  1. Chin-strokers. 😀 Never heard that before. I like it and i'd probably be one. 😂 Dave
  2. I'm in a 70's Glam Rock covers band and altho we dont try to be anyone or band in particular we do wear the wigs and the jackets are all authentic made by the very same guy that made outfits for Glitter Band, some Bowie outfits and some Sweet kit but he is known mainly for the Glitter Band outfits. We know him thru our drummer who played with Glitter Band in 90's era We are very focused on sounding like the original bands but the outfits are just part of the show and creates an element of fun as you can see in my avatar. When it comes to tribute bands i like the music to spot on. If a band can look like the originals i think it brings another element to the show. They dont need to be spitting image accurate but similar for me. But the music has to be good first. Dave
  3. Good to be back again. I was completely lost yesterday. Some nice wee touches added. I wasn't aware we had a "like" button on the old system. ? Thanks for all the hard work done by the team. You are very much appreciated. Dave
  4. ooohhh that's nice. Did you change the neck or did you buy it that way. Just curious why the neck was changed. Dave
  5. In recent years i limit to circa £1k for gigging basses. My Warwick ive had since 89 and Overwater was for my 50th 11yrs ago. Those 2 never leave the house these days. Warwick was my only bass back in 89 and gigged a few times until work got in the way. I started playing again circa 2009 and never been busier. Dave
  6. 110% agree that is quite stunning.
  7. Thanks for that @drTStingray lot of good info to think about. Might head into Glasgow Guitar Guitar for a wee test run on some of theirs. Dave
  8. Not heard of that version. Cheers for that. Its good that there seems to be a few folks that have had the expensive Stingrays but prefer the feel of the cheaper versions with little difference in tone from them. Dave
  9. Yes that sounds like it. So a US EBMM Sterling bass rather than a MM Sterling Ray34 if i picked that up correctly. Dave
  10. I've recently had a wee notion for a Stingray bass but i have no idea what the different models are like. Obviously the £2-£3k versions are top of the range but what about the others like the MM Sterling, Ray34, etc Have a mate that had a MM Sterling bass and he said it had a Jazz like neck and great bass to play. Is that the same as the Sterling Stingray bass or completely different version. Also i've noticed that the 3 way switch is missing on them now. I look on MM site and they have a Sterling bass I check on bass shops and it s says Sterling Ray34 under the Musicman heading so its all a bit confusing. Can anyone offer some clarification. I do prefer a narrow slim neck like my Sandberg or Jazz basses Mates Sterling was circa £900 maybe 4 yrs ago. Dave
  11. On FB in Burnt Island in Fife Scotland so maybe a bit too far. Not too shabby. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/2989922014465654/ Newcastle for this one https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/316798199944992/ This one's in Northern Ireland but i've heard a lot of great comments on Sire basses so might be worth checking if any nearer to home. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/1235118733608972/ To be fair there are lots of these kind of bargains to be had. All the very best Dave
  12. If you can try before buying and pay once you're happy with it. If inexperienced with basses take another bassist with you for advice. I'm usually happy with a fellow BC'ers word when buying on here. I've sold basses on FB but try to get buyer to pick up and try it first. Dave
  13. Other option is check your local Facebook Bass gear for sale. Get some bargains on there but you do take more of a risk buying on FB. Very rarely an issue with fellow BCers Dave
  14. Well done sir and as @Mudpup says check out BC classifieds for a decent bass. Dave
  15. I prefer passive basses as no batteries to worry about and less chance of electronic failure which i've experienced over the years with a couple of basses including my Warwick Thumb (twice). My Geddy CIJ Jazz has one of the slimmest necks i've played. Dave
  16. Oooohhhh Dark and Moody. Very nice indeed. Is it active too.
  17. Good that you are still carrying on our traditions on BC. Post a pic of your new bass. Dave
  18. Nice. Have you given up playing bass. Seen a few of yours up for sale at moment. GLWTS Dave
  19. That's the good and interesting thing about your site Rob. It has quite a varied list of styles to choose from. Keep up the good work and once again many thanks for all your work so far. Dave
  20. Well done Rob and much appreciation from me. I'm enjoying quite a few of them so far. Dave
  21. Saw this elsewhere and had no idea it was yours Karl. Very nice indeed and GLWTS. Dave
  22. I preferred them back then but have always followed them.
  23. Altho i was into heavy rock in 70's my teacher gave me Little Ole Wine Drinker Me as a first song. Then Mississipi which was a chart song back then. I was starting from scratch to be fair but it was more about timing than ability to start with. Later we did songs that i brought music sheets for like Thin Lizzy and few others that have slipped my old memory now. He took me to a point where i understood how to read music but he never gave me chord structure and theory etc. Maybe he didn't know it and just thought bass was very simplistic one note songs. ?? Who knows but after 12-18mths he said there wasn't much more he could teach me. There weren't many bass guitar teachers about back in 70's that i knew off and no social media or google to search thru. Dave
  24. Twisted Sister would have been a great show. Cant blame G&R for the fans dying tho. Dave
