Got a private function tonight with Glam covers band. Not comfortable doing these gigs as not everyone shares the taste in music of the birthday person so it can be a hit or a miss. All else fails its a well paid rehearsal. Dave

I remember buying the music book for The Eagles Greatest Hits and realising there was more to the bass than first thought. I think i gave my young brother a loan of it in recent years and never saw it again. Brothers ....... Huh !!! The one i always thought was tricky was Hotel California. Not hard to play each note but the timing was hard for me for some reason. Great band and i'm jealous of you with this one Michael. Have to say the vocal harmonies are fantastic in the band. All the very best with it. Dave

Did add to the original post but its way back in the realms of history and i just liked these pics. First time i've seen more pics of the bass player than the guitarist too so this is a first. Dave

You'd think the matt finish would be more expensive with the gloss finish then rubbed down obviously more work involved ? Sounds like i'm lucky to have a gloss white VM4 then. I think its polar white but not sure Dave

I see where your coming from now. There's an element of fun involved. Sounds like it would be a great day/night out to see that. Love the idea of it but as you say it takes a lot of skill and knowledge from your guitarist to pull it off plus you need to be pretty competent on bass to follow him. Don't underestimate your own abilities there Pete. Dave

Yep you need to match the band to the venue. We did a Hogmanay gig and a similar thing was heard by singer in the loo about hoping this lot aren't one of those loud rock bands with screaming guitars all night. Luckily most people that bought tickets checked to see who the band were and came dressed in Glam gear as the venue didn't say what kind of band we were on their adverts altho looking at us in Glam gear is a bit of a dead giveaway. Nice one. I like it. That's how we do it with the Glam band. We bring a standard PA but if we need lighting and a full PA then its a van hire as well so we add on a bit more to the fee to cover it all. The way we look at it is if we can get in our cars its a standard fee. Anything more is extra. Dave

Looks like a great venue and location Daryl. Plenty of space on the stage area too. Good to see you had around 100 folks there. I always find i play better with a decent crowd. Dave.

That was my response when i found out. They offered us £300 to play the gig and then wanted us to supply a full PA and lighting for the main band XSLF. Forget to mention they wanted to use all our backline. Dave

Luckily our drummer is very savvy on all of this stuff having played stadium venues when he was younger. He tends to spot all the sneakiness of organisers / promoters. Also its all his PA so he is very careful with it. Dave

Is it a multi band event. ? Over here venues generally only hire a PA and lighting themselves when its a multi band event to save swap over time. We've been asked a few times with the punk band to do a support slot for well known bands and after we agree a fee the organiser comes out with the "can you bring your PA and the headline band can use it too". At that point we say NO THANKS. We're not giving a free PA hire for another headliner band meaning we need to hang around all night and do the Sound Engineering bit until they finish. I have no issues if we are headlining and on last and support band wants to use our PA. It just comes across as a very sneaky manoeuvre. Dave
