Great idea, I've just ordered some 😉

Genz Benz STL2-210T 2 x 10" extension cabinet with tweeter x 2 SOLD!!! £195 collected, but will ship in its original box if buyer pays the shipping fee. I purchased these two lightweight cabs brand new from Bass Direct and paid over £600 each for them. They are great cabs and have only been gigged a few times because the band I was in only played a handful of gigs each year, they have always been kept in their originals boxes, therefore are in very good condition. You are more than welcome to try them out at my home in Bridgnorth, Shropshire. GENZ BENZ STL-2-210T EXT FEATURES: Power Handling: 400W RMS Frequency ±/ 10db: 45-18K Hz Sensitivity 1W/1M: 100 dB Nominal Impedence: 8 ohm Crossover Point: 3K Hz Weight: 37 Lbs. Dimensions (HxWxD): 24" x 18 1/2" x 14 1/4"

I also have all the Queen isolated tracks, and I thought that can't possibly be John Deacon playing the bass because it sounded harsh and quite messy, but when I put all the tracks together in my DAW, it sounded perfect in the mix, and I thought the same about John Entwistle's isolated tracks. I have to say that hearing these isolated tracks helped my confidence because I had always doubted my tones and playing ability until recently when I started doing some recording at home, and I was pleasantly surprised at how well my bass sits in the mix, and my playing was more than acceptable for someone who plays mainly for fun. 😉

I now have to use Jim Dunlop 38mm nylon picks because I have been suffering from arthritis in my hands for number of years which makes it difficult for me to hold the pick if there is too much resistance, ideally, I would love to use heavier picks because of the attack, but the pain is just too much for me. I play mostly with my fingers anyway, but on the faster songs I need a pick. As Clarky has said, a bit of fiddling around with the EQ and pedals can definitely help.

HOW CAN I INCREASE THE DEPTH OF A NECK POCKET?
thebrig replied to thebrig's topic in Repairs and Technical
I've just sanded the whole back of the neck by 2mm and it now fits perfectly, and the bonus is, the profile is almost identical to the neck on my go-to bass which is really slim back to front. It was quite an easy job and I have many different grades of sandpaper in the garage, so I worked my way up to 1000 grit, and I'm really pleased about how smooth it now feels. 😊 -
HOW CAN I INCREASE THE DEPTH OF A NECK POCKET?
thebrig replied to thebrig's topic in Repairs and Technical
To try and clarify what the problem is: I have a body that has had a number of paint jobs over the years so its been sanded back a few times leaving the body slightly thinner than it originally was, this means that the neck pocket is now about 2mm shallower due to it being sanded back a lot of times. The neck is brand new and built to Fender specs, so because the neck in this body is now shallower than it should be, it sits too high and it is noticeable just by looking at it. -

I've sanded necks in the past to get the profile I like, this particular neck is nice but it is quite deep, so maybe a bit of sanding might do the job and give me the profile I'm used to 😊 -
HOW CAN I INCREASE THE DEPTH OF A NECK POCKET?

I've thought about sanding the neck but being a Fender type neck, the underside is all one level, so it might look a bit odd if I only sand the heel and not the whole length of the neck, although I think it might be the easier option -
HOW CAN I INCREASE THE DEPTH OF A NECK POCKET?

The depth of the pocket is too shallow which means the neck is sitting too high, so the bridge saddles would need to be made higher, not lower, and adding a shim would make the neck higher still unfortunately 😉 -

I have a router but I can only follow the existing shape so far because there is no edge on the lower bout side -
I purchased a nice P body but the depth of the neck pocket is too shallow, what would be the easiest and safest way to do so? It needs to be increased by around 2mm. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Any idea what he would charge for a straightforward spray job where the body is already prepared?

NOW SOLD!!! JAZZ BASS FOR SALE I purchased this bass for a project but I have not got round to starting it, so it's now up for sale.. You are welcome to try it out at my home in Bridgnorth. Collected: £130 Shipped: £140 Despite the decal, THIS IS NOT A FENDER!!! Edited to add sound sample video Jazz Bass Demo.m4v

Lol, all this fuss over some ghastly coloured silk wrapping? 😃
-
I've literally just had a go at removing the wrapping off some old flats that I'm replacing with a craft knife, and it worked a treat. Thanks for the tip rushbo 👍
-
Not only is it colour of the wraps I dislike, but even without taking a craft knife to them, dust seems to fly off them anyway, especially at the bridge end when you are threading them through 😧
-
Thanks, I must have missed that thread, I've just read it with interest and it seems I'm not alone in my dislike for silk wrapping. I remember trying some black nylon strings once, I paid quite a bit for them but they had bright gold wrapping which looked hideous over black, they lasted about two days before I removed them. 😫 I think I could live with grey or even black wraps, but not the bright colours unfortunately. Don't the manufacturers realise that the brightly coloured wraps stop a lot of us buying their strings? 🤔
-
Does anyone know of any flats that don't have silk wrapping? I'm sure I will be told that the tone is more important than cosmetics, but I hate brightly coloured wrapping on strings with a passion! 😧
