Post your pedal board - Basschat style!!

Made a few changes since the last time I posted. I've swapped out the TC flashback for the Solidgoldfx EM-iii delay, which has a high pass filter and a feedback function. I've also swapped the Tru-fi Super Fuzz for the Colordriver. The main addition is the Noble Preamp that arrived on Wednesday. It's a tight squeeze! And it has to go upside down! But it sounds amazing (as expected) and means I can go full in-ears if need be (when the short XLR I ordered shows up). -
Duties and fees (through UPS): £245

Mine is on its way, should have it next week. Jack was even considerate enough to check if I really needed the pelican case, which I decided I didn't - I plan for it to be on either of my boards all the time. He seems like a really genuine dude, only in it to make a great product. I'll let you know the import costs!

I've been looking at delays (yes, I know, blasphemy on bass). I have a TC Flashback but I want one that can do momentary feedback, and also has a HPF. Lo and behold, SolidGoldFX make the EM-iii multi-head echo, which does both, plus other stuff. But xmas is coming up and I'm saving for a new house... 😔

That's what I like about them 😅

Yeah same. It'd be a cool novelty.

Anyone seen or played one of these before? They remind me of Japanese basses from the 60s. And pretty reasonably priced for handbuilt instruments. https://www.fidelity-guitars.co.uk/items/stellarosa-lite-bass https://www.fidelity-guitars.co.uk/items/thundermaker-bass

This is just making it worse 😅 odd it has control outs for Decay and Intensity but not the filter cutoff.
-
Is that the big blue one or the smaller black and red one?

I'm GASing after the FTelettronica Envelope Follower. It's a copy of the Lovetone Meatball. If I can just sell a couple more pedals...
-
This is a limited edition finish (usually they're red), includes original box and papers. Hardly used so in great condition. Note: in my opinion this is best used with guitar. I found that the bass knob doesn't compensate for the loss in low end, so I wouldn't recommend using it with bass. Price incudes postage to mainland UK.

This is a Muff style fuzz, so kind of scooped and does that 90s grunge sound (if you want it). Only used at home, and even then not very much. Comes with original box and papers (I can probably find the JHS pick if you really want it). Has hook side velcro on the bottom. Price includes postage to mainland UK.

Distortion and overdrive pedals that are not Darkglass or Tech21 etc
bassist_lewis replied to fretmeister's topic in Effects
JPTR FX have a couple of good overdrive/distortion pedals. The Jive is a clone of an Akai tape machine preamp, it has 3 diode switches for different amounts of drive. It's odd sounding but very cool. they also make the Tesla Wolf which is a distortion. It's quite bright sounding but you can trim that with the tone knob, plus it has a dry level as well. The Crook by Poison Noises is also pretty coo. Its basically an OCD with a couple of switches and a bass volume. -
Anyone done any comping on jazz tunes or with a singer? I'm pretty confident with chords but any good resources out there?

NBD: Serek Midwestern 2 5 string (30.5")
bassist_lewis replied to bassist_lewis's topic in Bass Guitars
It absolutely does! It sounds very modern and almost like an active bass, and the B is SOLID. Overall its just a solid tone, very full but still under control. If that makes any sense! You're just going to have to try one 😜 -
NBD: Serek Midwestern 2 5 string (30.5")
bassist_lewis replied to bassist_lewis's topic in Bass Guitars
Thanks! I'd love a MW 1/2 four string but alas, houses are expensive! I asked the pick up to be shifted into the P or sweet spot, as I really love that sound, and its worked out great. Sounds very P-ish. Jake also liked it so expect to see it again. -
I'm kinda gassing for an Add Violence by JPTR FX. I love octave fuzzes and JPTR FX do intense fuzzes really well, and usually with a freakishly low noise floor.

Can you set up a signal chain like the Helix? i.e. effects, amp and cab?

The Short Scale Bass Appreciation Society!
bassist_lewis replied to Baloney Balderdash's topic in Bass Guitars
See it here! -
Almost a year after paying my deposit it finally arrive this week. I was a bit nervous about having paid so much money for something I'd never played, but it's an amazing instrument. The construction is solid, the neck is a little chunkier than I'm used to, but it plays pretty easy after a few days. It balances perfectly seated and on the strap, and it sounds HUUUUGE!! The B string is massive! The body is mahogany (I think) and the neck is roasted maple, which I asked to be left unpainted. I was going for a 70s Fender look.

The Short Scale Bass Appreciation Society!

I just received my 30.5" scale Serek MW-2 5 string. It's an amazing instrument. Looks great, sounds great, feels great... even smells great! I can see it becoming my new workhouse, replacing the Callowhill I've used 90% of the time for the last 7 years. -
You're right! What I meant is when you shift the alignment of the waves so you get a chorus-y effect.
