1. Probably the coolest thumb you'll ever see!
2. Absolutely stunning looking bass, I'd love it to have with my Jazz! Good luck!
3. That yellow one he has for sale would look real nice mounted on the wall... A shade over £50 might be worth a punt?
4. These are selling far too cheaply
5. Didn't take long at all!
6. A complete bargain considering these aren't coming round again until October and with a £949 price tag, I love mine, its a sweet looking, sounding and playing bass, get amongst it!
7. Now that is a beautiful thing! Loving that matt black!
8. Fantastic job! You'll be sliding around on that all day! Looks superb!
9. My Warwick Streamer Stage 2 5er and my Dingwall Afterburner both had superb b's, the length of the string and the tension can only be one side of the story cause the Warwick's B string was alot more focused and powerful than the dinger. Funnily enough I find myself with no 5 string in my stable at the moment either, don't miss it just yet...
10.
It took me three days and a total of two full turns on the trussrod to straighten that banana neck that left the factory. Now the guy that will buy it will benefit from a 0.25 mm relief, a 1.25 mm action and a lemon oiled fingerboard courtesy of me!
I hear that! Mine is off to be setup tomorrow, I have already done a full turn and a bit on the trussrod and really don't want to crank it anymore, my action is definitely almost where i want it, approx. 1.25mm like yours but I can't stop the buzz in the A and D strings between the 13th to 18th fret range, the G and E strings are very low at 1.25mm and every note rings true, the 19th and 20th frets on the A and D when lowered to 1.25mm height play lovely its just the frets in between the 12th and those that don't play at that height and I'll be the first to put my hands up and say i don't know quite how to fix that, so off to a pro it goes. As i said before I really like this bass its exactly what i wanted in a jazz, BUT i still don't feel it was worth £882, I wouldn't have paid the £949 they seem to be retailing for now and if they push the price up again after that batch they're quite frankly taking the pish.
11.
Looks great, glad you sorted it out. I honestly think for £900 ish, for 2016, this is a lot of bass for the money! Rare nitro finish Pure Vintage Pickups Rare control setup This bass is similar to what the guitarist get with the Baja Telecaster....a bargain (although more expensive due to being nitro).
Valid points! The pickups are fantastic aren't they!
12. Well it seems second time lucky! This bass is a lot lighter than the first one I received from Guitar Guitar, the problems the first bass had aren't on this one. The bass suffered from a terrible factory setup with the strings at the 20th fret a whopping 8mm off the board, the intonation of every string was out with the octave being sharp, took about an hour to sort the whole thing out and get it sitting and playing how I wanted it, as previously mentioned the whole neck needs removing to access and tweak the truss rod which adds a lot of time to the setup work, I had a bit of a battle with the A string and it wouldn't sit as low as perhaps I'd like it but I think it's only about 0.5mm away. But it's not all doom and gloom, now it's been setup and has a set of D'Addario flats on its singing and effortlessly easy to play, neck is great, only slightly thicker than my mates American Deluxe Jazz, but I like thIs profile, sound wise there's a lot of control between the pickups, but as others say it's a Jazz bass and if you're after j bass tones then this will satisfy most needs. The finish is ok, I've got the same greasy finish on the pick guard as most, my nitro doesn't feel sticky yet, the edges of the paint where it reveals the wood should have been finished a little better, it's not really indicative of how paint would wear over time, it's almost like it's been chipped off leaving a hard edge not worn down and blended with the body... But perhaps that's my job now, but instead of looking like it's been played for 50 years it looks like it's got pissed and fallen down some stairs... Minor gripe cause let's be honest this thing looks terrific! Overall I'll have to play it for a while see how we get on, it doesn't feel like almost a grands worth of bass, but in time I can see myself really enjoying it as the aesthetics of the bass where exactly what I was looking for, it's in my opinion the coolest looking Jazz bass fender do and maybe that's why overtime I'll forgive the basses price tag. I'll get better pics when the sun decides to bother itself to come out but here's one I took after the setup on my phone, stupidly forgot to oil the neck before re stringing it prior to setting up but that can be done next time! 13.
First post on Basschat... Hello! One of those 8 basses from GG is heading my way. Really looking forward to it. Had just bought a Ric two months ago and swore I would not buy another bass for quite some time. Then a few weeks ago a severe case of GAS. Flea being one of my big sources of inspiration when I started playing bass while I was a kid in the 90s, the look and feel of the RW-series, the colour and the stacked knobs,... The bass just ticked too many boxes!! @Spacecowboy: did GG tell you what they're doing with the bass you've sent back? I wonder what happens in a case like that.
Hi mate, GG told me it would go back to Fender, but I doubt they'd scrap the bass altogether the body was fine just a few bits and bobs to sort out, most of the bass will probably be recirculated. Good luck with your new bass mate hopefully we'll both get good ones!
14. Just been talking to GuitarGuitar following up on my bass, they had a group stock of 8 basses on Friday now they've all gone, theyre now charging £949 for the next run of orders... Could be a continual price hike on these basses if they keep on selling out... http://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/bass_guitars_detail.asp?stock=160623299252008
15. Cheers guys! The mystery of the washers is solved! However... The mystery of Fender Mexicos Quality Control is still to be puzzled over, I ordered my bass which has now been returned, from GuitarGuitar Newcastle, they have been great so far and are getting my replacement bass sent from Glasgow tomorrow as the bass I originally purchased had some really weird defects, the pole pieces sitting under the E string on the bridge pickup simply didn't line up with the holes in the cover, the assembling team had screwed the cover down so much that the pole pieces had deformed the plastic and the whole cover had warped, the screws holding this pickup in had also pretty much lost their heads so couldn't be tightened or loosened, obviously the person trying to force the cover over the poles busted the screw heads in the process, further to this the pick guard had a chunk missing where someone had tried to get a tool in to the truss rod without removing the neck... 100% not part of the relic job as you could follow the path in which the tool looks like it slips and causes a piece of the pick guard out, the truss rod metal from what you could see was also a little chewed, the 14th &15th frets on the A and D strings where also buzzing with the 15th fret of the D string particularly dead. Small issues but surely they should have been captured at some point by someone? myself and the guy from GuitarGuitar (again brilliant thus far) ran a quick "over the phone" check with his colleague in Glasgow with the bass they have in stock and the new one being sent has none of the problems mentioned above so hopefully will be the same gem the rest of you are talking about! I can post pics if anyone cares to see! Fingers crossed for Tuesday's bass!
16.
My washers are the same. My guess is it's a crude solution to grounding the metal knobs..?
Ah well at least that's a commonality no idea why they're like that, on your pick guard is there also a chunk missing next to the truss rod access? Looks like someone's tried to have a go on this one and slipped with their tool!? Cheers.
17. Right then! Just got mine quick noodle in the shop and love what I'm hearing and feeling quick question to all owners are the washers under your black knobs bent upward on one side? I would have thought there was a problem but it seems both have been bent uniformly as if totally deliberate... Never seen this before? Will get pics up as soon as poss! Lovely looking and feeling instrument!
18. I'm just flying back from China right now and when I get home mine will be waiting! Pics when I get back to the UK!
19. Fantastic looking NG, i really don't like the bright coloured ones but this is very smart!
20. Final price drop to £1300 No further reductions if it doesn't sell for this price i'll happily keep hold of this gem.
21. All PMs replied to. Saturday morning bump!
22. Really must be a buyers market! i would have bitten someones hand off for this at this price when i bought it!
