1. Hi, our band has a female front and we find that even very male dominated songs sound great 'rocked chicked 'up... anyway, the best ones we have which a female sounds suprisingly hot with is .... come together - beatles (prob best bass lead song ever!) 20th century boy t-rex and billie jean - oh, and the arctic monkeys version of love machine.... not sure if thats what your after - but from experience females can really rock these up! ps. It took some getting used for us (as we were used to all males) but a rock band with a female front is fantastic - listen to the dead weather album - amazing.
 2. ok, THANKS to a kind and semi drunk next door neighbour I have taken some photos. - hopefully these extra photos attached should go somewhere to answering your q's. in short, everything you need for it to work is included, thanks
 3.
its been removed...thats weird.
yes, i just removed it. The missus suggested the dreaded bay but didnt realise i would be getting so much interest here so now happily removed to save lining the evil paypal/ebay mafia. I can always put it back on.
 4. Hi, just a quick hello from a new member. I'm based in Nottingham and have been playing serious (if you can call it that) bass for about 5 years now. I have been in a local band (CAPONE? anyone) for about 3 years where we drank alot and kind of forgot what we were supposed to be playing in front of curious local folk. But we did play some great venues like Boat club, old angel, castle festival etc.... anyway, I am now in a boring covers band but we are fairly good and play some good local gigs. I have owned LOADS of basses from cheap ones that fell apart on stage (true, one actually fell apart while performing) to Gibsons which I did not dare strum in case I scratched the newness off. I tended to be fairly excentric on stage so have had lots of shiny basses with LEDs but now have had to calm down due to the audience we tend to play too (covers bands do not suit korg kaoss fitted j basses)!. anyway hope to speak to you all soon.
 5.
Ah... oh dear... can of worms indeed. Pointless thread with all due respect from yours truly. If you find it in yourself to eradicate the evils of hype, hearsay and whatever crap you read on internet fora... then you'll realize that perhaps even a £50 nameless bass can be ace to a man, and that same man couldn't care less for... say a handmade Fodera or a Ken Smith even if he could afford it. Ok example: even in this thread someone said try a Rickenbacker, they are the dogs' blx, well I have tried many Ricks in as many models as they come, money not being an issue for me, they just don't do it for me at all! Same as Warwicks, I know there is a "cult" going on about Warwick basses, but they mean jack **** to me. Don't like holding them, playing them and even hate the sound they make. But at the same time I wouldn't dare diss them, I simply appreciated they are not for me and that doesn't mean they're bad. I am sure that some of the basses I rate might not be your choice and that some people wouldn't even touch with a barge pole. So I ask, why for threads like these exist? Do we all drive the same car, wear the same shoes? No, we do not! So how could we possibly agree on what is the best bass?
true, and to be honest I wrote the title to the thread before starting to write and then forgot what it actually was I was doing....kind of like being back at school (which explains why I flopped, dropped out and learned the 4 string and not the spanish guitar...). So if you replace the title with the 'best bass ever' and insert 'new member rants about his previous bass collection' its prob more accurate. I loved the Yamaha attitude though - like driving a pimped up hummer.
 6.
You should make a youtube demo explaining the setup and basic functions. I think it may be hard to shift this without one.
good advice - i'll prob do that some time (unfortunately i need to get my camera back from the father in law first which will prob mean I have to do some editing of his photos first - never good). in meantime these kind of show it but on a guitar (thats not me by way, i wish). 7.
So you plug the bass into the kaoss pad, the kaoss pad back into the bass for the bass mounted controller to work then the whole thing into an amp and the Kaoss pad basically works an an effects processor but with a drum machine and everything? How many leads run between the bass and the kaoss pad?
i know, it sounds complex but if you knew me you'd know it could'nt be that hard.... ok, so bass is in your hand. 1. Theres a custom lead from bass to korg - this means you now have control over the touch screen. Whatever happends from now on you will control what goes through the korg device. 2. Korg into amp/pa to hear it. 3. Bass into amp as normal (I have a two way imput convertor for your amp if you want the KOrg and bass to go through same hole). 4. Now to sort the korgs input......if you want the korg to take your bass as the input (which dont forget you dont have to have, the bass just controls the korg so any imput will work) then you put an input lead from bass into the korg like using an effects pedal. However if you want an i pod (for example) then that goes into Korg instead (so you now control the sound of the i-pod). You could even use your mates electric guitar through the korg - endless options..... For me I stick both guitar and korg into same amp when practising but when gigging I put the korg through pa and bass in amp. SIMPLE.....(breathe)
 8.
Just checked these Korg units on youtube. Its a cracking tool to play about with. How useful is it in a bass situation though??
Hi, Its good for a number of things; it is great for dubbing in cover songs (for example, we were doing our own take on dance floor by monkeys and when it came to the intro/chorus I could bring in the sample with some synth and play over it....just like a dj might dub in. For this you would fit your i-pod/pa as the source and run it through your bass (sounds complex but simple). if you purely run your bass through its best trick is for synth sounds (think wide array of boss pedal synth noises but with this one you control every aspect of that with your finger). There are loads of other effects available (see you tube) but that would be my top.(theres also a drum machine which your finger controls) finally and most important of all is that it proves the bassist can have bit of bling too! plus - when you just leave the korg at home you have a top quality usa fender jazz bass to gig with if you dont want the effects .
 9. So I was having a think about the basses I have owned and gigged over time and was thinking, what is the best ever bass guitar? my collection so far.... 1. Fender Jazz bass MIM (poor quality, mexican basses are the worst) 2. Warwick streamer Rock bass (first one I enjoyed, great fun and cheap but upgraded to a proper one...) 3. Warwick Streamer Standard (nice, w german made, h e a v y and bit dull) 4. Burns Marquee Bass (went through a patriotic phase and bought one, unusual, short scale, plenty of comments whilst gigging but bit too shadows...kept waiting for Cliff to come out from behind). 5. Yamaha silent bass (what was i thinking? - the handles kept falling off when gigging...we wont dwell on this one...) 6. Epiphone EB3 (Looked the biz but very neck heavy and end of day it was an Epi.....not bling enough) 7. Yamaha BB Bass Fretless (thing is Yamahas are brilliant, so reliable, so effortless, but it was no sex machine like next one) 8. Gibson Thunderbird studio (wow, beautiful, so beautiful. Loved it, great to play but neck dive meant new strap pegs needed, why did I sell it, why?) 9. Fender Musicmaster (vintage, great aged look, lovely short scale, quiet, needed to upgrade the pickup before gigging) 10. Yamaha Attitute Lit (Billy Sheehan signature, looked like a hot rod Fender. Great fun with the dual input stereo sound, wonderful to play, very good quality bass). 11. Ibanez Artcore AGB - my first semi acoustic bass, looked stunning but semi basses dont sound great, too much clangy reverb going off. Not accurate enough. 12. Ibanez Artcore AGB customised - see above but with active circuits and short scale so more tonal options - problems still existed. 13. Fender Squire Fretless bass - looked gorgoeus, played very well for a korean but upgraded to.... 14. Fender 50th anniversary P fretless - US made, brilliant to play, standard looks, but i'm no jaco. 15. Zoot custom bass - unusual, first true custom built guitar i've owned, great sound but emotionless.... 16. Fender 60th anniversary J bass with Korg pad - US made, s1 switch, infinite tone options, infinite effects, truly original but now in a covers band so looks odd with all the led lights etc....for sale. There have been others but they were too cheap to list.... to be continued.....
 10. FENDER USA JAZZ BASS (with S1 switch) - £550 ovno This bass has been pro fitted with the amazing Korg Kaoss Pad 3 so that the built in screen on the guitar controls the korg effects (basically identical to Muse guitarist Matt Bellamys Manson guitar). The customisation was created by Sims Custom Shop in Kent so proper job. The MIDI Screen has been lifted from the Korg Kaoss Pad 3 and has a large group of Red LED'S behind the screen to light the bass up with a switch right next to the EQ controls. This is controlled by your fingers as you play the bass strings. The Kaoss pad effects include loops, voice and synth to drum settings. Due to the retro fittings this leaves two inputs so can also be used to wire up to two amps (think Yamaha attitude) which creates a stereo sound when performing. Everything you need to operate the system is included so that includes; Korg Kaoss 3 unit Stereo leads Purpose built lead from bass to Korg pad Strap lock and hardcase also included. Truly is a one off bass. Plays brilliantly with nice low action and all the original labels included - this is practically brand new. Change in circumstances leads to sale so grab a bargain - the total package is worth over £1400. Would consider trade if local to Nottingham - interested in Warwicks and Gibsons
