Here's an odd one.
Pretty much bandless and lacking in bass mojo at the moment I'm just learning whatever songs spring to mind. Not necessarily complicated stuff, just whatever pops into my head.
I've learned a few Gary Numan songs - good basslines, great synths, bit of nostalgia.
Now, I can't stop playing Cars. Got up this morning, found myself plugged in and playing Cars whilst the kettle boiled. About 6 times.
Did some errands with Mrs. Pook, got back. Cars. Cars. I've just stopped Cars to type this.
Before this it was More Than This by Roxy Music. It feels like a strange compulsion.
Is this a bass playing renaissance or subliminal nostalgia? It feels weird tbh.

I'd not call a V4B particularly 'lightweight' at 41lbs, but Your Musculature May Vary.

I'd tend to give the store the opportunity to do the right thing, call them up, explain the situation and my guess is they'll straighten this out.
This.
A friendly call explaining you don't have a smartphone, so the video's not straightforward...and maybe mention you're hardly likely to start fiddling them now after your years of customer loyalty. Smiles all round, hopefully.

FYI a medium sized paintbrush is ideal for dusting without removing strings.
I use a plastic dusting mop, the handle of which is a Tiki-style scantily-clad dancing lady. The mop is her grass skirt.

There's some info and a circuit diagram here...
Does that preamp look like yours ? If you can post some pics then I'm sure the Basschat Flux Sniffin' Crew will be able to help.

Change my own strings ? Good God man, what is the world coming to ?
Dear boy...that's what one's Batman is for.
Talking of which, I need a shave...."Jenkins !! Jenkins!!!! Where is that blasted fellow ?"

Two years of filming gigs on my Go Pro and last night was the first time drunk punters finally grabbed it. All ended well fortunately!
You move fast for a man with a bass round your neck

Do your other basses sparkle like some rare tropical fish ?
If not, well...

@ahpook I watched loads of YouTube videos, there plenty of tutorials and also plenty with people playing some really cool stuff, there’s even a video of a guy playing the guitar solo from enter the sandman on an EWI!
Excellent - thanks, Mrs. Pook does seem quite excited by the idea of playing synths, etc. using this as an interface.
I plumbed our electronic piano into a Mellotron VST for her a while back and she loved it

ideal for silent practice, the 5000 is rechargeable as well, so she walks round with no wires connectedi believe the Roland aerophone is good but was too much money for a surprise Xmas gift
theres around six fingering options you can choose from, sax flute etc
That's good to know, thanks.
I think we'll be doing some research over the weekend.

Very interesting.
Mrs. Pook used to play sax, still has one, but the noise factor in a terraced house can't be ignored. She's quite interested in a sax version, after me showing her this.
Thanks for the tip 👍

I watched it, although I'm by no means a Metallica fan.
Quite difficult, I found. A lot of the time I felt quite sorry for them.

I'm intrigued by their SG copies as well.

I just fitted my first set on a Spector, and good God...
...everything said about them is true. Superb sounding strings.
I may be a convert.

I've bought different pieces of kit from both Tenma and Ruzizao, both have been of decent quality and continue to perform as required, the cheaper budget brands seem to come & go very quickly, so few 'brand' names seem to stick
I see that CPC have Tenma in their range, so there's some weight behind that route - there's a 30V 5A Tenma for £70+ (free post over £40, i think). I've bought a lot of electronics parts from CPC and they're very thorough, providing good quality parts
HTH
I have a Ruzizao 30V 5A bench psu and it works admirably.

A Spector Doug Wimbish. Absolutely no need for it, but the idea of a jazz width Spector is very seductive.
In black, obvs.

I used to miss playing bass if I couldn't for some reason, and quite excited about getting back to it - after a holiday for example.
Sadly no more. I play bass most days, more often as 'something to do', it feels, rather burning desire to make music.
I feel a lot of the love I had is gone these days. So it goes.

Instrumentally, they're absolutely on point, but what are they trying to say or achieve with any of it? It all seems as hollow and empty as the kind of lift muzak you used to here while shopping.
Very much agree - muzak is exactly what it reminds me of.
Astoundingly good musicians, without doubt, but definitely not something I'd choose to listen too. No 'hate' though, just the sound of me walking by.

It's all very well, but I suspect Joe Dart would sound like Joe Dart even if he played my washing line with some socks on it.
EDIT: The faux Super8 video made me chuckle. See how authentic it is
