Lovely looking team you got there! I will get a pic up of my trio (soon to be quad) soon.
I've always been a bit meh about the look of wine burst but I got to say lately it has really been growing on me, especially the BBGN5, a real classy piece and looks even better with the RBX pick ups.

2. So im currently in the process of buying bengovier's BB415 to go along with my 414, im planning to string it with some flatwounds when I get it. Im currently using Picato flats on my 414 but has anyone had any experience with flats on a 415? How does the B string sound ect? Also maybe some suggestions on strings would be great too as I dont have much experience with flatwounds.

Cheers.

If all are happy with the location and if we start off with November 10th Saturday as the date please let me know asap as I will need to confirm use of the building.

The way I see it working is that we all turn up with what ever kit we want to bring, get to know each other and make a lot of deep loud sounds. Chip in for tea coffee etc. (no alcohol)

Do we want a drummer, a guitarist or more to jam with. Do you want to bring any band mates for this?

Sounds good to me, I will have a chat with my band mates see if they want to come along too. Would be cool to share any projects we got on the boil and that.

4. Yea I get you I am tempted to work on it as a project but I couldnt see myself using it long term. Basically its either have a go and do it back up and hope I like it or go for a Yamaha BB415 for £200 which I know I like. As both the Rebel 5K and the BB415 are P/J and passive could anyone compare the both for me?

5. A guitarist friend of mine gave me his old Rebel 5K from when he had a go at bass years ago, the thing is knackered it will need new a new bridge, a rewire, new tuners and possibly new pickups. Is it worth me spending time and money on sorting it out? I am in the market for a backup 5 string so before I clutter my house up with yet another bass I thought I better find out if this one is worth saving.

6. Cool thanks guys 415 is what I will be looking for ^^. BenGovier I've sent you a message

Also i've noticed that many people have modded their BB414 and 415 with new tuners and bridges, is there a big advantage to doing this?

7. Pretty much anything from Ibanez, Yamaha or the Squier VM and CV series are solid choises, great build quality and great sounds, not just for starting off but more advance playing and long term use.

I can personally suggest the Yamaha BB414 or the Yamaha RBX374, there should be plenty of them s/h.

8. I have the pleasure of owning a BB414, for me personally the best looking bass I have an still the one I keep picking up over my other 4 strings. I have been interested in getting a 5 string BB for a while now but never been sure on what they are like, could anyone suggest a specific model I should be looking for? As much as I would love a 2025x I simply can not afford one at the moment so thats out of the question lol

9. Iv been having a peak round Gumtree and I came across this 70's jazz bass, Iv never heard of the name and they are asking for £180 for it. Does anyone know anything about it and would it be worth a punt for £180?

10. 1. Yamaha "Super" BB2024x - White with black faceplate... NOM!
2. Billy Sheehan's Yamaha Attitude LTD 3
3. Wal MKII
4. Any Rick
5. Retrovibe Vantage - Out of them all this will be one I know I can afford and I will be buying at some point! I would love a 5 string in sunburst... I better start saving the extra pennies ;)

11. For me its a mix of shape and colour / woodgrain, Make / Model and Sound. Although I have always been a fan of LED lights in the neck too but that's not so important.
Also it depends on the type of music being played, for instance a big spiky black bass playing metal looks cool, but not so much if it was being used to play a Jazz piece. (I know its a generalization but you know what i mean lol.) That is just my opinion.

12. Thanks for all your suggestions guys! I ended up going with the Zoom B2.1 in the end which I am loving so far! Now its just the question of getting my head around all these different things I can do with it lol I am surprised on how much there actually is to these things in the sense of versatility and the options they give you.

Anyway thanks again for all your suggestions and I hope this can also help anyone else who is looking to get into effects and multi effects.

13. I bought RockfordStone's Zoom B2.1u, it was a pleasure to do business with him, quick to respond to any questions I had and he made she he answered them all properly, he also provided well taken and detailed pictures of the item. He posted it yesterday and I received it this morning at 7:45am, it was very well and neatly packed with paper and bubble wrap on the outside with the pedal its self also being packed in well with bubble wrap, there was no way this could ever get damaged!

If he has anything else to sell in the future I will have no hesitation in buying from him again.

Regards

Ben.

14. I know exactly what you mean, as you can guess by my signature I love Yamaha there is just something about them that make them right for me. When ever I picked up other basses no matter of its cost or make it feels like just another bass granted some very nicely made and great sounding... but they aint my TRB

15. Thanks for the suggestions, I have been looking at a Zoom B2.1U and from what iv been told (and seen) they are a pretty solid choice.

Now starts my hunt for one! :D

16. So iv been meaning to start using effects in my playing to give my sound more of an edge, I thought the best way was to go down the multi effects way (to start with) so it gives me a chance to play around with all sorts without to much fuss.

Could anyone suggest which ones to look at? From what I know Zoom seems to be a solid choice but there are loads of different models out there!

Could someone help?

Cheers.
