and hope it grew on you, or stick with the 4's?
i'm with you - i have a 5 string and its great to noodle with but come to studio time I know which one i'm happy with - obviously practice helps with evrything though but cant imagine me gigging with it.
3. Just been looking on the Evil BAY and seen a great looking Gretsh white falcoln bass copy made by Eastwood. The lad wants £400 but I think you can buy them new for £450 so not too interested in this one, but they do look fantastic. Only worry is that I'm a fickle type and know this would never command any demand next time round so theres no real value in the brand. Just wondered what people thought of them if they had tried them out? I did have a Ibanez artcore semi bass but it was too much 'twang; and not enough 'umph'.....let me know (link below); http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Eastwood-classic-4-s...=item35af7ddda2
4. this is just why I hate Ebay so much. I mean, if he was that bothered about the case he would have made the effort to come and see the bass and case before bidding. Unless you've promised him a brand new spotless case and he's got the ares end one you'll be fine. Its just rubbish how he can have you over the barroll with negative feedback and theres no way of giving him any. alas i can recall when it was fairly new and it was cheaper to use, people treated each other with respect and you could trust what ever anyone told you..... I sold a Gretsch guitar which had a slight mark on the neck, he must have got it home and thought of a way to make some money cos he complained that it was worse and i ended up giving him the postage back (only £15) and he was like, yeah thats fine, cheers !!!! obviously not that bothered.
5. price drop to £350 if anyone is interested - dont wanna lose all my money to the bay!
6.
That's a cool looking bass! How old is it and what's the neck profile like? I imagine it's simular sounding to a ray?
Hi, Yes its identical to a Musicman in the feel when you pick up and play - the neck is suprisingly thin like a jazz neck. The jumbo frets are not everyones cup of tea but makes bends easy and at least means you'll get more life out of them. It dates to early 90s. great active eq going on but more suited to spanking the slap out of it rather than the steady rock I do...
7. Original ESP B1 Bass for sale. Gold colour / Active EQ etc Original ESP Hard Case included. Not much information around on these but retailed at over a grand new. Jason Newland played one in Metallicas Monsters of Rock Tour. - 4 strings - Alder body - Bolt-on maple neck, - Rosewood fingerboard with 21XJ frets and dot inlays - black hardware and 4 String Deluxe Bass bridge - Pickups: Basslines SMB w/STC Active EQ Great condition (only damage is to headstock corner but difficult to see unless pointed out- i'll get a close up on here shortly). Looking to get £400 to assist with paying for my new buy but would also consider a trade - inparticular in market for Fender fretless basses/Fender Mustang Bass/Or Epi Riviola type????....(ideally a straight swap but can put bit of cash on top to get a special bass!). S
8.
bump
email sent. give me a call if interested. thanks
9.
The Ashdown 515 is 100w into 4Ω. As soon as you plug an extension cab into the Ext Speaker socket it will cut out the internal speaker so you'll not get any extra volume. You only have two choices if you want extra volume using this combo: 1) Mic it up and send it through the PA. 2) Use a DI splitter box and send one of the channels back to the PA or another bass amp. The instruction manual for the 515 is here if that's any help
Thanks for that - ill research di splitters
10. hi, ok I have bought an ashdown 515 at 100 watts to do some smaller gigs. Unfortunately it does not have a line out to the PA like I assumed (stupid never checked and it was via ebay). It does have wheels though so its not all bad! What it does have is a 8/4 ohms extension out. Does that mean If i need it to go louder I can add an extra cab? Will this make it louder or just half the sound between speakers? Can I put it through a PA speaker? Thanks PS Just read this back and it makes me sound a right wolly but truth is I am used to it all being set up and just playing, times change!!!!

13. So just wanted to share an experience with you... , there I was sitting with my 2 year old lad watching Cbeebies when Zing Zillas comes on. Hmmm I think, cup of tea time. Anyway, as I start walking away I hear some proper funk bass emitting from the tv set and turn round to see Stu Zender with his amazing signature Warwick playing with a load of monkey puppets... I mean, just how good can kids telly get???? Dont believe me, well its on You tube. wow..,... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kJrHWmCjfx0
14. GOOD THREAD! 1. Jaco - within four minutes of listening to my first weather report album I had borrowed my dads soldering iron and was taking off the frets to my cheap warwick wannabe jap copy. Also, his fretless, guard-less Jazz bass sunburst is the sexiest bass I have ever seen (I went out and bought the squier version). 2. Mani - I loved his honesty when he said by the time the first Roses album went out he still hadnt got a clue how to play the bass , and at that time I thought to myself......this bass guitar lark could be the instrument i'm after....and I bought my first bass. Plus I am the resurection is pure genius for bass soloing. 3. Entwistle - He was the big daft lad who was asked to join the band cos he had made himself a diy bass....and then went onto to create the amazing to hear/horrid to play solos on My Generation - plus he had a bigger collection of guitars then me. 4. Sid Vicious - for the same reasons as Mani but he was even worse....and never got good. 5. Stuart Zender - I was a massive fan of early Jamiroquai and his funk bass was the reason why Emergency on Planet Earth was massive.......
15.
250.00 ono!
hi mate, v interested - but i'm in Nottingham - any ideas on postage costs? thanks

18.
Full time, touring band with secure management, rehearsal studio, mini-bus and booking agent require a creative, good looking and quick fingered bassist to join the ranks of a rising machine. Skinny Machines (www.myspace.com/skinnymachines) have just completed a two month tour of Europe and the UK and turned a profit. Their fanbase is steadily and rapidly rising both online and at the live shows and the recent recruitment of a booking agent for next spring's UK tour means that it's likely to be even bigger and better. We have an album that is selling steadily, merchandise, online presence, press and gathering fans. Our solicitors (Clintons) are top of the game and we are aquiring better and bigger all the time. We are a hard working band that do everything so please do not apply if you are in anyway considered lazy or a bedroom bassist/guitarist. Qualities we are looking for: Male - between 20 and 27 years old A bassist!! - Guitarists who feel they can play bass aswell please do not apply as we are looking for someone who's main instrument is Bass. Fast learner - in Europe we are often required to play up to 2hr shows. We have a repertoire of about 25 originals and a handful of covers we have formed into our own style and will need to teach you before the next planned tour which is in March 2011. Competent player - one of the ways in which we win people over at the live shows is by playing technically proficiently. We need someone who is seriously good at their instrument and who has extensive experience of playing in a group and even on the road. Your own gear - If you don't have a bass rig you will not be considered. i.e. bass amp + bass and accessories Image - An understanding of your image and how it will be used on everything is essential. Synergy with the band is crucial and your style will have a role. Creative - we write a lot of material as a group. We would very much value the creative input of a fourth member of the band. Driver - we need someone with a full UK driving license as we take turns at driving on the road. Committed - we are looking for somebody who is ready to be in a band full time. This has to be their number one priority. We need them to live in or move to London and support themselves for the first one or two months as they learn the material. AUDITIONS COMMENCE ON THE 3RD JAN IN WANDSWORTH TOWN. If you have a CV from session playing please email management the documents and we will be in touch. For all other applicants please send us a picture, brief summary of influences, links to previous projects i.e. youtube or myspace and who you have supported in the past. Management: Lucy Dixon [email protected] 07971 811 432 Rikki Glover [email protected] 07917 400 943 Genres: Alternative/Rock/Indie Influences: Radiohead, Muse, Smashing Pumpkins, Jeff Buckley....many more
If I promise to wear skin tight cords and a beige beret can I skip the 'supporting themselves' part and go straight to snorting sherbet off liz hurleys jaffas' and getting into punch ups with dean gafney at the met bar? I know ive got the looks cos my mum always tells me I have.... no,... seriously though, i do have a 15 watt behringer that rocks!!!!
19. hi, if it helps I was the last owner of this one (ebay? NI sterling etc?)...and this bass is beautiful in every single way. Kind of regret selling it now as it truly is a limited edition. If you search down to sundays basses to sell i've got a US Fender Jazz bass with retro fitted Korg Kaoss pad to sell/trade and would be happy to do a deal (bit wild and out of there agreed but the custom Jazz korg bass is a true one off!). anyway No worries - I can vouch for the fact that the bass you have plays like a dream!
20. I see that they do a Stu Zender signature model with Warwick - its a bit dull though, I always thought his was decorated in the Jamiroquai (spelling?) native colours.....great bassist though. http://www.warwick.de/modules/produkte/pro...mp;linkID=41976 I bet thats a good bass to play..
21. OK, so was just having discussion with this guitarist nut at work today and he was saying his favourate guitar sig edition of all time was the fender jagstang which got me thinking.... soooo my two would be; billy sheehan yamaha attitude (practical) bootsey collins washburn star thing (outrageous)
22. for that money go used and you open up a world of options.... go for a Fender Jap P or J bass as they are just as good as a US but without the designer tag.....they even make a japanese Fender Mustang bass which should meet that price tag. or a Warwick standard - made in germany and holds its value. or a Musicman Sub - they basically brought these out as a cheaper version of the stingray but stopped making them when people realised they were just as good without the bling..... anyway hope that helps.
23.
this is some cool tech you have....what other toys you got in the stable??
not any more, unfortunately..... in my band days I had all the effects going including a wireless system so that I could walk off stage and still play. The covers band is quite strict so no more am I allowed to act like the fool....its not the done thing at weddings apparantly... for shame!
24. .....................MUSICMAN BONGO!!!! I knew there was a bass I wanted to try. Whats that like? (for the record I forgot about my Musicman Sub bass - it was ok, very good value for money but wish I had gone for the active one).
