1. Ok so this is a bit of a tester, but let see. For years I wanted a Fender Jazz Special in white, to go with my all black version... finally bought one from the Netherlands a few years ago. In the meantime, I've discovered road worn basses and now my two gigging guitars are both this type... I'd never sell the black one, but this white one has now been hung on the wall for six months and it's a real waste. This cost me £690.00 delivered about two years ago. I'm pretty sure it's a refin, as now way would the white still sparkle and look like that after thirty years! It's in great condition. Neck is lovely, and it has the TBX tone system made famous by Duff of Guns N Roses... passive with the P/J config. Looking for £400.00. Any interest?
2. For sure, but as you say, needs must... If I play a P bass neck for longer than fifteen mins my hand is in bits, yet no problems at all with a jazz neck, yet \i much prefer a P bass body etc! Nightmare. How long did it take them to get you the goods?
3. Ok so after deliberating a while I've just bought from 'Stratophere' in America a black 50s P bass lacquer body, and a road worn jazz rosewood neck. At the moment I gig with my fiesta red road worn P bass with J bass neck, perfect for me; so I wanted another one like this, and the thought of having a nitro lacquer type that would ware nicely over time appealed to me, so I went ahead. Just wondering if anyone has already got a P bass 50s lacquer, and what they think about it - and has anyone got any experience buying from Stratosphere?
4. Hi, just to double check; is this the lacquer finish or poly? Thanks.
5. Unsure. I'm interested in the nitro as I'd like it to age and become battle torn, poly basses don't have the same aesthetic appeal to me!
6. Ah I see it - I didn't know that was the nitro version. I thought it was the normal poly finish...
7. No problem Karl, appreciated - can't seem to see the link on basses for sale on here?
8. Hi Karl - I haven't, but yet again you come to my rescue, I'm going to owe you so many bloody drinks at this rate I might as well invest in a brewery!!! PS - couldn't agree more on both points!!!!
9. So I've always loved the thought of a P bass that will age with me as I play it. I have a road worn P already and I love it, despite all the Mex haters - it's my main gigging bass twice a week every week and personally I love it! Then I see this... http://intl.fender.com/en-GB/series/classic/classic-series-50s-precision-bass-lacquer-maple-fingerboard-black/ Obviously a nitro finish, so should she nice and naturally, not like a heavy poly finish. Has anyone tried one? Anybody else tempted?
10. Pre Ebay bump, or this beauty is getting listed on that site who's name shall not be spoken....
11. Haha! Your advice is invaluable as always Karl! Loving the new barefaced big baby. SO to anyone who may have been interested... This now gone.
12. Haha 'Jose the Red'! I knew somewhere there would be 'another one' like me, only opposite... I love a P bass body, and a J neck. That's how this came into being, I simply bought two of them and swapped the necks over. I had a little fun with the Jazz bass first of course, adding the East pre amp, and a stringray style battery compartment routed through the back. Thanks as always to Karl the Equipment Sourcing & Customer Finding guru for his usual help - the guy should be on a commission! I knew Jose was going to go for the trade the moment he had the bass in his hands. His eyes lit up like a child at Christmas... and now I have a Big Baby to roll out at this weekends gigs. One is outdoor... I CAN'T WAIT!
13. Hi Zonular, yes of course but I'd have to check out the cost of the courier - hopefully it wouldn't be that much. If you want to let me know where you are I can get an exact price for you? Thanks, Steve.
14. Hi All I decided to experiment with a 5 string jut for fun, but have decided it's not for me and I'm sticking to 4 strings! This cost me £250.00 new. I've had it since about March, never been out of the music room etc. It's basically brand new. I was very impressed with the quality for the price. The neck is nice and slim for a 5. Looking for £140.00, and I can send if needs be via courier in a padded thick rocksack case I have laid about at home.
15. Right guys, here we have something that's a bit different, and in my opinion a rather brilliant bass. After trying the Roadworn Jazz series years ago and being hugely impressed, I got round to buying one about six months ago. I actually prefer a P body with a J neck, so I sought out a road worn precision, and swapped the necks! The Jazz body is from 2009. The Precision neck is from 2012. So now we have a road worn J bass body with a maple road worn P bass neck, and also as an addition a J East retro pre amp added. The sounds are brilliant! Also included is a Fender moulded hard case. I really, really don't want to have to break this down sell it as a body, neck, case and pre amp as it's a beautiful bass, but I'm never going to play a precision neck so it's wasted on me. It's been routed through correctly for easy battery changes, so the battery doesn't fit underneath the scratch plate but in the back, so much easier to change (especially mid gig!) I paid £850.00 for the bass and hard case, £150.00 for the pre amp, and £50.00 to get the battery compartment routed through. I'm looking for £800.00, including delivery in the UK. I'll send via courier in the hard case at my expense, but anyone is welcome to come and try before they buy in Stockton. This really is a beauty! 16. Thanks for the help guys, all appreciated - currently discussing with the guy I use for my tech stuff and repairs and bashing your recommendations around! Gigged the RW last night at a wedding gig, so playable... but I did feel it lacked a little 'punch' and output. I'm using a barefaced super midget (DI'd), a Gallien Krueger 500w head, and a TC electronic spectracomp.
17. Ok so I have a beautiful road worn jazz. It plays amazingly well. However, my dep in our wedding band has an American deluxe jazz with active pups... And although in my opinion it doesn't play as well, the sound in active mode is really good, very versatile. Is it worth changing? Any thing I should be aware of first? Any ideas on potential pups to put in? Thanks!!

19. Hi - I only run a Tc spectracomp compressor, big muff PI, Tc chorona chorus and a tuner, but I have found the T Rex Fuel Tank junior was enough for me. It's only got five power outlets so you may need the goliath version. It's worked a treat for me anyway.
