  1. OR............let me keep it for you in a nice safe environment free of charge and i'll even pick it up directly from your house. I won't charge for fuel. Dave
  2. A Rickenfaker maybe but not an expensive Rik bass. Dave
  3. What bass are you using at 14mm ? Dave
  4. My first outing from 4 strings i went the full hog, missed out 5ers and bought a cheap ESP Ltd 6 stringer with 16.5mm spacing measured at bridge. No idea what the nut spacing was but i think it was narrower than my Jazz or Thumb bass which both have narrow nuts compared to P basses in general. All my other basses were circa 18mm at that time. I know that doesn't sound much but i found i was missing the strings with my plucking hand. I did eventually get used to it but when i had my Overwater 6 string built i requested 18mm spacing and it made a difference in my playing. My left hand managed to adapt far quicker at changes in string spacing. My 5 stringers since that first 6er have generally been around the 18-19mm. I found a larger spacing was easier to get used to but then you have the issue with the neck being slightly wider. I'd measure what you have and go for a compromise. If you have 18-19mm at bridge and don't want a wide neck then maybe stick with something 18mm or less. If, like me, neck width doesn't bother you as much then stick to what you are currently used to. No matter what you buy you stick at it and you'll get used to it. One other point i should mention that when i had the ESP with 16.5mm spacing i had no issues changing back to my 4 string basses. It was always when i went back to the smaller spacing for some reason. Hope this helps Dave
  5. I really like the sound of the Kramer 4000 & 4001 series basses.
  6. Here's his early collection
  7. Yep that's it. Nice one. Thanks for that. Wonder what the pick-ups are ? Dave
  8. Watched it again and managed to freeze it on the bass and it does have a scratchplate like a P bass but doesn't look like a normal P pick up. Dave
  9. He used to borrow an Alembic bass especially in early Whitesnake from what i've read but not sure if that was for studio work. Dave
  10. Different bass. The original was like twin humbuckers towards the bridge end and no scratchplate. I heard a rumour it was an Alembic of some sort but i can't say i've ever seen one like that. Dave
  11. Can anyone tell me what bass Neil is using on this. Been curious since buying the album when it came out but can't seem to find anything on the bass.
  12. Amazing John Wetton. Brilliant bassist. @Bass Culture
  13. I always thought the LMIII was a class D amp as they were very lightweight. Pretty sure mine was the LMIII head in my combo but its been a while since i owned it. Dave
  14. I played that combo and ext cab in some loud bands and it was nowhere near its max capabilities. Don't think i ever had the master anymore than about 40-50% and i was really giving it some to keep up with loud guitarist / drummer. There was plenty more to go. 500W should be more than ample for most bands i would think. Dave
  15. That was impressive. Enjoyed that.
  16. Not heard that before. Quite enjoyed it.
  17. That makes sense as it brings it closer to your ear level and should help to hear yourself better.
  18. I turned the tweeter off on my ext cab. Not a fan of tweeters. Is the tweeter something you feel is important to your sound. ? If not i'd go for the matching New York cab. Not heard of the D2 version ? Dave
  19. I had that combo with ext cab. More than loud enough for most situations. Used in Prog band, 70's covers band and rock band and it seemed to work well in all of them. Don't think the issue is the amp. I tried the amp thru my Berg HT322 cab and it was far beefier and more depth than the two single 12" MB cabs. I always found the MB rig seemed to sit really well in any mix but on its own it seemed a bit thin. If anything i'd add the 2nd cab as it does seem to thicken the sound a bit. Have you considered adding the MB 15 cab instead Dave
  20. I've been listening to our very own @AndyTravis with his new P bass on another thread. Lovely sounding bass. Put me right in the mood for a P bass now. Dave
  21. If you know someone near you that you could try theirs (once the lock down has passed of course)
  22. Ordinary 3 pin plug no adaptor
  23. Yes its a small transformer unit plugs into mains socket with a low voltage cable and connector that fits into socket at back of receiver.. Dave
  24. Nice basses. Good seeing the full thing.
  25. Great song. We cover that in our 70's Glam covers band. This might help you with the bass part Schools Out Bass by Alice Coopertabs @ Ultimate Guitar Archive.pdf
