  1. For me I made it,get to play music I like with band mates that are friends. We also get paid for doing something we enjoy without to much hassle.I’ve a very contented home life with a wonderful wife of 35 yrs and son I’m very proud of.With experience of making a living from something else I had great interest in and growing to hate it in later life. I am great full that I still get exited to day as much as I did when I first started many years ago. I suspect a lot of the (stars) today have lost that feeling . The ones that have truly made it are the ones who still love what they do having been very successful and also have a great home life. This industry can give great rewards and fame but also be one of the cruelest mistresses or what ever the correct pro noun is these days.
  2. We would have done that if we could have found the mic .We are mainly a Soul outfit and are really not that loud. But we do like to have a quality sound with depth to it which appears to send the last two meters into a frenzy.Play a skinny sound that grates on everyone’s ears at massive volume levels no probs.Just putting it down to another experience as we know the next gig will be a belter.
  3. Last two gigs have been wrecked by decibel meter. Now before I am berated by comments of turn down then. These things were set at ridiculously low levels. The disco with poor low end as usual played at a volume that could wake the dead.We produce a quality full sound at a very low volume and trip the meter. It’s been a long time since we had this happen even in venues that have decibel meters in.Even after speaking to the agent after the gig he mentioned the problems artists playing in these venues are complaining that it is becoming really difficult to do there shows. His option is to put in a single act with backing. He then tells me the venues want bands with drums but the meters will not accommodate them.I have been playing for more years than I wish to admit to and played through 70s 80s when meters were everywhere and had no issue. We have now decided not to play anymore of these venues without the option to bypass or adjust the level. If we are not required to play at these places then so be it.We will always accommodate volume requests levels but sound quality to suite a decibel meter is non negotiable. The shows were very well received and we even got apologies from some of the audience on having our show wrecked by these meters.

  7. No. Had the same batteries in for 4 months which were Duracell . But changed over to rechargeable in all my bass’s and had no problems at all.I think it was the very first version that had that problem. If I’m not mistaken it was a jack socket issue. At £300 I think this is a bargain. But times are tight .

  15. Thanks folks for the replies. This was only going to be for interim to try out in an old spare guitar.until my East arrived. As all my bass’s have East pre amps. Thought this may be a simple thing. No probs. Thanks again for taking the time to answer.Appreciate it.
  16. Anyone out there able to help. Need to by pass / eliminate the bypass switch so bass is always in active mode. The toggle I have is broken. Can’t seem to find a replacement. Plus the original was noisy on use.If possible a suggestion of which wires to connect to achieve this. Think I know but need conformation by all you guys with more experience.
  17. Lovely, as always just the wrong time.
  18. Marketing is the work of the devil. Despite those that will protest we have all fell foul of it and some become continually swayed by other’s opinions through not having confidence in their own.Hopefully we all agree instruments are great and do a job. How we enjoy them is personal and no one has the right to burst our bubble on how we feel about them.
  19. Think you’re right. May try a different cab just to be sure before returning the combo. Thanks for your input much appreciated.
  20. Hi guys thanks so much.I must explain the reason for the question. Not looking for any net gain just pure interest in expanding my knowledge. I’ve got a Mark CMD 112 h bass which works perfectly when linked to another MB cab of same spec the combo has a tendency to cut out the internal speaker/ horn. I’ve read of this happening a lot of times. The combo is new.
  21. Hi guys thanks so much.I must explain the reason for the question. Not looking for any net gain just pure interest in expanding my knowledge. I’ve got a Mark CMD 112 h bass which works perfectly on its own but when linked to another MB cab of same spec the combo has a tendency to cut out the internal speaker/ horn whilst still powering the extension cab.I’ve read of this happening a lot of times in various forums.. The combo is new so could always be returned to be checked. All cables connections sockets internal wiring to both crossovers have been checked. As far as amp settings go please believe I know what I’m doing and understand overdriving the pre amp and also any thermal cut outs that could occur. The only thing I haven’t give a go is a different cab which probably is a good idea. I appreciate all your input folks thanks again.
  22. Thanks for that. I think I understand. So what you saying is regardless of the speaker and the horn driver both being 8 ohms once the signal hits the amp it only see’s 8 ohms because of the crossover. So am I correct in assuming that if the speaker was fed direct to the amp bypassing the crossover and another connection the horn through the crossover would this would give a total of 4 ohm load for the cab. Thanks.
  23. Sorry if this is the wrong place if not could you direct me to the right one. My question is if a CMD 121h combo is 8 ohm and both speaker and driver are 8 ohm which I thought they were how does that work. Can the crossover within the cab sort this out? Or are the speaker and horn 4 ohm and run in series which means if the horn blows does this have an effect on the overall ohms.please forgive my ignorance but I would like to be educated on this subject. Thanks
  24. Shame your so far away.I don’t trust the post especially at the moment strikes etc.Used to have one of these lovely bass.
