  1. Not a prob visog. Its what makes for an interesting thread. Totally agree that Geddy's tone has changed quite a bit over the years. I just liked the way his WAL sounded so sharp and clear. It doesn't have that deeper bottom end but for me it suited the music at that time. Think i had WAL gas at that time too so that didn't help. Moving Pictures also another fav bass tone. I actually liked his sound from Farewell to Kings album which is also when i first saw them. Think his tone will always get us bassists debating but that's Geddy for you. Dave
  2. Not at all. I had an issue with a metal splinter in my fingertip and altho i eventually managed to get it removed it was still quite painful so i tried Voltarol and it worked a treat. Don't use it now that its healed properly. But i have to say it did the job. I got that tip from a bass forum somewhere. Might have been BC or TB. Dave
  3. Use some Voltarol on your finger tip when playing. Stops the pain quite well. Dave
  4. Great news sir and the bug has bitten you again. Good to see you are back into playing again. Dave
  5. Yep i was gonna go for Geddy's WAL sound but changed to Neil Murray who was probably more of an influence on me along with Jack Bruce. DAve
  6. Neil Murray on this
  7. Its all about what you get from it. Unless like Bluewine and its your job of course. So what, taking a small loss for your hobby is well worth the enjoyable experience. Well done. Dave
  8. That Darkglass produces a nice deep sound. Its not what i was expecting from it. Very nice. Dave
  9. Oooohhhhh GIN
  10. What happened to this thread ? its went a bit astray by sound of it. Dave
  11. That's quite a thunderous tone there. Loving that. What gear are you using here. Looks like Musicman bass into amp ? and barefaced cab maybe ? Dave
  12. Great set list. Moonage Daydream is a great song for bass playing and i noted that's on the to do list. Dave
  13. Fantastic set list and a few i don't recognise. I'll be keeping an eye out for you guys up here. I do Jean Genie and Rebel Rebel in our Glam Rock covers band and i just love doing Trevor Bolders bass lines plus the songs are just so rewarding to play and they give you that little lift when finished. Great stuff and long may your success continue. Dave
  14. Excellent. Loved it.
  15. Really like the look of those basses and great price but i'm down-sizing my collection at moment. GLWTS Dave
  16. Thanks Paul, was nice meeting you. Sorry the weather was a bit wild and wet. Dave
  17. Bass now sold to our very own Paul W on BC. Paul drove up from Doncaster and we met up at Penrith. Such a nice guy to talk basses with. No hassle transaction and i will be happy to leave positive feedback when i can find him on feedback forum. Dave
  18. Will be taking a bass down to Penrith area either Wed this week or sometime next week if that helps anyone along the route or nearby. Could meet up the same day. Dave
  19. You would have been cheaper picking up the Magellen too Dave
  20. I have a slight loss in my right ear but still above average for my age group including the dropped frequency. With your hearing being ok and good its kind of left me a bit stumped why you can't hear your bass. I can only imagine that it must be down to the tone from your bass or amp but even that would surprise me. Stumped !!! Dave
  21. Can't remember if this was asked already but have you had your hearing tested. Its possible the bass frequencies in your hearing are low ? Not sure how that all works but i was told that its usually the talking frequencies that are first to go. Dave
  22. It did post on Fri night Mykesbass. I thought you had posted twice for stereo effect
  23. I've done the pub covers, blues, funk rock, Classic rock, Prog Rock which i love listening to and playing and even tried the function band thing (wasn't for me) but earlier this year i received an advert from a mate who knew a guy that was doing solo Glam Rock covers with backing tracks and wanted to put a full band together for same thing. All done thru FB advert and messaging. I'd always wanted to play that stuf and tried with current drummer 6 yrs ago but couldn't get other musicians then. 70's Glam Rock was what got me into music back in early 70's. I'm loving every rehearsal and altho progress is slow because of other band commitments that were all previously booked we are now looking at 1st gig early 2019. We were too late for the Xmas party gigs this year which was a shame as its ideal music for that. In effect its taken me 5-6 yrs to get the band i always wanted. I'm very happy at the moment. My suggestion is to have a serious think about what you enjoy and what you really want from a band and if nothing available locally then consider advertising from scratch yourself. It might take time but you can pick and choose your own musicians whether that be old mates or new ones. It might take a bit of time to get it all together but might be worthwhile. Try Bandmix and even Gumtree for bands but Facebook is becoming more popular for bands advertising these days. Can only wish you the very best in your search for the ultimate band that suits what you want. Dave
