  1. The band sounded good to me on the vid. I did hear the vocals being out a little but not a major blow over a full set assuming it was a rare deviation. I sometimes think bands don't research the venues enough before taking a booking. From what i hear on your short vid you posted the songs are aimed at a younger age group than me at 64 yet most of the people in that particular venue looked older than me. That's why i suggested you look for venues with a younger audience rather than "old man pubs" altho i'm exaggerating a bit there. If you are playing songs from 1990 onwards then aim for an audience age group around 30-40 yrs old and they'll be more up for it. Sometimes a widely varied age group works very well too but it all depends on your set list what works best. Have a discussion with the rest of the band and see what comes out of it. At 7 gigs in you should be tight enough by now if you've rehearsed enough beforehand. You should already know what songs work best and then tweak your set with similar style of songs. I've always said since i was a late teenager that if a venue can get women in and dancing then guys will automatically follow suit. Its life. Guys follow women when it comes to pubs and clubs. It worked for me since the 70's Dave
  2. Can you not aim for a pub with a younger crowd that might appreciate the songs a bit more altho you do have some dancing going on there so not all bad. Just a thought. Dave
  3. Its one of the main reasons i attend the gym 3-4 times a week for past 3 yrs. At 64 things were getting too hard. Doing a lot better now tho. To be fair you do experience a lot warmer weather than we do. At the moment we have 18 oC (circa 65 oF) so its just nice. Dave
  4. Get yourself an 18" gym fan like this. I use it with Glam band with all the Glam gear it gets extremely hot in summer gigs. We're not huge on air-con over here i'm afraid. In some clubs it was costing too much to run it constantly so they switch it on when it gets too hot for the bar staff but no consideration for us on stage. Dave
  5. Had the Mk4 bass head too. Amazing tones. Had the passive channel for the low end and para EQ channel for the mids to high end. Had the full Marshall stack back then but changed to the Peavey head and what a sound you got. Eventually got rid of the 412's for a custom Peavey BW 12" & 15" cab. Happy days. Dave
  6. I had a late 70's Jazz with same neck as yours and it was glorious. Mine was a mocha body. Wish i had kept it. Can't even remember why i sold it. Dave
  7. We do an occasional Blue Angels gig with the Punk covers band and we use their old Peavey PA mixer amp plus Peavey PA cabs and it sounds brilliant. Our drummer used to be a sales manager for Peavey in their hey day of the 80's. He also did same with Pearl drums. Dave
  8. Nice one Mart. Hopefully the drummer issues are behind you. Dave
  9. Aye you were lucky.
  10. Nice wee set up there Pete. Dave
  11. Not gigged it yet. Only arrived during the week. Need to wait until next Sat to test it at a gig. So far i'm liking the Boogie channel a lot and can get most of the tones i like just by adjusting the Sandberg VM4 EQ. Was never able to do that with my other amps. Dave.
  12. Just got my Mesa TT800 after a 3yr wait and would find it hard to justify a new bass but it is tempting. I'm off for a wee look at their page. I hate you for this @lozkerr Dave
  13. That in a 4 string would be great in my Glam band. If it had a thinner neck Can i ask out of curiosity where do set the on board EQ. I tend to set mine flat (centre detent) on active basses and adjust my amp to suit and that gives me on board adjustment if needed quickly. I only ask because i once read that Stingray players tend to turn the Bass and Treble up quite a bit almost full to get that distinct Stingray tone. Dave
  14. Really annoys me when we are assured the Glam band have a changing room and we turn up and its a literally a cupboard that 5 adults with several Glam costumes need to get changed in. Some venues have suggested we could use the toilets and we have to say No thanks that's not suitable. That's probably why we mainly play clubs that usually have committee rooms we can use. I'd quite happily walk away from those venues as its hard enough changing in a tight space let alone coming off stage sweating like the proverbial and no area or space to cool down a bit before going back on stage for 2nd half. Dave
  15. Is that a sparkly Stingray there @lozkerr ? Dave
  16. Looking for his front ear. Dave
  17. What a cracking event. Love it. Dave
  18. Well done. I remember in mid 80's doing PA hire for a Canadian Cajun band at a local venue. Was a great night with so much energy and a great fun gig. Dave
  19. Enjoyed that, not my usual kind of music but that was really good. Thanks for sharing. Dave
  20. I did actually see Jonny and the Self Abusers in our local Sat afternoon venue in Wishaw back in late 70's. They were ok but not my kind of music but i vaguely remember the drummer as having very basic kit possibly a snare and bass drum or similar. Was a long time ago and an afternoon of beer does tend to make your memories a bit vague. Dave
  21. Both correct. I decided to have a look on line to see which bands were Post Punk. Surprised me to see The Clash, The Police, The Jam all listed there as they were about in 76/77 when punk took off. To be fair i'm no expert and was never really into punk altho i did enjoy some of the hits and the energy some of them had. Its an odd collection as Simple Minds were in there too. I always regarded them as part of the New Wave type bands. I'm guessing anything after Punk can be regarded as "Post Punk" era which is kinda wide open to interpretation. Dave
  22. what is Post Punk ? Dave
  23. Punk isn't really my thing TBH but i have to admit i enjoyed playing the songs and the band members are all first class people altho guitarist is on holiday at moment and we didn't want to spoil his holiday. Singer said he was thinking of retiring from the band soon anyway as he appreciates the other 3 of us are busy with the Glam band. He has a Ramones tribute band on the go now too. If i do look for a side project i think it might be back to classic rock or if possible Prog covers band which i've never quite managed to find others into same things. Dave
  24. Sorry to hear that. Bit poor for a band to split because someone raises an issue for discussion. That kind of thing really annoys me. Looks like our punk covers band will be folding soon too as just not enough interest or gigs for that matter but on the plus side the Glam band is fairly busy with bookings already in for Xmas 2025. I might see if i can get another side project from the Glam band just to keep me busy maybe 1-2 gigs / mth kind of thing. Problem i have is that the Glam band are fully booked thru Dec both Fri and Sat with occasional Sun gigs and another band might feel a bit bad about getting no gigs in Dec Dave
  25. Thanks Paul its better than i could have imagined but then again i am a Mesa fanboy since buying the Mpulse and PH212 cab. Well worth the wait. Dave
